Anantara Layan Phuket Resort

A flawless resort experience. They strive for excellence in every way and achieve it. Simply amazing in every way, from location to facilities to customer service.

Just a lot of little issues. I received an email before we arrived. I responded with the time and said if it was possible to get into our room earlier than 3:00 pm that would be appreciated. I got a response that I’d have to pay a full room rate for an additional night. I said that wasn’t a welcoming response. They apologized and said they would make every effort. When we arrived we did get in earlier so that was good. When we got into our room (I paid for an upgrade from our initial booking) we went out to enjoy the pool in our villa. It immediately wasn’t great as there was construction happening close to our room. So we went back into our room as it wasn’t relaxing. Then, shortly thereafter some of the hotel staff started drilling into the wall of our villa. I had to go out and ask them to please stop. After this I called the front desk and complained. They agreed to move us the next day but couldn’t immediately as the resort was fully booked. We then decided to go for dinner at one of the resort hotels. We ordered two appetizers and two small pasta dishes. The quality was average at best and portions incredibly small. This cost is $3,750 Baht or $150 Canadian. That is excessive by any standard for small portions and average food. When we returned to our room after dinner, we could hear the blasting music from the main building with the restaurants. It was like staying next to a night club and we had to use ear plugs to sleep. Our travel agent shared all our concerns and we did change rooms the next day. We specifically asked for a quiet room away from the main building. It was better but couldn’t immediately still clearly hear the music in the room. Our travel agent suggested it be turned down for the benefit of all guests. They did not do that. Beyond all this, this resort was a massive disappointment and definitely not a 5-star, relaxing resort experience we expected. Especially given the high prices.

Our return to the Anantara Layan did not disappoint. A beautiful hotel set in a fantastic secluded position and boasts great facilites, including the gym, restaurants and rooms; the latter being one of the best we have ever stayed in. Whilst the facilities are a huge lever in attracting clients it’s staff and their attitude is its biggest weapon. They are a credit to the hotel. Special mention to; - The site duty managers Camille and Mina. - Noon, Dao, Bella, Noi, Mod and Ammie in the Spa. - Dao, Luke, Milk and Pim from Villa Operation. - Wood and all the team members on the beach including Tony and his team. - And all the other team members from Housekeeping to the Buggy team. Thanks for a wonderful stay and hope to return.

Exceptional service. The staff are very attentive to help with caring. They go out of their way to help. One of a kind experience that I had a peaceful and memorable experience. The view of the room is stunning.

Anantara Layan Hotel Review – Short & Sharp • Location: Beautiful Layan setting—peaceful, private, and comfortably away from the busy Patong crowds. • Hotel: Excellent setup with spacious rooms, elegant design, and genuinely warm service. • Exceptional Facilities: The wellness centre and active zone are standout features—outdoor gym, boxing ring, and a great energy for staying active. • Restaurants: Overall very good, but Darra is on a whole different level. The dishes are refined, creative, and executed with true culinary artistry. Every plate felt like a masterpiece—flavours balanced perfectly, ingredients treated with real respect. The chef’s passion is clear in every bite. We loved it so much that we ended up dining there three nights in a row. We were surprised how come its not michelin start yet!
