Me and my husband stayed in the Master Suite Ocean Front. There's only one room like this in the resort. With taxes and fees, it goes for about 4k per night. A little bit about us - we are luxury travelers who have traveled across the world. We rarely write reviews because mostly when we have an issue with a resort, it's taken care of at the resort while we are there. So it does pain me to write this review, especially because we were hoping La Casa De La Playa would become our go-to all inclusive. But sadly our experience toggled between extraordinary and extraordinarily frustrating. First the good - the room is spectacular. It is probably the best room we have stayed in outside the overwater bungalows in Maldives and Bora Bora. The views are breathtaking, the private pool is warm, cozy, and the decor is really cool. The food is delicious, by far the best we have had in any all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean and/or Mexico. Each restaurant in the resort is amazing (you don't need really need to go to the restaurants at the other resorts (except Ha and Xaak). Cocktails were also well-made, balanced with flavor (not sugary). Selection of tequila and mezcal is wonderful and appropriately high end. Our butler Alberto was really great and the staff at the restaurants and bars were friendly and efficient. Both the pools in the resort have remarkable views. The architecture of the resort is truly one of a kind. Now for the bad, or should I say confounding - you have to make reservations for restaurants and this supposedly special cenote dinner, but it took someone weeks to get back to us via email so we could make the reservations. It was quite unnerving to not hear from anyone after dropping a lot of money on a resort. Once we heard from someone, we were told many of the things listed as activities (like wine and tequila tasting) were actually extra. Once we got to the resort, this lack of information continued. There's no central booklet that includes information about all the restaurants, timings, and special menus. Upon arriving, we were greeted with paperwork outlining all kinds of steep cancelation fees, for missing dinners. This peeved us right away. How are you offering rest and relaxation without providing any flexibility. For our very first dinner, we showed up to Xaak and were told we needed to pay extra per person for premium wine pairing. Ok, no big deal, but would be great to get this info beforehand, not in the middle of my meal. But also - why not just include it at this price point for the room? And by the way - the quality of the house wine at the resort is sub-par for the price. Our cenote dinner was cancelled because of weather, and instead, we were given the option to sit with strangers in the wine cellar. I declined that but was told there weren't any dinner reservations available. We were sent to dinner at a sub standard restaurant that offered no comparable tasting menu. The server got us excited about making things right with the catch of the day, a nice lobster tail only to be told again that it is part of premium menu and would be extra. We returned to find even the restaurant on site was doing some grill menu and not their regular menu - again something we are not told until the moment we get there. Our substitute butler also communicated poorly with us about which mezcals were included and which were not, which ruined our night cap. At every moment, there were hidden upcharges. I emailed the resort much of what I have posted above, and the manager came and offered us a free massage and honestly, we were ready to leave our complaints behind, and then it happened again. The next night, at Ha, even after checking with the butler about the wine pairing who assured us it was included, we were only told at the restaurant it would be extra. On our ride back to the airport, me and my husband reflected back on the trip and realized, no one bothered to come to us at the end of the trip and check in if everything had gone well. No one reached out after we left either. There were so many gestures that could have been made that would have made us come back. We even thought of celebrating our 15 year anniversary there by bringing our friends. Sadly, to save some hundreds of dollars, this company has given up lots of future business. I don't think they understand the true meaning of luxury.

We travel frequently and have been to over 50 countries and have been to Mexico over 70 times. We were absolutely blown away by La Casa de la Playa. We love to explore but we found ourselves lounging on our balcony and in our private pool, relaxing to the sound of the waves. The jazz dinner at the cenote is not to be missed, and the wait staff there is exceptional, especially Arley. From the front desk, our butlers, transportation to waitstaff at all the restaurants, everything was nothing but spectacular. We both agreed this is our favorite resort of anywhere we have stayed. Xal and the Sunday brunch are not to be missed. As someone with Alpha gal, they didn’t hesitate to adjust the pre fix menus to my dietary restrictions. We can’t wait to come back here again in a few months!

Absolutely the best all inclusive experience I’ve ever had. Best staff, best food, best rooms. From start to finish, amazing!! Truly relaxing. Can’t wait to go back.

We came to this hotel to unplug and relax. It’s a beautiful resort not a lot of people which is nice and quiet. From the first minute we arrived the butler they assigned to us said anything we asked is not possible. My grandfather died and we have to leave early. We called American Express to be able to get a refund for the remaining nights we won’t be staying. We presented his death certificate and the hotel refused to refund the rest of our stay. They want to give us a free night with stipulations. not during high season even though we paid high season prices presidents week. This was unacceptable. The American Express agent said she never heard of a hotel not willing to give back the money when a family member dies and the death certificate is presented as proof. While the esthetics of the hotel is beautiful this hotel needs to get some training on accommodating their guests with a little more compassion. The first word out of the staffs mouth should not be no!! Especially when paying the high prices we did!!

Stay: February 2–9, 2026 Room: Beachfront Room 1202 We tend to leave detailed reviews because we rely heavily on them when planning our own travel, especially when choosing higher-end resorts. Casa de la Playa ended up being one of the most memorable and well-rounded vacations we’ve had, combining luxury, adventure, exceptional food, and genuinely attentive service. This was our first trip where we decided to simply “go play,” and Casa de la Playa made that easy from beginning to end. Arrival & Transportation The resort is about an hour from the airport, but the VIP transportation experience made it feel much shorter. We were picked up in a Tesla with private chauffeur service, and our driver, Jesus, immediately set a warm and welcoming tone for the trip. One detail that stood out was the strong focus on safety. Drivers complete breathalyzer checks before their shifts and everything feels well monitored. It created an immediate sense of comfort and trust, which carried through the entire stay. Accommodations We did experience a small hiccup at check-in where our room class was not initially correct, but the resort worked quickly with our travel agent to make it right. We were placed in beachfront Room 1202, which turned out to be the perfect location — close to the lobby, main pool, and main restaurant while still feeling private. The room itself was beautiful and thoughtfully designed: Private plunge pool and outdoor seating area Stone bathtub beside the pool Direct access to the beach Spacious layout with king bed Signature jellyfish tank Indoor/outdoor flow with beautiful showers One unique feature we had never seen before was the private room service cupboard, allowing food to be delivered and dishes collected without staff entering the room. A small detail, but one that really elevated the experience. The private pool temperature was cooler than expected initially due to cooler weather during our arrival, but it improved as temperatures warmed. Food & Dining Experiences Dining at Casa de la Playa is an experience rather than just a meal. Most dinners ranged from 5 to 11 courses, each thoughtfully presented and rooted in culture and flavour. Our first evening at XAL introduced us to this concept with an 11-course dinner. It was beautifully executed and set the tone for the rest of the week, although pacing yourself is important because it is a lot of food and wine. Breakfast at Tuch de Luna overlooking the ocean became a daily highlight, and room service was equally enjoyable thanks to the privacy of the service cupboard. The exclusive dining experiences available to Casa de la Playa guests were exceptional: A romantic cenote dinner A Mayan village dinner with a private cultural performance A backstage dining experience offering a behind-the-scenes look before the show Being able to revisit these locations during the day at Xcaret Park added another layer to the experience and made it feel even more meaningful. Parks & Adventures (Xplor & Xcaret) Access to the parks is one of the biggest advantages of staying within the Xcaret properties, and it did not disappoint. At Xplor Park we: Drove amphibian vehicles through rugged terrain Completed the 11 zip lines (incredibly fun) Swam in cenotes Returning to the parks during the day after experiencing them at night gave us a completely different appreciation of the environment and surroundings. It added adventure and energy to what could otherwise have been a purely relaxing vacation. VIP Services & Transportation One of the most impressive aspects of Casa de la Playa was the VIP transportation and service model. Through a private WhatsApp chat with our butler, transportation could be arranged at any time. Private drivers were available for dinners, park visits, or even quick trips to pick up souvenirs. Drivers would wait and return us to the resort, making everything feel effortless and extremely safe. This level of service significantly elevated the overall experience. Butlers & Service Team Service throughout the resort was exceptional, and several team members deserve special recognition. Neftalí helped resolve our initial room issue and ensured everything was corrected quickly. Gabriela was outstanding — attentive, caring, and consistently checking in to make sure everything was perfect. She truly went above and beyond. Francisco assisted on our final days. We also want to recognize members of the pool and bar service team: Miguel, who acted as a guest experience ambassador at the main pool and rooftop bar, stood out for his attentiveness and genuine connection with guests. We truly enjoyed meeting him and talking to him daily. Angelina, who frequently served us, was warm and welcoming. Felipe was attentive and mastered my Bob Marley drink exactly the way I liked it. These personal interactions made daily moments feel relaxed and special. Super Bowl Sunday Experience Our last evening coincided with the Super Bowl, and the resort created a fantastic rooftop viewing experience. A large screen was set up at the rooftop pool bar with the ocean in the background, and multiple courses of themed food were served throughout the evening. It was a fun and memorable way to end the trip. Value for Money Casa de la Playa is a higher-end resort, and we felt the value matched the experience. We chose this property specifically for the level of service, privacy, dining experiences, and VIP access, and it delivered exactly what we were looking for. For travellers seeking a luxury, experience-driven stay rather than a traditional all-inclusive, the value was absolutely there. Noise Level Noise was never an issue during our stay. Casa de la Playa is an adults-only, private section of the Xcaret properties, and the atmosphere remained calm, quiet, and relaxing throughout the week. It felt peaceful without ever feeling isolated. Overall Experience Casa de la Playa delivered one of the best vacation experiences we’ve had. The staff were genuinely attentive, the food outstanding, and the ability to combine luxury, culture, and adventure made it feel very different from a traditional all-inclusive resort. For travellers who enjoy higher-end resorts, VIP service, and curated experiences, this is absolutely a property worth experiencing. Helpful Tips for Future Guests Book exclusive dining experiences early in your stay. Pace yourself with multi-course dinners and wine pairings. Take advantage of the private driver service — it’s a major benefit. Visit parks both during the day and at night if possible. Communicate openly with your butler — the team genuinely wants to make your stay exceptional. Slow down and enjoy the small details; many of the best moments come from them.
