Andaz papagayo is so amazing, the staff goes above and beyond, I was so impressed with how the staff anticipated your needs. They took care of our family, and went above constantly. Really appreciated how clean and good the food was there were so many activities to do too!

This resort exceeds all expectations! The food is exceptional!!! Would say since breakfast is not included each day we paid over $100 to have options in a buffet. Andaz is already pricey so this was the only thing that was on the negative side. On the rest is beauty and luxury at is best!!!!

This was our eighth visit to this wonderful property. It wasn’t perfect, but we will certainly be back next winter. Hard to beat sunny and 90 every day. Only two negatives: one small. One not small. Small: pool service was inconsistent and drinks were weak. Tasty, but weak. Again a small deduction. Not small: this property is now a Cat 8 with Hyatt. Yes, it’s winter in the states, but 45,000 pts/nite is not commensurate with a Cat 8. At one point, not long after opening(and our first visit in 2014), this was a Cat 4 property(15k points). Yes, that was likely too good to be true. But a 300% increase is too much. Onto the good: food was again outstanding! Service was mainly excellent and friendly. Room was excellent. AC worked better than I remember. Beach club was fun as well. Check in tried to upsell some all inclusive package that was a bit tacky but they thankfully did not push. Bottom line: despite point requirement the property is our winter escape.

Incredible in every way. From the breath-taking views, to the amazing food and drinks, to the exceptional service. We have already booked a return visit.

This is a nice resort overall, though for us it didn’t quite live up to the level of hype we had heard beforehand. Our ground-floor room with two double beds was comfortable, and the beds and linens were very good. The room had a pleasant view from the covered porch, and we enjoyed hearing the howler monkeys in the early mornings—it definitely added to the sense of being immersed in nature. That said, the bathroom layout is unusual and offers very little privacy, which is something families may want to be aware of, as there isn’t a traditional bathroom door. When we first arrived, there was a noticeable urine smell in the room, which we didn’t report at the time. My daughter noticed it as well, and we assumed the pebble flooring may be difficult to fully clean. The resort is built on a hill, so there is a fair amount of walking up and down slopes. Golf carts are available if you prefer not to walk, but it’s helpful to be prepared for the terrain. The pools were nice and well maintained. The beach directly at the hotel is not a highlight, and snorkeling there was disappointing. However, the beach club was lovely—the boat ride over was enjoyable, the service there was excellent, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our stay. Our kids especially enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding. The wildlife is a fun part of the experience, particularly the monkeys, though they are very determined when it comes to food, so it’s important to keep snacks and belongings secured. We appreciated the readily available sunscreen and bug spray around the resort, though unfortunately one of our kids still ended up with quite a few bug bites. Food was good and service throughout the resort was friendly and attentive, though dining was on the expensive side. Overall, it’s a pleasant resort with strong service and some standout moments, but it may be best suited for travelers who value the setting and amenities over beach quality and who don’t mind a bit of walking.
