Montage Deer Valley

The lack of snow-in/snow-out should have been brought to our attention and we should have been given the option to cancel. This was the main reason we had stayed at Montage. That alone should warrant a discount. We asked for service of our room a couple of times and when we came back to our room hours later it still wasn't completed. When our room was serviced, on 2 occasions towels weren't given and water bottles weren't provided. Soap was not replenished. Not a big issue but if you're paying over 2k per night things like this should be done right. The room attendant discarded of a $75 glass of wine when it had not been touched yet and we were coming back to the room to have it. There were a few issues on our final bill which I brought to the attention of the front desk. They credited those items and then said they made a mistake and had discounted something too much originally so in the end I paid an additional $740. If I had said nothing I would have actually saved money. The breakfast credits and the compass credits were both applied incorrectly. It took more than an hour to have this resolved. The shuttle service at Snow Park was not there on time and my wife missed our lunch reservation which we had paid a deposit for.

The Montage is THE best family hotel in Deer Valley, and quite possibly the world. It’s the only place we’ve been with three kids of different ages where we all have fun together. From skiing to bowling to arcade games to live performances, the activities truly appeal to all ages (kids 12 through 18 plus my husband and I late 40’s). It’s expensive for sure but if you can afford it, nothing compares when it comes to quality family time.

We stayed at Montage DV in the days preceding Christmas. The hotel room was fine but the hotel feels a bit dated. My focus here is on the restaurant - Apex. Our experience there was horrendous. We are vegetarians. The options were very limited. After a failed lunch, I thought I would try again for dinner. I sat at the bar. I asked the bartender if he could ask the chef to make me a simple vegetarian pasta (pasta and red sauce). I was intentionally keeping it simple. The bartender rolled his eyes, and said “I can try”. 15 mins later he asks me what type of pasta. I had already suggested to him that he could just use some of the pasta in the other main courses (again not trying to be difficult). 5 mins later I was served a children’s small bowl of spaghetti bolognese with a side of fruit. The bartender was not at all bothered by this. To make matters worse, I asked for a glass of French Pinot Noir. $32 per glass. I would not have cared about the price if the bartender had actually poured a customary 4 oz pour. Nope - 2 oz. When it became clear that I was not going to get anything to eat, I complained to one of the managers. He listened but I doubt the team there will do anything about this. Later that evening, I ordered room service. The choices there were equally limiting and my daughter and I ended up eating fries, chips and salsa and Mac and cheese (which was actually not macaroni but penne). Bottom line - their highly limited food offerings for vegetarians, and the isolated location, means I will stay elsewhere when we return to the area in February (we will likely stay at the new Auberge - where we had an absolutely glorious meal at The Hirsch).

The Montage is one of our favorite resorts in America. Our suite was spotless, the staff is top notch and the holiday experiences were unforgettable. It’s also in a prime location for snow sports. Whenever we’re in SLC or Park City we stay here.

Montage was well worth it and we will absolutely stay at a Montage property again in the future! The food was delicious- we especially enjoyed the breakfast offering and the Thanksgiving buffet. We booked a room with two bedrooms- one king for us and two queens for our teen boys. We had so much room and space to spread out! Three bathrooms, three fireplaces, multiple balconies... the accommodations really made our trip! The Montage employees were really fantastic and only added to our experience! When we arrived for our ski vacation and there was no snow, we were in a panic about how to entertain the kids for 4 nights, but Montage made it easy to pivot. They helped us rent a car for the day. (We drove an hour away to a state park in WY where we saw Elk and Bison). When we decided to go hiking Thanksgiving morning, an employee walked us outside and showed us a great trail to take and we had a fantastic hike, with some unbelievable views! We took advantage of the shuttles to and from downtown Park City for shopping and dinner. Anytime we came back, we were recognized and welcomed "home" by the front door staff. Despite the lack of snow, we really had a wonderful week away and can't imagine this would've been our experience anywhere else. Thank you Montage!
