Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, Costa Rica

We just returned from a fantastic stay at the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo. We had such a relaxing time lounging by the beach and the pools watching the wildlife, particularly the monkeys at dusk. (Love the boat ride over to Casa de Playa! The guys who operate it are great.) The resort has plenty of shaded chairs and lounging options that you can find at all times of day throughout the property. The availability of high-quality lounge chairs at the pools and beaches is a major plus here, as you can relax and use them when it works for your day. There are also so many fun activities to do too if you prefer a more active stay. The rooms have been kept in great condition for the climate, and housekeeping does a nice job keeping things clean and tidy. Love the shower design and the beds and bedding are very comfortable. Also appreciated the positioning of the AC vent on the ceiling, as it keeps the bed area of the room the coolest. Little details like the blackout shades throughout (including in the shower), well-positioned light switches, motion activated light in the WC, included mini-bar (Andaz brand standard), and always refilled glass water bottles make the room experience even better. The hotel also has some fantastic included fun amenities during your stay that make the experience memorable. Our favorites were the coconut water at check-in, fresh popsicles and smoothie shots at the pool and beach, and granadilla to try in the room when you first get there. The service was always excellent, and the team really sets the resort apart. I wanted to especially recognize Edgar at Chao Pescao, Jaffedh at the Ostra pool, and David at Ostra. These three all go above and beyond to provide personalized service and made us feel welcome and valued. We enjoyed all of the food that we had at the resort, particularly dinner at Chao Pescao, and thought the variety and quality was a highlight. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. Also had one meal at the nearby Four Seasons and would recommend to others to check it out for a meal using the complimentary shuttle. We used the WhatsApp communication a lot, and it is managed very well by the hotel. Thank you to that team for all of your help! Also recommend the Onda Spa. Our spa treatments were great, and the spa design is so cool. The treatment and locker rooms perched up on the mountain are worth a visit! Finally, the property is good about recognizing and valuing Hyatt status. Looking forward to returning again in the future! Thank you to the whole team for a great stay.

Absolutely amazing. Stunning views. Perfect amenities. The beach club is the perfect amount of Costa Rica and luxury. There are monkeys everywhere and many iguana sitings, which the kids LOVED. The water park was a fantastic bonus. The entire staff was friendly, accommodating and so helpful. Juan was an awesome server poolside and in the morning! Chao Pescao was so delicious! Every dish was incredible. We had such a great trip- thank you to the Andaz! And such a bonus bonus that it’s only a short distance to Liberia airport!

Beautiful property with lots of families. Had a few hiccups here and there but overall the hotel staff and team went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable stay. would return for sure to explore more.

We had an amazing stay at Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo, it’s truly the perfect place to relax and unwind. The setting is beautiful, with incredible views and great facilities, but what really stands out is the service. The staff across all areas—pool, restaurants, and beach, are genuinely warm and attentive, always making you feel welcome and well taken care of. While the beach at the hotel is peaceful and nice, there are also larger beaches nearby that are easy to access with transportation, which adds even more to the experience. Based on recommendations, we used Nomadtourscr for our transfer from Nayara La Fortuna to Andaz, as well as for our airport ride. Gabriel made the journey much more than just transportation—he suggested stopping along the way to see sloths and visit Llanos de Cortés Waterfall. I would absolutely recommend both staying at Andaz Papagayo and using Nomad Tours if you’re visiting the Papagayo Peninsula. It truly made the whole experience special.

Andaz gets a 5 star review for atmosphere, rooms, cleanliness, service, amenities and location. My husband and I traveled there for my birthday and retirement celebration. After only a 35 minute drive from the airport, we walked into paradise with a beautiful entry and extremely friendly and helpful staff greeting us. The service was excellent. Employees seemed so happy to be there, one even told us how well Hyatt treats them. We ate at all 3 restaurants (plus the one at Casa de Playa) and loved the food and vibe of each. We chose the food and beverage package and feel like we probably broke even. It adds to an already expensive trip, but it was worth it not to have to worry about the cost of the next drink. In the end, it was worth every penny. We chose the “Relaxation/Adult” pool several days and couldn’t have been happier with the cocktail menu, service, and setting. We visited Casa de Playa twice once using the resort's water shuttle and the other time via the land shuttle due to choppy conditions on the water. The setting there was idyllic. We even got visited by a band of monkeys making their way down the coast. We also did the well-run and organized zip lines and ropes course offered by Excursions, a separate company 15 minutes away. Our room was spotless and the porch overlooking the bay was beautiful. The grounds were well groomed, and there was lots of wild area too, which was welcomed. It should be noted that the property is built onto the side of the mountain. There were 82 stairs from the road where most accommodations were to Ostra restaurant and the Relaxation Pool. Another 52 stairs to the beautiful yoga deck. It’s not the greatest spot for those with limited mobility, but the resort happily provided cart rides on request. The website was a bit confusing about what was an onsite and what was an off-site activity. I ended up booking our Aerial Experience through the concierge. The weekly calendar was also a bit difficult to navigate on a small device. Thankfully, they provided a printed copy. The concierge, a WhatsApp text away, was always very responsive. We will definitely be back!
