Reviews for Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Nice stay, but not what it should have been

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Giving this stay three stars took some thought and I should probably give it context. The property itself probably deserves four stars, and clearly has aspirations for more and is attempting to compete with the nearby Deer Valley St. Regis and Montage properties. However, this winter, this is not a four-star experience overall. The Hyatt is surrounded by construction sites on all sides, and the adjacent Deer Valley facilities are temporary and not up to the standards DV guests have come to expect. While I recognize that much of that is not within the Hyatt’s control, giving this experience four or more stars would be misleading to future guests. There’s nothing around the property but construction at the moment. The “lodge” on this side of the mountain is a temporary facility. To get to slopes, you take a shuttle from the hotel, around several dusty construction sites, and to the front of the vaguely depressing temporary lodge. Then you walk around it to get to the gondola. None of the information shared before arrival led me to expect these conditions. Along with Deer Valley’s awkward growing pains, the hotel itself is clearly new and still finding their footing. The facilities are very nice and the service is mostly well executed, just with a few misses that you don’t expect at this level of property: - when I checked in, they were happy to take my travel ski box down to the ski valet, asked the combination to my lock, and told me the skis would be ready for me the next morning. When I got to the ski prep area the next day, I was told “oh no we don’t open ski boxes or bags.” I was shown to a storage room with ~50 ski bags, found my own, and knelt on the floor unpacking my skis while the staff watched and waited. - At Hidden Ace, the staff recommended I make reservations to watch the Super Bowl. When I asked the concierge to reserve a table, I was told they don’t take any reservations there. To her credit, she immediately offered to arrange a table for me. Just a minor lack of coordination. - I came back to a mostly clean room, but my pajamas had been thrown in a messy pile on the floor. My room wasn’t cleaned till almost 4 that day so I’m guessing they were behind and rushing. Overall the stay was good, but some kinks need to be worked out, and the messy, half-ready site is not what one expects from a property like this at a place like Deer Valley. It is disappointing that this status was not better communicated.

Incredible Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

While I travel for work, and am on the road quite often, this may have been the finest resort I've ever stayed at. From the incredible hotel to the service, it checks every box, and given it sits just below the gondola at the East Village of Deer Valley, it's design for the ski locker room, workout facility, heated pool and multiple hot tubs just makes sense. We were unfortunate to plan our trip during a season with a lack of snow, but with or without snow, we would have had a fantastic trip, which we did!

Excellent stay

Beautiful hotel with an attentiveness to excellence in the details I particularly appreciated the friendly service of the staff, little touches like free bone broth and apple cider in the lobby. As someone who is gluten free, the meal options were excellent and items were clearly labeled and substituted made I look forward to our next visit!

Exceptional Service and a Seamless Ski Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I had an outstanding stay at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley. The front desk team was extremely helpful from the moment I arrived, making the entire experience feel seamless and welcoming. The ski butlers were a standout — they made locker check-in effortless and ensured everything was prepared for a smooth, stress-free day on the mountain. That level of support made a noticeable difference throughout the trip and allowed me to focus entirely on skiing. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. The Globalist lounge significantly enhanced my stay as well, providing a comfortable, high-quality space that added real value to the overall experience. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for excellent service, convenience, and a polished ski-in/ski-out experience.

Great staff and amazing service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Having stayed here last July and being very disappointed in the service we received but impressed with the hotel I did not think I would stay again at the high priced hotel. However being a loyal Hyatt traveler I had a free Category 7 night that was expiring and decided that my wife needed a nice night away and not wanting to fly anywhere decided to take her to Sundance and stay in the nice room. This time the stay was the opposite of last time. I was treated better at this hotel as a Globalist than any hotel in the past. They went above with the lounge and getting me dinner reservations. I am glad we gave the hotel one for shot after being open and getting things up and going. I will be back for another stay.
