About the Hotel

The Slate is no ordinary beachside resort of thatched-roof cabanas – in its secluded location against a backdrop of dense rainforest, it crosses into the territory of cutting-edge design hotel, and the juxtaposition of nature and industry is alluring. The inspiration for The Slate came from owner Wichit Na-Ranong, whose ancestors led the country’s development through the tin mining industry. Na-Ranong pays tribute to “black gold” through sleek architecture and dark color motifs punctuated by objets d’art. Restaurants Rivet and Rebar, led by chef Fabrizio Crocetta, serve up some of Thailand’s most innovative and eclectic fare.

Fifth or sixth time we have stayed at The Slate. We just keep coming back. Everything about this hotel just delivers, location close to the airport, close to the beach, beautiful grounds, wonderful breakfast and amazing restaurants especially Black Ginger and of course the staff who make this hotel run. Can't wait to come back...

Exceptional stay at The Slate!

Everything about our stay was simply amazing. The unique industrial-chic design, beautiful lush surroundings, and top-notch service made our holiday unforgettable. The staff were warm and attentive, and the facilities were pristine. We couldn't have asked for a better experience on Phuket. Highly recommended!

Serenity

The Slate exceeded our expectations in every way. We have travelled widely and don’t usually return to the same place but this one can’t be beaten. We have now visited four times and will be back. Thank you for the perfect serenity.

The Slate Hotel Phuket, a special experience.

Having stayed in many hotels in different parts of the world, The Slate Hotel (formerly Indigo Pearl) has lured me back since 2009 many times, and if it wasn't for Covid there would be a couple of more visits. From it's large rooms to its beautiful sprawling gardens, it's a low rise resort in a quiet location with a village just outside the hotel. From it's 3 pools to 4 restaurants, Black Ginger, Rivet, Tin Mine to Tongkha Tin Syndicate, it's everything from more formal to casual dining. Head outside the resort towards the beach early evening and you'll be rewarded with a magnificent ocean sunset, another plus, after a long flight The Slate is only 10 mniutes from Phuket airport. Aside form all this what really makes The Slate special are the wonderful and friendly staff, from the breakfat crew, to housekeeping and reception to personal attention from the hotel manager Peter Wagner, all deserve a thank you from me.

Wonderful resort

Well, I don’t even know where to start. The Slate was our last minute booking as the place where we were staying before was a great disappointment and I didn't want to remember my last week of holiday in Phuket as miserable. So, I found the Slate via Luxury Escapes, liked the reviews and the location, so I booked. WOW, I didn’t regret that decision. From our arrival to the departure we were treated like the dearest guests, always greeted with smiles, the staff were always eager to help and make our stay even more comfortable. I had an impression that the hotel have thought of every detail, you need something they’ve already thought about it and delivered it to you. We just couldn’t find any faults. By the way, the bedding in the room was fantastic, I even purchased some from the gift shop to take it home. I’d also recommend the Black Ginger for dinner. Just go for the experience. While the food was alright, the vibe of the place was 10 out of 10. And check out the restaurant’s bathrooms. I’d definitely recommend the Slate. My only advice, if you are a light sleeper ask for a room on the top floor away from hotel bars and children’s pool, the rooms are not very sound proof. Otherwise, no complaints at all. Ah, and the breakfast was superb. Those little danish pastries were to die for.
