Thavorn Palm Beach Resort

Booked 7 nights at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort but after just one night we left and booked another hotel elsewhere in Phuket. Easily the worst resort experience I’ve ever had. This hotel claims to be 5-star, but I’ve honestly stayed in far better 3-star accommodation around the world. I was encouraged to book directly with the hotel for a discount, which unfortunately also means I can’t leave a review on Booking.com. I travel frequently, have visited over 55 countries, and have stayed in everything from hostels to premium luxury resorts, so I understand that standards vary — but this was genuinely unacceptable. The room was dirty, run down and poorly maintained. The bathroom had an old internal window covered by stained, mouldy curtains which looked unhygienic and neglected. There were also dead bugs left in the room that were never cleaned away during our stay. The resort was heavily infested with mosquitoes — far beyond what you would reasonably expect in Thailand. As someone travelling with a baby, this was especially concerning due to the risk of dengue and other mosquito-borne illnesses. Families with young children should be aware of this. The bed was extremely lumpy and uncomfortable, to the point where you would sink into it. It honestly felt like old mattresses covered with doonas under the sheets. The baby cot provided was also unsafe, with no proper mattress — just scrunched up doonas inside. Fridge also leaked water. To make matters worse, the staff were unpleasant and unhelpful throughout our stay. Very disappointing experience and absolutely not somewhere I would recommend, especially for families travelling with families. I have never had to leave a hotel like this. Unfortunate waste of money as we had to lose multiple nights. No apology or concern from staff. I requested the room be sprayed for mosquitos but the request wasn’t delivered. Lots of still water across the gardens of the hotel which aren’t maintained which increase the problem and no fogging.

Great location opposite beach and close to bars and restaurants. Great pool with 4 slides kids well entertained. Eddie in the lobby fantastic help for us organizing taxis etc. Staff in the pool bar great fun. Staff, Dream, Ware, Max. Great blokes. Flame the juggler stole the show. No.1

An exceptional stay, from start to finish. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but this hotel truly deserves it. This was without a doubt the most beautiful holiday I have ever had — and I have stayed in many hotels over the years. The cleanliness throughout the property is impeccable. The service is outstanding across the board, but I want to give a special mention to the staff at the Splash pool, who were incredibly warm and attentive, and to JJ at the Rivière pool — a true gem who made every single day special. The team at the Océan Rymé restaurant also deserves recognition for their care, professionalism, and genuine kindness. My children had an absolutely wonderful time, and seeing them so happy made this trip even more memorable. This is the kind of hotel that sets the standard. We will be back.

Just the right place to visit with family and have a fine holiday here. Everything is charming here.
