Reviews for Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Disappointing Hyatt Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 15 hours ago

Here are our issues: Upon arrival there was NO ONE to get our bags - we had to load them ourselves onto a cart - and once inside someone asked to assist - my wife obliged - but then 15 minutes after our rooms were assigned I had to come back down to the lobby to get the cart - the porter was chatting with a coworker - and tried to explain by saying he was very busy - clearly not the case - the bellhop / porter staff should have been much more attentive to guest flow At dinner the waiter failed on many counts - forgot an appetizer (Kale salad) - so it arrived late - not terrible - but then he brought all entres within 5 minutes - so one person had their entre and appetizer squeezed into a small space - next he cleared three areas and within two minutes brought dessert menus while the 4th person was still eating - he seemed to be clueless as to the proper way to pace the meal - finally he brought the steak and frites dish with rare heating for the meal - even though medium / "no red" was requested - upon protest he took the meat back - left the frites (to get colder) and returned with the "same meat" blackened - there should have clearly been a NEW full plate replacement Tea Service at Breakfast – I was surprised to see an additional charge for tea while coffee and juice were included. This felt inconsistent with typical hospitality standards and may be worth reconsidering. Breakfast Seating and Guest Access – The decision to allocate the entire rear breakfast area with the scenic view to a private group during our stay was disappointing. If this arrangement is necessary, clearer signage and advance notice would help manage guest expectations. Alternatively, hosting the group in a separate room would preserve that space for general guests. Fitness Center Equipment – The gym is a valuable amenity, and I would be happy to suggest potential enhancements. The current elliptical machines have ergonomics that encourage an awkward posture and can place strain on the back and arches. There are many newer models with improved design. Additionally, replacing the older StairMaster with an Arc Trainer would provide a more modern and enhanced fitness option. Ski Access Communication – On multiple occasions, I was told that the ski lifts were easily walkable from the hotel, which did not prove to be the case. While I understand that improved connections may be planned, it would be helpful for staff to provide more transparent and accurate information in the meantime. The on-site ski butler service appears to operate independently from Deer Valley rentals, which was not clearly explained and caused some confusion. This was a far from ski in/out experience and could have been made much better even with the construction. Breakfast Presentation and Options – A few smaller observations: If waffles are served with Nutella, it would be preferable to offer it on the side rather than pre-applied in globs to every inch of the waffle - very inconsiderate and unnecessary The berry presentation made them difficult to access; individual bowls for strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries would improve both accessibility and presentation. I know berries are expensive - but at a $36 ticket price I think that the Hyatt can do better. Offering plain Greek yogurt in a larger serving bowl, in addition to flavored cups, would appeal to guests seeking healthier options. Finally, the television in the room had somehow lost a link to a video signal (we had audio only) - and apparently to address this recurring issue a tech had to come to our room and remain there for over 20 minutes while he called an outside service provider and stayed on his cellphone seeking their assistance - this apparently has been happening and at this stage someone should have designed SOP to address this without invading guest privacy OR at least in a much more efficient manner Overall, I offer these comments constructively, as I believe the property has tremendous potential and I would very much like to return. Thank you again for your professionalism and attention. John

Princess treatment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Everything about this hotel was wonderful! I had a little Nespresso machine in my hotel with a tea cup and saucer, and let me tell you... drinking an espresso like that, in a robe and slippers, really makes a girl feel like a princess. The staff were so kind and helpful, and the food catered for our company meeting was healthy and delicious. The bathrooms were elegant with eucalyptus leaves hanging from the shower, and everything was always fully stocked. I would definitely stay here again :)

Close…but not there yet

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Decided to book through Amex fine hotels to see how it compared to mid mountain options like the chateau or stein. My biggest takeaway is that the hotel comes up short in too many areas. The kids game room was so cheaply done with the lowest quality games it’s almost unusable (every arcade machine was broken, most of the PlayStations were inoperable, air hockey barely functioning, hotel had 0 ping pong balls for the table). Compare to the stein which has proper pro level arcade games….it’s just embarrassing. The rooms are comfortable but the bathroom is incomplete. 0 hooks. A basket with towels, no trash can. No sheets for the pullout (which is about as comfortable as a floor). The speakeasy is just a gimmick. The lighting is brighter than the Remington bar, and there are 0 vibes that indicate that anyone working there is trying to make this feel like a speakeasy. Some of the other options might be a bit pricier but spend the extra few hundred and stay mid mountain. Those hotels have perfected it.

Great stay! Awesome military support.

Our family of four stayed in a double bed room. There is lots of great common space to keep everyone entertained and relaxed. Even though it was a Friday night, the resorts amenities didn’t feel crowded. We especially loved the hot tub and s’mores. All interactions with the staff were great. We truly appreciated the military perks and discount discounts!
