Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket

Beautiful hotel set in magnificent manicured gardens with wildlife, including monitor lizards, all around. Staff are helpful and friendly as expected in Thailand and the hotel is only minutes from local bars and restaurants.

Centara So much potential, but so poorly managed. This hotel has the potential to be one of the best on the island, but costs have been cut in so many places, that it is very visible and really takes it from a 5* to 3* hotel. We stayed here for a 5 day family vacation with 2 young kids. 1. Room quality and housekeeping - the quality of the rooms is so so, we were welcomed by bedding that was torn and had holes in it - not what you expect from a 5* hotel. Secondly, housekeeping was so inconsistent, one day they didnt come and clean the room until 7pm. Thirdly our balcony was infested with bugs making it unusable, so had to change rooms half way through the stay which is very frustrating (they offered us a free dinner for 2 - food only - to apologise). Finally even in the new room, the paint was peeling off the walls and parts of the room were completely covered in dust, they need a deep clean. 2. Pool - pool area is nice, but poorly maintained, the drainage covers around the pool are broken, and both kids ended up cutting their feet on sharp objects. Also, the pool service is non existent, no service to take away empty glasses, no trash bins to dump rubbish, no pool boys taking away old towels so sun beds get hogged all day. They operate a towel card service to encourage people to return towels, but very poorly managed. 3. Cheap tactics - this part bugged me the most, upon arrival, they force you to download an app which they use to bombard you with notifications, its non stop. They charge 100THB to simply use the laundry bag in the room, they charge 800THB for taking any food items from the breakfast buffet. These cheap tactics make it feel more like a TUI hotel than a premium 5* hotel, it just kills the vibe. Even the kids club, you need to buy tokens to use the games (air hockey/virtual bowling etc.) and they only accept cash, just feels cheap. 4. Reception - The reception area is very small for a resort of this size, congested and not fit for purpose. No help on arrival with bags as limited bell boys. I had emailed ahead of time requesting help with getting a room earlier as we had long travels with 2 young kids, but they stuck to their 3pm check in policy, which is fine, albeit a reflection on the hotel that they are not there to support, or go the extra mile, which is not what I expect from a 5* resort. 5. Kids club - credit where credit is due, the staff in kids club are great. All in all, with some proper management and a mindset change, this really could be a 5* resort, but its not there yet. And I wouldnt stay here again.

We could not fault this hotel. We stayed in a large room with a wraparound balcony it was lovely and spacious. Swimming pool area was lovely with direct access to the beach. It is easy to walk along the beach to bars restaurants and shops. Can also be accessed via the road but a bit precarious as you come out of the hotel as there is no walkway so beach is better. It is so easy to get a taxi. We stayed for 5 nights bed and breakfast, lots to choose from. All staff were so helpful and courteous.

Great and beautiful resort. The kids club is super cool, the staff is awesome especially Mon pang kwan are soo kind, friendly and nice to the lids! Thank you soooo much!!! Bar loves you!

Booked this resort for 5 days and tomorrow we are leaving for Krabi. We cannot recommend this place enough! We got upgraded to a fantastic villa where we have spent a lot of time in our private pool. All the staff are amazing, so helpful and attentive. Cannot remember all their names but Waew (?) in the housekeeping and Sam in breakfast among all the others did a great job. Staff in the spa are very professional and did a miraculous job with my husband’s neck. Surroundings incredible And beautiful beach. We definitely come back next time we visit Phuket! A huge thank you to everybody in Centara grand beach resort!
