This was our 23rd time here. We celebrated our 21st anniversary. As always, the staff and service were excellent. Our butlers Victor and Israel were great along with our favorite bartender Renee. The entertainment staff: Jerik, Mafey, Osvaldo, D'jchris and Alex did a great job. Can't wait to go back.

You can read the other 9000+ reviews about location, activities, amenities, meals, etc. that make El Dorado Maroma so special. I want to call out the MARVELOUS STAFF, particularly Mauricio, who led our kayak / snorkel adventure to the offshore mini-cenote. It was so much fun, and he and Jerik made it extra special for the two of us! During the rest of our stay, we kept in touch with Maurico for priceless advice and assistance in planning other activities including a day trip to nearby Puerto Morelos for snorkeling over the Mesoamerican Reef. Don't miss a chance to meet up with him when you go! Also a shout out to Javier, who was our concierge when we arrived and met up with us a few more times during our stay. I wish I'd retained the names of the many restaurant staff that prepared and served our delicious meals, and were attentive to my food sensitivity issue. The bottom line for me: "I'll be back!"

Let's face it, the beaches in Mexico are a construction zone. Even in the wee hours before sunrise the heavy equipment is moving seaweed. So instead of the top rated beautiful beach we were promised, we have a beach covered in tire prints. I get the necessity. And it isn't the resorts fault that mother nature wants to throw weeds at the coast. But it ruins the vibe. I know that they can't just leave it be. The stuff smells like sewage. Even worse for a peaceful relaxing day. And I hate to even think about the expense. We kept seeing reviews that the didn't have elevators. I was concerned about walking up 3-4 flights repeatedly. I think most of the buildings are 2-3 floors except building 12. It has 5 floors and an elevator. If you have physical restrictions, email them ahead of time (I did) and they will try to work with you. Building 12 is further from the beach but much quieter. The staff was absolutely amazing! These were some of the wonderful people, I know I missed some: Arturo at Pepito. Karen, Armando, Cesar and Marco at the beach/bar. Denis at the taqueria. Sergio at Mio. Josefa in housekeeping. Bertin at Lima Limon. Our Concierge Dennys and Javier. Late in our stay I discovered the electronic board in the lobby that showed activities. This resort has many bright spots. The food was mostly a win. The steaks are thin, but tender. That has been a long running issue at resorts for us. Steaks like leather. The service was top notch, most of the time. I remind myself often that they run on a slower pace. Meals are not dine and dash, but to be savored. But a few times I felt like we'd been forgotten. But most times it felt like our server bent over backwards to make us happy. Our favorite dinner was Mio with Caribbean Grill a close 2nd. Breakfast was Lima Lemon. Lunch most days was at the Taqueria. The Taqueria was amazing; food, service and the ability to decide how much you wanted between breakfast and dinner. 1 taco or 5. Special shout out to Pepito for the whole (bone in) garlic and lemon fried fish that was amazing. We used room service our 1st night, as we arrived late and did not have reservations. The club sandwich had an egg on it, which was odd to us. The fries were great - hot and crispy. Friends said the pizza was really good. But the rest of the week was mainly for late night dessert. I love tres leches, but the cheesecake won. When you stand on the beach looking at the resort, the left side is busier. The right side quieter. We spent our week on the quiet side which suited 3 of the 4 of us. Me being the one bored, as I like to people watch. If you are looking for quiet (despite music playing everywhere) this might be the place for you. The resort is tiny with many lush winding paths. We've never been at a resort this green. So much landscaping. Hidden gem: Find the Italian restaurant (Mio) walk down the right side of it. There is a walkway full of orchids. Despite exploring the resort, I did not find this beautiful place until the night before we left.

Maroma is a boutique resort in the El Dorado family. We stayed in the connected Palifitos over the water bungalows. This is more of a mature couples resort, not a party resort. The food and grounds are great. The staff is really fantastic!! Everyone is so friendly and want you to have a great time. Special shout out to Butlers Liz, Frananda, Aldo, William, Alvero, and restaurant Pamela and Randy and Arturo, Andres.
