We had an incredible experience at Andaz Costa Rica. The resort is beautiful, surrounded by nature with amazing ocean views and a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff was always friendly and attentive.. We took a taxi to Coco Beach to explore the town and enjoy some local restaurants. We also booked private tours and airport transportation with Gabriel from Nomad Tours Costa Rica, and everything was excellent..The tours were personalized, well organized, and a great way to explore Guanacaste and the Papagayo Peninsula. We also booked a few tours directly through the hotel, but they were definitely more expensive. We highly recommend contacting Gabriel because he gives great local recommendations and much better value for private experiences around the area. If you are visiting Costa Rica and looking for a mix of luxury, adventure, wildlife, and relaxation, we definitely recommend staying at Andaz Resort in Papagayo and exploring the area with Nomad Tours Costa Rica.

Overpriced and overhyped. Simple as that. The place is beautiful, views are gorgeous , staff super nice. BUT , rooms are not clean as expected, I paid $1250/night for a bay view room. Yet I had a filthy carpet rug next to my bed , 6x6 ft in size , it was disgusting , management to had to remove and replace, they did remove and replace with less filthy one . not acceptable for a 5* hotel ( see carpet photo) Breakfast buffet is mediocre at best. The food at 3 restaurants we went too was ok @ $350 for 3 people , Last 4 nights we had to go to 4 seasons restaurants ( free shuttle). Nemare grill & virador Awesome delicious food. For the same price The pools were a joke , just stand in it with a glass of wine. Hard to swim. Lastly no beach access except for 5 foot opening to a rocky beach. This is not what they claim to be 5 star hotel. At $1000-2000/ night. Just being super kind and nice to your customer doesn’t make it 5*. Read Less

I have been fairly unimpressed with our stay here so far. This hotel feels like it should cost about half of what it does per night. I understand that the hotel is very “at one with nature” but at $1,000 a night I expect to not wake up to a cockroach in my room. The service has been fine, but not exceptional and same with the food. None of the food has been bad but again, the quality is more about what I would expect at a $500/night hotel compared to $1,000. The resort has been rather quiet which is nice, no need to fight anyone for pool chairs.

Amazing stay at an amazing resort! Our family of 4 just returned from 4 nights here and from the beautiful property, tons of things to do for adults and families as well as just incredible food- I would highly recommend this property!

I had a wonderful resort experience at the Andaz. It is a private coastal development in the dry northern regions so you won't see the toucans or glass frogs of the rain forest but there were coyotes and monkeys in the mangrove forest. The facilities are very family friendly and allowed for different types of activities and activity levels. I particularly enjoyed snorkeling as well as lounging by the beach club. Restaurants were generally solid - banana french toast was a highlight at the breakfast buffet, as was the smoked trout. I went to the tapas restaurant another night for live music where the menu was a journey through Latin American cuisines and that was very well done.
