Outstanding Stay and Tennis Practice

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

While at Biltmore, I reached out to Brendan for couple of private tennis lessons. I have been playing for about 1.5 years and had worked with various coaches. I can confidently say that advise, form and technique adjustments Brendan showed me were some of the most valuable I received. I have been struggling with pace, depth and angles on volleys. After 2 sessions with Brendan, I saw immediate improvement that stuck. He was fantastic at guidance and explanations that very quickly showed results. I was so amazed how some small adjustments can change outcome so quickly! He then did live ball drills for both Doubles and Singles play. I was able to construct some amazing points with skills we worked on. Extremely pleased. Well worth my time and money! Hope to come back and work with him again. Besides tennis - amazing SPA, yoga, food and facilities. One of my favorite resort stays ever!

Not What It Was!

We are owners of a massive travel corporation who visited from Montana to celebrate two friend's birthdays which was a stay-cation for them as we have done at The Biltmore year after year for 15 years. This was our first stay since LXR purchased and it's not the same. The front desk staff is very robotic. The personal touches are long gone. I had to inquire about my Diamond benefit as it was not offered when I checked in. The room itself was nice however, the pillows were flat in all of our rooms and the rooms would not cool down under 72 degrees with it over 105 degrees outside. With the original single pane floor to ceiling windows, it felt more like 76 in the room all the time. McArthur's closed at 8:00PM on a Saturday night. Crazy to me as the hotel was packed all weekend before the start of school. There were no servers in the Wright bar lounge areas, we had to wait at the bar for drinks or take turns to go up so we wouldn't lose our seats. Lastly, I received my bill and see that there is now a "historic preservation fee" added to the bill on top of the resort fee. You would think that a wealthy company like LXR who is investing in a historic property would pay such fees, not their guests. I suspect their pending wrongful death lawsuit is the reason they need to collect as much money from guests as possible. I will never return to the Biltmore and as I travel agent I will never recommend this property as I had for years.

“The Arizona Biltmore: A Five-Star Resort for Moths, Roaches, and Disappointment” Ah, the Arizona Biltmore — a shining gem of “luxury” nestled in the desert, where the only thing more abundant than the sunshine is the insects in your room. Our dreamy getaway began in the Villas, which, as it turns out, are actually located somewhere just shy of New Mexico. After an invigorating half-marathon to reach our outdated room, we were ready to relax. Or so we thought. We changed into our swimsuits and made our way to the Paradise Pool — the highlight of the trip. Kudos to the swim-up bar staff who were lovely and efficient, even as a cockroach decided to crash the party. The hotel was kind enough to comp our drinks and food in exchange for the live entertainment. Back at our room, we were delighted to discover our own personal entomology exhibit. Dead moths sprinkled the floor like confetti, and when we dared to close the curtains, more fluttered out — because what’s a luxury resort without a surprise moth release show? Dinner on property? Delicious, yes. Affordable? Not exactly. But hey, who needs savings when you’re living the high life among dead bugs? Then came the main event: a cockroach in our bathtub. Apparently the resort’s welcome package includes surprise guests. We called the front desk and were promptly visited by a man who kindly removed the roach and suggested we keep the drains closed. Nothing screams “five-star resort” like DIY pest control tips from staff at midnight. We asked to switch rooms and were told we could move the next day — you know, after we packed up everything again and went to a baseball game. Upon our return, the front desk had no idea where our luggage was. (They had it.) Eventually, we were handed new keys and sent to a room in the Paradise Wing — which was actually nice! Improvement at last... until the luggage arrived. Moths literally flew out of my sister’s brand-new Vineyard Vines bag. Because nothing says “resort chic” like insect-infested accessories. Oh, and the cherry on top? No apology. No compensation. Not even the balcony we paid for. But at least we now have a story that will haunt our group chats forever. Will we return to the Arizona Biltmore? Only if we’re reincarnated as moths.

Great experience in Ocatilla wing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We stayed in the newer Ocatilla wing and had a phenomenal experience. The room design is 10/10, with subtle nods to Frank Lloyd Wright’s experience. The bed and bedding are perfect, the rain shower was relaxing and the soaps had a great scent. The curtains block 100% of the light, which is important to me. Service was fast and friendly, btw margs are $10 on Tuesdays, IMO this is a standout hotel because you won’t see design like this anywhere else. They put effort into the tiniest details and it all comes together to make a unique and luxurious impact. And of course it’s amazing to see the original Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass in the lobby. This is the only hotel I want to stay in when I’m here.
