Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort features spectacular design in the midst of the most vibrant, modern and innovative area of Playa del Carmen. Its extraordinary location, facing the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, stands as a wonderful option for those seeking a lifestyle break beside the most beloved beach in the area, Playa Mamitas. The design concept, by acclaimed Mexican architect Sordo Madaleno and the award-winning New York-based Rockwell Group, crafts original and memorable spaces with subtle characteristics that embody the spirit of the destination through natural elements, artwork, textures and light. As one of the most relaxing Playa del Carmen resorts, the 314 guestrooms and suites at Grand Hyatt create an oasis, with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing for amazing views of disarming natural beauty. Note that the pool bar on the north side can play loud music, so you might want to request a room on the south side.

When you spend $75 for 2 eggs toast 1 coffee 1 bottle of water and a plate of swirled spaghetti with few pieces of chicken it’s terrible and it’s a rip off. Go to Mia Homemade in Playa Del Carmen. You will thank me. It’s a local joint same thing is 200 peso $10… So much for hi fi Hyatt. Never again. x Expat.

We would have liked more food place to choose from and not so pricey. The room was nice. The swimming pool were average. The beach was pretty small.

The room and service overall very good. The hotel feels a little outdated but good for the price. Location is fantastic. Within walking distance to everything in Playa.

Stay away from this hotel! We booked two connected rooms through Expedia 6 months in advance specifically for our family. When we arrived, the hotel gave us two separate rooms that were NOT connected and refused to honor our original reservation. Instead of fixing the issue, the staff blamed Expedia, saying “Expedia doesn’t know the hotel”, which is absolutely unprofessional. After complaining to the concierge, we were told that we could only get connected rooms if we paid an additional fee—even though we had booked and paid for them months ago. This felt like a scam and an upsell tactic. The entire experience was extremely disappointing—poor customer service, lack of accountability, and zero willingness to make things right. We will never stay here again and strongly recommend others to avoid this hotel.
