I cannot say enough great things about our stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. We were in town for the weekend for my son who loves history and baseball. This hotel is in the heart of so much Philly history. The hotel concierge, Roshid Milledge, went above and beyond with a surprise bday gift + cake in the room for my little fella! That set the tone for the stay. The uniqueness of the hotel, the special cocktail during cocktail hour and the iced coffee bar also set the hotel apart. We thought the Tavern Burger in the hotel was one of the best burgers we had in the city. Thanks for a great stay!

This hotel is honestly not worth the money. I booked this hotel for 2 nights to see Bruno Mars at Lincoln Financial Field with my daughter. Their website claims that there is complimentary coffee and tea service but when I walked into the lobby at 9:30 in the morning on a Friday, they suddenly had no coffee to offer and the station was completely taken down. Our rooms were subpar. Holes in my daughter’s bedsheets and pillow cases with odd black stains at the foot of the bed. The shower curtain was turning pink due to rust and iron build up on the fabric, along with a depression in the ceiling like there was water collecting in the ceiling above the shower. Water pressure and temperature control was pathetic along with mold in the shower as well. DO NOT DRINK THE WATER THEY PROVIDE IN THE MINI FRIDGE THAT COME IN METAL BOTTLES. They charged me $34.56 because we drank the water that they provided in our room! Nowhere on their website does it state that they charge $8 per bottle. It took me calling the front desk, 6 hours after I checked out to figure out why this charge had occurred. Again, no disclaimer or information about this on their website. Concessions are also disgustingly expensive. My daughter had a stomach ache and bought a bag of pretzels for $9 and a can of Coca Cola for $6. All charged to the room of course, no cash accepted. The only positive thing I have to say about this location is that it is within walking distance of Independence Hall, but there are plenty of other hotels that are also within walking distance of Independence Hall. Do not waste your time here. Lack of communication. If you do still decide to stay here, I recommend asking for an itemized bill of your stay to ensure they are not overcharging you and ask what is complimentary at the front desk.

We enjoyed this hotel very much. It's a great location across from Independence Hall and Liberty Bell...within walking distance of most of the main places to see (although it rained). They give you a welcome bag at check in with water and cookies. There's happy hour 5 to 6, although we didn't partake, but also tea and coffee in the am. The Red Owl Tavern inside the hotel is great. We had dinner there first night and both mornings for Breakfast. Food was great, friendly staff. We took a cab to Hard Rock (about $6 both directions). The bed was comfy which is great for me because they are usually too hard. It's not super soft, but enough. The bathroom was a bit different in this room as it has an inside wall, which obviously holds something. David says perhaps electrical unit, so it interfered with toilet and shower (small space), but otherwise. We enjoyed our stay. We've been blessed to travel. 6 Continents...51 countries. We've stayed at some great hotels (Ritz in Paris, Sacher in Vienna)...so we're a bit picky at this point. We would stay again.

The Concierge Roshid was excellent; gave great advice to my friend and me for discovering the history of the American Revolution in the wealth of museums in the area.
