Reviews for Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia

A Beautiful Stay

I had an overnight stay at the Kimpton Monaco and enjoyed it very much. The staff at reception were friendly and welcoming, had us up in our room in no time. The room was quiet, spacious and very comfortable. We had an excellent night’s sleep and woke up refreshed and happy. As a Diamond Elite member, I was entitled to a free breakfast at the Red Owl Restaurant. The breakfast was the best I’ve had in ages. The staff at the Red Owl were amazing. I now have my “go to” place in Philly!

Not Quite What I Hoped

My wife and I recently stayed at the Kimpton Monaco for a quick getaway and found it to be oh, so…. okay. The property itself is pretty and the location convenient for a tourist. Our room was sizable and clean, especially the bathroom which was very nice but for some of the worst water pressure I’ve ever had in a hotel shower. It took about five minutes for the shower to heat to its maximum temperature which was almost warm enough. The furniture in the room was pretty dented and dinged which isn’t that big of a deal but it didn’t look good. Also, there was no coffee maker in the room; I had to go to the lobby for my morning coffee. The staff were very pleasant and were the highlight of the stay.

Great stay

I had a really enjoyable stay at the Kimpton Monaco while on a recent trip to Philadelphia. It's in a super location in the older part of town and the city itself is very walkable. Checking in was quick and soon in my room on the 6th floor, the rooms are quirky to say the least but they are clean , comfortable and a decent size with everything that you need during your stay including a yoga mat. The bed was very comfortable with crisp linens and good pillows. The wardrobe had plenty of hangers and there was a lot of storage space. Sadly, the view was of a neighboring building so not much to look at. The bathroom was perfectly fine, easy to use shower, the sink area was just tad small once you had all your toiletries on the counter, a minor gripe. Nice shower gel and liquid soap though, really fresh scent. The cocktail/social hour between 5-6 each evening was a fun way to meet other guests and mingle over a free glass or 2 of wine and some nibbles. Did not have breakfast in my rate which was good as there are so many places for breakfast or brunch at the Reading Terminal market downtown and it's a must. The hotel is in a nice historic area right opposite Independence Hall and the Liberty bell. You can walk to a lot of bars and restaurants from here and as well as most of the sights. The metro stop is minutes away if you are coming from the airport. All of the staff were very friendly yet professional. A sign of a great hotel.

Friendly staff and excellent service. The suites are absolutely amazing! I highly recommend them. The restaurant and food top bar are also great.

We didn't like this hotel as much as the Sofitel, which was full. We probably wouldn't stay at Hotel Monaco again. Decoration was weird; no hangers in the room; housekeeping knocked and opened our door despite the occupied signed on the door.
