Disappointing Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

I have tried to be patient with this hotel but I honestly would not book it again. It’s like no one works here. No one ever answers if you call the front desk/concierge. 3 times in a 7 night stay we have had to go downstairs and hunt down our own towels and soap. When they clean the rooms they literally don’t even ensure there is enough soap for the next day. They also don’t always leave new/replace towels. There is a bar but I have not once seen it actually staffed. The first part of the week despite it being in the mid-high 70 degrees F. There was no AC, as they hadn’t turned it on yet. So that’s a bit of a watch out if traveling in Spring. The beds are rock hard. Literally like sleeping on the floor. I didn’t think I would make it through the week and would have changed hotels but couldn’t find anything affordable at the last minute. We tried to not let this hotel stay ruin our 10-year wedding anniversary but I wish I had booked a different hotel. I think we could we could have done better, although the junior suite and balcony was nice. I stayed in a Westin in London leading up to this stay and this hotel was a far cry from that experience. Very disappointing.

Geweldige ervaring!

Enjoyed our time at this lovely Boutique Hotel.

The rooms were beautiful and the service was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful little Lobby. The room was a good size along with great closets place for luggage and so on. Two issues. It was too warm in the lobby and the room. Even with the air conditioner going. And it was cold outside. We don't love air conditioning so we did open the windows and only one night had loud noise. But the biggest issue is it's very dark inside. The bathroom lighting was horrible. I did not want to take away stars but I'm hoping that they make a more modern choice and realize that people do need light, especially to put on makeup and shave. But I love the location, next to lots of little places to get coffee and bakeries and walk to the main areas that are very noisy. Probably about a 15 minute walk to the heart of Saint Germain. Luxemburg Gardens was an easy walk. Then again I want to compliment reception and housekeeping, and everyone else that was working there. Made it such a wonderful place to stay.

What stands out...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

It's provides good value for the money. 4 star, and provided what would be expected: great bedding material (above par, excellent), excellent above average; pillows and even provided another set should those be too firm. Bathroom: excellent design of hardware with plenty of room. So unlike similar NY hotels that are like shoeboxes for same money. At another Paris hotel, I paid $1k/night and felt like this hotel provided an equal experience at half the cost. What really stood out was the bartender, Apollonia. I've been to many Michelin starred restaurants and have not experienced someone with such knowledge of crafting made to order cocktails. Just ask her to create something to your tastes and you'll see what I mean. Front desk, and everyone really was just so pleasant. When employees are happy, I it rubs off on the guests. You come back from a long day, tired and as you come in everyone you see is so friendly. The breakfast was priced fairly. Great food. I included that for every day, and if it were not more than expected; I would have eaten elsewhere. A great breakfast to start the day. I just cannot think of anything to criticize based on $460/night in April. Maybe umbrellas? as provided by hotel in Chamonix checked out to your room number, as it does rain this time of year. I know that's pretty picky, but I was just trying to think of something. Anyway, I loved this place for 5 nights.

Our favorite hotel

We have stayed in this hotel several times and have enjoyed our stays. The staff is so helpful and they keep the rooms and spaces beautiful. Our first room was pretty tiny but fortunately we were able to be moved to a larger room that was wonderful. The breakfast buffet is over the top! so much to eat! All delicious. You won't need lunch!
