With breathtaking views of PNC Park, the restored downtown and the Pittsburgh city skyline, our guests have the immediate feeling of truly being in the center of it all.

This is not a luxury or 5 star hotel, I'd hesitate to say it is upscale beyond the first three floors of the building. I booked multiple rooms via the Amex Hotel Collection as I've had good experiences in the past with all hotels that participate in the program and this is the first that has failed to meet expectations. The hotel provided the Hotel Collection benefits for the most part. We were able to check-in at noon on check-in day. We did not receive a room upgrade for either room, however they were located next to each other. We did receive the $100 credit per room. We were able to secure a late checkout, but only until 2 PM and not 4 PM. Location is great if you're in the city for sports, everything is walkable and there are many businesses and restaurants nearby. The view from the room was great. Staff was friendly and I did get a pre-arrival and mid-stay check-in text. More on that in a bit. The lobby, restaurant and gym floors are very nice and give the illusion of a luxury property, but we're all ultimately here to stay in a nice room, right? The rooms are dated and not well maintained for a $400/night asking price, there's no way around it. To add insult to injury, valet is $65/night. A "luxury" hotel room should not have the following issues: Stains on the carpet Stains on the ceiling Stains on window curtains Rusting shower fixtures A bathroom with a half water closet with no door Peeling wallpaper Scuffed and scratched bed headboard Visible layer of dust on all surfaces Insufficient lighting, switches that are broken or don't do anything, burnt out light bulbs Dirty and basic Keurig machine Lack of complementary water ($6 if you want a single 12oz bottle from the mini-bar) Near unusable TV due to slow user interface When I received the mid-stay text asking how everything was, I mentioned the issues above and *the next day* I received an apology, an offer for some water and a dining credit, really not enough for something that should have been included as far as the water goes and the bare minimum as far as compensation. We had already had brunch at the fl. 2 restaurant earlier in the stay and we were not impressed. Ultimately we received some waters (same $6 bottles in the room), some chocolate and assorted nuts. This property does not meet the bar for the Hotel Collection and I would not recommend staying here at this elevated pricing.

We arrived at the Fairmont on a Friday and left on a Tuesday. Having read the reviews, I was prepared for a run down hotel but can confirm it was not. I travel a lot and I do not expect perfection so I don't nitpick tiny blemishes or imperfections. You are going to have those when you have a volume of various people coming through a space. Check in was easy and cordial. The valet was good at taking our car and bringing it around. We ate at the restaurant once and it was good. The bartender made an excellent espresso martini. The Starbucks in the lobby was convenient and I liked being able to sit on the lobby sofa and people watch out of the big windows. There is a little Market Square across the street with a darling little store and several restaurants. We ate at two of them and both were good. The little pizza place was VERY good. The hotel spa was also nice. Nothing spectacular or over the top but it was quiet and the massage I got was definitely in my top five list. This was lodging while my daughter attended a lab class at a local university we came up for and we will absolutely stay there again when we have to come back. The only complaint I have which was completely out of the hotel's control was the construction going on on the street out front. The jack hammer was so loud and I think they were working through the night and it was difficult to get back to sleep once it woke me up. But, again, the hotel had zero control over that.

The location is great, right in downtown and walking distance to several restaurants. Rooms are big and comfortable. Restaurant & bar is ok, limited options tho. They really need to invest in maintenance, you can see dents and scratches on the walls and furniture, also need to focus on cleaning, seems like they only pretend to clean your room and make the bed. It’s starting to feel like an old hotel

Had a 2 night stay here while visiting Pittsburgh on business. This hotel is really classy and modern located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Very easy to get to, and you can pull right into the parking garage then proceed to check in. Staff at the desk are very friendly and professional I had an amazing view from my room. Another nice feature is the location. It is within easy walking distance of the river walkway, as well as walking across the Roberto Clemente Bridge to PNC Park (baseball), and could probably walk to the football stadium and PPG Arena as well. Many restaurants are very close as well. Just watch out for the lantern flies!
