AKA Rittenhouse Square

I’ll start with the positive: -spacious room - very welcoming and friendly staff -air conditioning unit was extremely quiet - kitchenette was a plus so we could have breakfast and dinner in our room - large microwave -Nespresso coffee maker -quiet at night despite being near the elevator - good water pressure in the shower -location was good - easy access to public transportation - clean room and towels were exceptional Now the cons: -front door to hotel is heavy and not automated; you’ve got to hoist it open to drag your luggage through- several reviews mentioned a doorman but we never saw one -the mattress was as hard as a rock and we are not fussy sleepers, but had a hard time getting comfortable -no black out shades - the room felt like it was daylight at night and made sleeping challenging - several nights of drumming in the Park for hours - at least one night was a political rally; not sure what the other nights were - teeny tiny bathroom - the smallest sink I have ever seen. Difficult to use to put makeup on, etc as the surface space is minimal. Couldn’t use other areas of the room to fix hair and put on makeup as the lighting was too dim. -the kitchenette was missing basic supplies such as a kitchen towel or drain board to dry dishes. - the doors and hallway in the room looked like they needed a good paint job Overall, I did not feel we had the same experience that other reviewers had. Highly recommend this property for rooms, and central location but especially for the warm hospitality! Wister at reception went above and beyond to help make our stay seamless in every way! My husband came down with a bad cold that kept him in bed for days so Wister delivered blankets and water and made sure we were well stocked with coffee, tea, cream and sugar. Always a friendly face when we came through the front doors! Also shout out to Greg on door watch for his engaging and enthusiastic greeting every day - forever ready with an umbrella and a big smile! We had a successful week at Aka because of these two men! We spent a week here and were delighted with the friendliness and responsiveness of the staff! From the receptionists at the main desk including the trainee to Greg, doorman, bellman, and fount of helpful info. His exuberant personality and readiness to be helpful make him a stellar staff member. We had a corner apartment, well equipped with full kitchen, lots of seating areas, and a comfortable bed. And we overlooked the corner of Rittenhouse Square from our window. Quiet and clean with housekeeping only twice, but plenty of towels as needed. Only drawback is the small bathroom.

I worked with Bianca, the Operations Manager at AKA Rittenhouse Square, to help arrange a surprise for my wife and six friends during their annual girls’ weekend. I was not actually staying at the hotel myself, but I wanted to leave a review because Bianca and the rest of the team were so helpful. From the very beginning, Bianca was great to work with. She coordinated with a.kitchen+a.bar, helped arrange food and wine in the suites, made sure a separate flower delivery was received and placed properly, and kept me updated along the way. Everything ended up exactly where it was supposed to be. My wife said the accommodations were fantastic and that they had plenty of room for the dinner they had planned. She and her friends had a great weekend. I also thought it was a nice touch that the Front Desk specifically asked at checkout how their dinner had gone. It showed that the team had actually paid attention to the details of their stay. I do not usually leave hotel reviews, but I really appreciated the care Bianca and the team put into making the weekend special. Their communication and attention to detail were excellent, and I am very grateful for everything they did. We will definitely keep AKA Rittenhouse Square in mind for a future stay in Philadelphia.

From the start, with a great welcome from Wister at the front desk, the experience at the aka Rittenhouse Square was excellent. All of the staff are professional and kind. I had an AMEX reservation and was upgraded to a suite that can better be described as an apartment. It is well equipped. The location is great, however the square is popular and it can get noisy, but it quiets down by 9:30 PM. Had room service from aka kitchen and it was delicious.
