Andaz Mayakoba is a luxury boutique hotel from Hyatt group located just minutes north of downtown Playa del Carmen, the hotel offers easy access to this popular town while also ensuring quiet retreat is never far away, that because Andaz Mayakoba is not a mega resort. The hotel is split up into two sections: Beach & Lagoon, and the distance between these two areas is surprising as they are a mile apart. For that reason, there are many bicycles that guests can use to ride around and there is always a golf cart around providing transportation. Four unique restaurants offer distinguished culinary experiences for which Andaz hotels are known. Inside, the guest rooms and suites are inspired by nature, with breezy open layouts flooded with natural light, and filled with refined artisanal décor. Local artworks adorn the walls, while complimentary Wi-Fi Internet keeps guests up to date.

A wonderful family vacation spent at the Alila, Mayakoba We had such a lovely time at the Alila, Mayakoba. We truly didn’t want to leave. Everything was amazing from the moment we stepped foot onto the property and the warm welcome from Luis at the front desk with the refreshing drinks to the great and attentive butler, Ana, who tended to our questions/inquiries, reservations and requests. Brenda and Motse the front desk manager and supervisors made sure everything went smoothly and we are so grateful for their help. Omar and Oscar were so helpful and were so lovely always asking us how our stay has been and how they can be of assistance even though they weren’t our assigned butlers. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast at Ninguno taqueria and were really pleased by the service offered by Jovani and Krystal. The À la carte food was great and we really enjoyed the fresh fruit and refreshing drinks on their menu. Marco and Gabi were so lovely and welcoming at the poolside everyday and made us feel at home every day. Sergio was a great lagoon boat driver and was very knowledgeable about the history of the property, the wildlife and scenery - we really enjoyed our complementary lagoon boat ride. And last but not least the staff operating the shuttles/golf cart rides across the property were always so lovely and welcoming - I wish we wrote down all of their names but honestly we didn’t have one bad experience riding the golf carts back and forth to and from the beach all day. Among which were Leonardo and Herviz. Nao and Domingo were excellent waiters at Na restaurant and Casa Amate. Chef Enrique at Na and the sous chef and all the amazing line cooks and pastry chefs were AMAZING! Wish we had one more night to go to Na again. The spa is beautifully done and decorated - nestled in the beautiful Mayakoba nature and the spa attendants were really great and knew exactly what they were doing. Overall we had an unbelievably wonderful and comfortable stay at Alila and can’t wait to visit again and make more memories there.

Loved the renovated rooms. Hard product is on point. The lagoon pool was closed as well as some restaurants. Although some staff forgot requests and had to follow up, most of the staff were very friendly and helpful in recommending places to visit. A boat tour of the area was very fun as well as the cenote tour inside the Mayakoba complex. Would love to come back and try restaurants in other resorts as well.

We have stayed within the Mayakoba complex numerous times over the years, including multiple stays at Andaz, so we came to Alila with genuine goodwill and high expectations. Unfortunately, this visit was by far the worst experience we have had on the property. The resort was operating with only two restaurants and a single pool open, which made for a frustratingly limited experience at a hotel that charges premium prices. With so few options available, everything felt congested and stretched thin. The beach was effectively inaccessible due to a significant buildup of sargassum that had not been cleaned up, which is a major issue given that the beach is one of the primary reasons guests choose this destination. Perhaps most surprising for a property that markets itself as a tranquil, adults-oriented luxury retreat was the sheer volume of children throughout the resort. At any given time, there were ten or more kids in the lobby, restaurants, and at the pool. For guests seeking the quiet, refined atmosphere this caliber of property should deliver, it was a constant disruption. We want to love this resort and we have loved others within Mayakoba, but we cannot recommend Alila in its current state. If you are considering a stay here, we would encourage you to look elsewhere within the complex until the property fully reopens its amenities and addresses the beach conditions.

Best hotel stay that I can remember. I don’t want to raise expectations that will only lead to disappointment but beautiful property, great hotel suite, the best staff ever and all located in paradise!

Stayed 2 nights at Alila Mayakoba and had a wonderful stay. The Mayakoba complex itself is stunning, protected mangroves, clear lagoons, beautiful landscaping, and a real sense of privacy and security. You can tell the property is exceptionally well maintained. The hotel has a calm, refined “escape” feeling. Beach and pools never felt crowded, and breakfast by the ocean was a highlight. Room was elegant and comfortable, great scent throughout the property, lovely balcony, thoughtful lighting, plenty of bottled water. Service was outstanding from the welcome ritual to turndown. Housekeeping was incredibly detailed, and the butler team was responsive and even helped arrange the eco boat tour. Dining was very good, especially breakfast. Dinner was pricey but enjoyable, with strong service and some standout seafood dishes. Only minor downsides: hot water was slow, toiletries were average, and getting anywhere requires resort transportation. Overall, a very peaceful and polished luxury resort that feels integrated with nature. If you like quiet, design-forward resorts with strong service, this is a special place. Would return.
