Very hospitable, great atmosphere. Customer service at the restaurant is A+. Great service, great food, reasonable prices

Clean and beautiful area, beautiful pool and beach with kayaks and bean bag chairs, staff was friendly, food at restaurant was okay but other restaurants around were much better. Would recommend getting bikes or golf carts to get around if you are planning to explore Placencia, the resort shuttle was not included in overall price. Overall we had a good experience

We'll stayed for 4 days and 4 nights in Itz'ana Resort Placencia, in a Beachfront Suite, more accurately a lodge. The Itz'ana Resort is located not close to Placencia (aroud 4 miles, or 6,2 km). When we arrived to our suite, there was an infernal noise of construction works in one of the suites next to ours. I complained at reception and the construction noise stopped. Our suite was good overall, and there had been renovations. However, the bathroom was outdated and in need of improvement. The mattress was of very poor quality for a low-quality hotel, let alone a resort in the Small Luxury Hotels chain... The Wi-Fi internet either doesn't work or works very poorly in the resort suites. Wi-Fi is only available near the reception, restaurant area, and pool. I had booked a tour with the resort's concierge services 5 months prior. About a month before our arrival, I reconfirmed the tour. Upon arrival, I confirmed the tour again and they provided me with the details. I note that it was a very expensive tour, far more expensive than what could be obtained through any local agency. Even so, I chose to book this tour using the hotel's services, hoping to receive better service. On the day of the tour, we arrived at the designated time at the indicated location (Concierge area) and waited 45 minutes without anyone from Concierge asking us what we wanted. At that point, I took the initiative to say that we had been waiting for 45 minutes and asked what was happening with our tour. After making one or two phone calls, they told me that the tour would not take place because there had been a problem with the boat. Nonsense... In Placencia there are numerous boats that could have been used as an alternative, and if there had been any problem, it was their responsibility to inform us. The continental breakfast service was very poor, not even up to the standard of a simple 1-star hotel, let alone a resort in the Small Luxury Hotels chain... The quality of the meals, in general, was very much out of line with their cost, which was exorbitant. Furthermore, the menu does not include taxes and fees, totaling 22.5%. Moreover, despite a mandatory 10% service charge, they still ask for a tip on the meal bill. The hotel operates on the principle of "tip hunting"!... In conclusion: the resort has reasonable facilities, but provides poor service. The Wi-Fi service in the rooms does not work. The mattress is below terrible. The meals are weak for their cost. The concierge service for transfers and tours is expensive and does not work properly. All that remains is for me to commend the excellent work of two resort employees: Lori and Sarah. You were both outstanding. Your work, dedication and kindness are far above Itz'ana Resort Standards.

Itzana is a beautiful property that sits on the ocean front and has beautiful amenities spanning from an infinity pool, every day activities or deals hosted by the hotel and a tropical feel with relaxing vibes. We stayed in the king deluxe room (#10) and it was better than the photos showed. It was well stocked with a variety of items and had nice touches that you would expect at this class of hotel. The outdoor property amenities are really what sells this place. It has fun games like corn hole, easy access to the beach for all fitness levels, a swing set, day beds spread through the pool and ocean front and easy access to the hotel as it mostly wraps around the pool and beach access. The pool is a gorgeous infinity pool that was a nice refreshing temperature (slightly colder than the ocean) with easy access to a pool bar. When we were here, there was a lot of training of employees and staff and this was apparent in some of the interactions that they were less experienced but we're very nice. If you are a foodie, you can definetly test out your pallette here. They offer a decent selection from simple foods to more expansive selections. The breakfast (carribean French toast) was to die for! Overall, we felt we could recommend this to another couple looking for a romantic getaway or a friend's celebrating. 5/5 for property 4.8/5 food value 4.5/5 for staff experience 5/5 for the pool 4.5/5 ease of access to activities. 4.0/ for walkability to culturally dense areas or the town. There is a minimal amount around but you could find local resturants. The hotel will drive you somewhere for a small fee.

Beautiful grounds. Warm and helpful staff. Would recommend. Food in the restaurant was tasty and the drinks were enjoyable. Staff definitely get 5 stars.
