Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Has to be in the top 5 hotels in the world. By far the best I’ve ever experienced. Everything is a step above, from the service to the food to the rooms. The staff is genuinely interested in you having an enjoyable time and helpful at every turn but not overbearing at all. The location is so stunning, the atmosphere of the place and among guests is one of gratitude where everyone is just captivated by the sheer beauty and happy to be where they are! It’s very hard to even find a complaint to mention but if I had to, I wish the room had a small pool net to clean the plunge pool leaves as its constantly full. it would also be nice if Mirador breakfast, (which is delicious btw) stayed open a little bit later, although that might not be possible since it transforms into the other restaurant at night.

As a Ritz‑Carlton Reserve property, Nekajui delivers far more than fancy facilities. Yes, the design is luxurious, and it beautifully honors local Costa Rican culture, geography and heritage. But what truly sets this resort apart is its incredible team of people. Words can hardly describe how outstanding every single member of staff is. Our group chat with Enrique and his team was absolutely exceptional. Every single request or question we raised during our stay was handled efficiently and thoughtfully. Beyond Enrique’s group, we received wonderful care from doormen, restaurant servers, dining team, engineers and every staff member we crossed paths with. Many of them remembered our names, even though we could not recall most of theirs. The food across all restaurants is fantastic, the views are breathtaking, rooms are gorgeous, and the whole resort balances high‑end luxury with authentic local culture perfectly. This is not merely a hotel to sleep in; this resort itself is the travel destination. It is hard to imagine finding a better place. This has truly been a flawless, perfect trip. Highly recommend to everyone.

I never write reviews, ever, and I have stayed at some of the most fabulous resorts throughout the world, including several other ritz reserve properties. But this one has compelled me to do so, and I can honestly say this resort is something special, and not having to traverse the globe to access it makes it extra special. The attention to detail, the views, facilities, and butler service is top notch. Esteban and Daniel anticipated every need. We were able to truly relax which is so rare, and any minor needs or mishaps had phenomenal service recovery. We cannot wait to return back to this resort and feel blessed it is so close! Unforgettable experience at Nekajui. The best location in my life. Amazing excursions

Nekajui is still a relatively new property, having opened only about a year and a half ago, so there are naturally a few small details that are not yet absolutely perfect. But what matters much more is how attentive the hotel is, how seriously they listen, and how quickly they adapt. From beginning to end, the entire team was exceptional with us. The setting itself is breathtaking, with absolutely spectacular views in every direction. The feeling of space, peace and privacy is remarkable. Even when the hotel is occupied, you somehow feel as though you have the entire place to yourself. The secluded beach is also beautiful. The sand is dark, as is typical in this volcanic region, but the setting is stunning, peaceful and wonderfully private. The whole Peninsula Papagayo area is exceptional as well, especially for families. Our children absolutely loved it and wanted to go back every day to Papagayo Park, with its water slides, climbing walls, bike and scooter tracks and other activities. It adds another dimension to the stay and makes the destination especially enjoyable with children. Our room was exceptional. We were very generously upgraded, and the attention given to our wedding anniversary went far beyond anything we expected. The room was filled with balloons, beautiful arrangements and fruit, cakes, wine and other treats, and even a bouquet of flowers. This was not the usual small cake and card that many luxury hotels provide — they made a genuine effort to create something memorable and personal. The food was excellent throughout our stay, regardless of the restaurant. Diego, the chef, was incredibly attentive to our needs and is clearly a very talented chef. A very special mention must also go to Miguel at Puna restaurant. He is an exceptional waiter: warm, professional, extremely attentive and somehow able to make the guest feel completely at ease while maintaining impeccable service. He anticipated our needs and was always available for even the smallest request. Manuel and Rodrigo from the management team were also outstanding. Both were extremely attentive, listened carefully whenever something was mentioned and genuinely seemed focused on making our stay as perfect as possible. There may still be a few small things to refine as the property continues to mature, but considering how new the hotel is, the overall experience is already remarkable — and, most importantly, the team clearly has the willingness and attitude to make it even better. In short, this was an extraordinary stay in a truly stunning place, with breathtaking views, a beautiful secluded beach, exceptional service, a rare sense of privacy and a fantastic environment for families. For a few days, it felt like being completely disconnected from the real world. Thank you !
