Kimpton Palomar Philly is really about location and the people — and the people are great. The staff were genuinely lovely, especially the room service attendant on 12/31. We had a quiet king room (no city view). No fireworks noise, though you do hear street noise. The room was on the larger side of small, but everything felt dated: furnishings, curtains, headboard, phone, fixtures, linens, towels — all very ’90s, including the tub/shower combo. The carpet was dingy and it definitely needs a refresh (ask for slippers). Room service came in a bag instead of on a tray, which made eating for two a little awkward. We had our two small dogs with us, and while the hotel itself is very dog-friendly (which we appreciate — it’s why we usually choose Kimptons), the immediate area really isn’t. It’s busy, loud, and there’s no grass nearby. Rittenhouse Square is a short walk away, but when it’s 12° outside, that’s not exactly a practical solution. Food was average, the postcard station is super cute, and overall it feels like a solid 3-star hotel where you’re paying for the location and the staff more than the room itself.

my wife and I stayed at the Palomar the Monday night after Christmas for a one night getaway. Hotel occupancy seemed about 50 to 60%. We stayed at the Palomar multiple times in the past and at their sister property (Hotel Monaco an old city area). The Palomar has finally started to look dated and slightly worn down. Not a big deal, but the leather desk chair in our room had a massive rip in the middle, which obviously no one ever checked. The valet in the front desk staff were amazing as always. Be aware that they charge a $28 resort fee which includes a $20 food and beverage credit. We went down for breakfast Tuesday morning around 9 AM and while the staff did everything in their power, we were told it would be a 50 minute wait even though there were open tables. The place was mobbed so they suggested takeout which would take 15 minutes, but in reality took almost an hour and only because I finally got the restaurant manager‘s attention. The restaurant staff and the cooks were doing the best they could and it’s really not a big deal but quite honestly I don’t ever recall this long the delay of service and a hotel of this kind. It wasn’t just us who were complaining, at one time there were four or five people at the check-in desk with no one to attend because the check-in receptionist was trying to help serve the food. Until the Palomar doesn’t entire refresh, we probably will not stay there again. This is not an indictment on the staff, but the property itself.

Great, cozy hotel in an area of the city very accessible to restaurants, shopping, and cafes. There was an exceptional attention to customer service, particularly Nile who always greeted us with a smile and good conversation when delivering room service. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and large bathroom. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Philadelphia.

I stayed here in the Presidential Suite for NYE and it was the BEST TIME! The suite had all the amenities included: two full bathrooms, jacuzzi tub, living room, kitchenette, double sinks! They even had complimentary snacks, champagne, and waters for the room which was perfect. The view of the city was amazing and I also got to enjoy the jacuzzi tub and breakfast at Square 1682. It was the dreamiest stay and can’t wait to come back!

This was my first experience with the Kimpton Hotels, but it won't be my last. Incredible service (more on that in a moment), fast response to a hot water issue, fun happy hour, perfect location, good food - I really can't find anything to criticize except that there were tons of dogs, which aren't really my thing. Regarding the service, I have to give enormous kudos/stars/blown kisses to the front desk staff, especially Onalisa and Akira. Onalisa actually took the time to confirm that we did not need our room cleaned - I travel often for business and have never had that level of attention. Even if AI helped her, she responded to me immediately. Then there is Akira. I left a bag with several very sentimental items in the hotel lobby. I called from the airport and was told that no one found anything but they would keep my information. I was personally devastated; one item was the Chanukah candelabra that I inherited from my mother and another was a scarf my daughter in Philly knit for me in my favorite color. But no sooner had I resolved to accept the loss and move on did my phone ring during a Chicago layover with the incredible news from Akira that someone found my bag. I literally started crying and told her that was the best holiday gift I'd received in a long time. She directed me to the site for lost items and the package is on its way back to Houston. The Palomar clearly understands the meaning of good customer service, and I will absolutely stay there for any future visits to Philly.
