Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo

Our extended family spent 10 days in the Casa Ballena residence at Four Seasons Papagayo and it was the BEST tropical vacation we all have ever had anywhere in the world! The service was spectacular and so detailed. Everyone on staff truly extended the spirit of Pura Vida in every aspect of their work. Breakfast buffet was extraordinary with a mix of local dishes and every traditional item (even special requests!). Concierge recommended and arranged several fun excursions. Top fav was rappelling down into a valley of a private farm to swim in waterfalls and then enjoy a gourmet lunch made by the owner of the farm on the banks of the river. Also don’t miss a day on the catamaran touring beaches only accessible by boat. And seeing Palo Verde National Park. Lots of kid friendly activities on the resort, too! The view of sunrise and sunset from the pair of gorgeous private beaches is unrivaled. You’ll never forget this visit!

The resort is beautiful. Service outstanding! There are 2 smaller 4 flour hotel hotel towers and then on either side is a beach . Very good acccess . Two pools and then another pool overlooking ocean . Lots of options for food which was amazing at every restaurant! Again 5 stars all the way from service to taste ,presentation everything.. It was spring break and lots of family with kids , so if your looking for peace and quiet - this is not the time as the “kid” noise of them yelling -excitement , crying etc is from early morning to late night . However it’s over all fabulous.. And the beach is super close and water is wonderful.

I loved it here. It is lively without being too much, there is plenty to do and the staff truly are wonderful and make a difference. I wasn't sure how much I was going to benefit from "great service," but it was everywhere. Making sure I had a full glass of ice water, setting up chairs at the drop of a hat, ordering food from different restaurants simultaneouly to be delivered on the beach... They were very good. I loved our basic Teraza room - it was everything we needed and wanted. There were opportunities for complimentary drinks, ice cream, slush... Yes it is a Four Seasons and it is expensive here, but the value was pretty good. There are plenty of seating options, but if you are a shade person you will have to plan ahead just a bit to figure out where the shade is, how the sun changes through the day, etc. But it is doable. Bonus points for the on-site doctor, which I never wanted to need, but my daughter had an issue with her eye and there was no chaotic trip to urgent care - it was steps from our room at $150/visit. I hope to return.

Four Seasons Costa Rica was outstanding. The view was beautiful, the room was excellent, and the staff was attentive from start to finish. Both beaches were great, and the service at the restaurants was exactly what you would expect from a Four Seasons, if not better. It delivered the kind of high-end, polished experience you hope for when you book a luxury resort.
