A Disappointing Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

My stay at the Amora Beach Resort fell far short of what is advertised. The hotel promotes itself as a resort with three restaurants and an “all-inclusive” option, but my experience did not match this description. I booked a one-week stay with an all-inclusive package and, on the very first day, I was informed that only breakfast was served as a buffet. Lunch and dinner were à la carte, with the limitation of choosing only one starter, one main course, and one dessert, with no possibility of repeating dishes or ordering extra portions. There are no snacks available throughout the day, which is quite uncommon for a resort claiming to offer an all-inclusive service. Another important point is that the restaurant menu never changes. The same dishes are served every day, making the meals repetitive over the course of a week. In addition, in practice, there is only one restaurant included, the ISLA. The beach restaurant/bar NORA charges for everything separately — sunbeds, drinks, and food — and the prices are very high. At ISLA, waiting times were consistently long, with 20–30 minutes just to receive the starters. No bread is served, and the main courses are very small. For example, the chicken burger I ordered was roughly the size of a tablespoon, something that would be considered a starter or snack in Europe, not a main course. Only the Thai dishes had portions comparable to a normal main meal. The beach experience was also disappointing. On the first day, I arrived at 9 a.m. and there were no sunbeds available: many were “reserved” with towels or personal items, staying unused for hours. Staff members saw the situation but did nothing to manage it. In the room, the shower is fixed and there is no option for a handheld shower, and it is installed very low, making it uncomfortable for anyone taller than 1.60 m. Finally, the resort offers no evening entertainment or activities, which contributed to an even more monotonous stay. Overall, the stay was far below the standard expected from a resort, especially considering what is advertised. Unfortunately, I would not recommend it.
