Anantara Layan Phuket Resort

We stayed at Anantara Layan in June with high expectations for a relaxing family holiday. Unfortunately, our experience was disrupted by several serious issues — most notably a safety incident that could have ended very differently. While walking along the path next to our room, a large tree branch suddenly fell from above, landing directly in front of us. My children were just steps away from getting hurt. At a property of this standard, I expected better oversight of the grounds — especially in areas where families move about freely. The bathtub drain in our villa wasn’t working. I was told the repair would take about 1.5 hours, so I left the room to allow the work to be done. Unfortunately, the problem returned the next day and required another round of maintenance. In another room, the rain shower was faulty, spraying water onto the ceiling — again needing repair. After multiple issues like this, it became difficult to feel confident in the resort’s overall quality control. I’ve stayed in far more modest accommodations where these basics were handled better. There was also ongoing construction and renovation noise in several areas, which further detracted from the peaceful experience we expected. On a positive note, the staff were polite and helpful throughout. A special thanks to Peemai at the kids club — she was wonderful with our children. But between the safety concerns, repeated maintenance problems, and constant noise, it just wasn’t the relaxing family trip we had hoped for. We trusted the Anantara name to deliver a quality stay — but this visit left us questioning that.

This was a fantastic stay. Exceptional hospitality all round. The attention to detail was incredible. Immaculate room, service, facilities etc. I would like to thank Dao on reception and Naddee at the Breeze Bar. They were immensely helpful, personable and polite. They are both excellent ambassadors for this great hotel.

Stay was great. Staff are really great. Very helpful, welcoming, kind and polite. The room has great view. Room service is wonderful as well.

This resort was exactly what we needed. We came from a very loud hotel and this resort helped us unwind and relax. The staff is wonderful. Prince always made sure we were taken care of. We ate at Dara and Zuma for dinner and the food was delicious. The pool gives a beautiful view, as it is overlooking the beach. The spa had so much to offer with very advanced machines in the gym. The resort offers many different types of classes every day from active classes to more relaxing ones like the Sound Bath, which I took. If I were to return to Thailand I would absolutely stay here again.
