Banyan Tree Mayakoba

The resort was beautiful. Our 3 bedroom villa was pristine. The entire staff from housekeeping to restaurants employees (I have a serious food allergy) were kind & accommodating. Our concierge, Madai, went above & beyond for us-besides making our reservations, she recommended some wonderful places to visit in the area. We had one of our most memorable family vacations. This view! And privacy. So relaxing. We stayed a few years ago on the lagoon, which is amazing. But this time we had a beachfront villa, and it is so wonderful. It is hard to leave it, because our villa has the ocean view, a pool and beach chairs. So why would we even go to the main resort pool? Best employee we met so far was Osiel, who went well outside of his job to confirm our days would be perfect, even securing another chair at the beach and umbrellas. The sound of the ocean and the wind in the palms outside our villa is bliss. Food service in the restaurants can be fairly slow but I think that’s cultural, and it is good to make us slow down when we are here. Love the bike trails but didn’t use them this trip because it is sooo hard to leave our ocean villa. Well done, Banyan Tree.

Room was very comfortable and laid out well for a couple. The room overlooked the pool which is beautiful. Overall the experience was great. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds. Service was top notch. The only critique was that after spending so much money for the hotel we’re hoping that it would be all inclusive. However there were still fees for silly things for example when we asked for a whole avocado at breakfast (which was supposed to be included in our stay) we were told there would be an added $5 charge. Our martinis were appx $75 etc. we had a personal concierge Claudia who was beyond amazing. Roger and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Overall it was an excellent five star experience for a couple looking for a few nights to reconnect.

The staff was phenomenal throughout the resort, but I was especially impressed by the beach staff. Roger, Edween, and Jorge made the 3pm volleyball games inclusive, competitive, and incredibly fun — even jumping in to play themselves. All ages (from 8 to 45) participated, and it was definitely the highlight of my trip. Thanks again to the beach staff for bringing such great energy!
