Reviews for Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya

Quiet Luxury

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

Throughout our 4-day stay, Maroma reminded me of the resort featured in White Lotus Season 3 – a mix of tropical jungle, beach and exceptional service. It’s not possible to find fault with our stay. Everything was perfect. PRE-ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN: About a month prior to our arrival, I received an email from Stephany, an experience curator, requesting our preferences ranging from pillow choices to timing of morning coffee service. I completed the form; albeit with some skepticism about whether the requests would be fulfilled. To the resort’s credit, every detail was delivered as requested. Stephany was responsive to my emails and provided good restaurant recommendations off-property based on our interests. Arriving at Maroma is like being welcomed into a private residence. The airport transfer included complimentary Veuve Cliquot Champagne and snacks for the 30-minute drive from Cancun airport to Maroma. The resort has no check-in area/lobby. You are greeted with a delicious Maroma margarita and a Mayan cleansing ritual. Check-in occurs in the comfort of your room. SERVICE: All members of staff we encountered were eager to exceed expectations. From the drivers (Adelo and Luis), to the spa attendant (Elena), pool and beach staff (Luis, Sergio and Cesar), bellman (JJ), the hosts and servers at Casa Mayor -- they were outstanding. Credit to management for fostering a team to deliver this level of service. We were assigned two dedicated hosts during our stay (Jean-Luc and Fernanda) who were our points of contact. Without being intrusive, they proactively checked in with us. Responses to WhatsApp messages were prompt. ROOMS: We had a junior suite with an ocean view. The adult pool was at our doorstep and the beach just a few steps further. The property is a showcase for sustainability with the décor honoring regional materials and craftsmanship with beautiful tiles, marbles, pillows and rugs. Thumbs up for the excellent air conditioning and water pressure. There was a full-sized bar in the suite with complimentary coffee, water, and soft drinks. Housekeeping was thorough twice a day. Complimentary pressing of two items a day is offered. PROPERTY: The property’s design is a blend of Mayan heritage and contemporary elegance. It’s all curves in keeping with Mayan culture and transitions dissolve walls between indoor and outdoor spaces. The grounds are lush (>200 acres) - you walk around listening to the ocean waves and birdsong. I loved it! GYM AND SPA: Gym is well-equipped with Techno-gym equipment, free weights, and cable machines. I had the gym to myself every day. Spa is a Guerlain spa and includes a sauna, cold plunge and hydrotherapy. Loved my spa service with Elena! ACTIVITIES: There are a number of daily complimentary activities including water sports. We did the jungle bike tour and a yoga session with Adriana. The hotel also offers a number of experiences, some of which may be included depending on the room category. POOLS AND BEACH: There are three pools, including one adult-only. Service at the pool and beach was attentive with refreshments and small bites offered regularly throughout the day. While seaweed has been affecting much of Rivieria Maya, the crew worked diligently to keep the beachfront clear at Maroma. It did not detract from our enjoyment of the beach. RESTAURANTS: There are two restaurants, Casa Mayor and Woodend. Breakfast was good especially the fresh quesadillas from Tia Mari. We dined off-property in the evenings.

Check the Seaweed Map

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Please check the seaweed map if you are traveling between April - November. The beach is awful between the brown muddy waters, the Smell of rotten eggs from the seaweed, and the constant noise of the tractors and dozers clearing all the piles of mess. If you do decide to come during this time period, please do not stay beach front. We were awakened each morning by 7 am to the constant loud beeping of the dozers backing up. The service on the other hand is truly amazing and they have done a remarkable job on the recent renovation.

Fabulous stay with family and friends

We had a wonderful stay at Belmond Maroma. Our group of family and friends enjoyed all aspects of this resort -- the delicious food, outstanding service, comfortable and well appointed rooms, spa treatments, gym and activities including Loteria (so much fun) and snorkeling. The food and services levels were excellent. (Can't say enough good things about it.) Two outstanding dining experiences were dinner at Woodend and a private beach dinner. This resort is very special, and I would highly recommend it.

Maroma is fantastic all around. I cannot imagine a better experience in Riveria Maya. World class accommodations, a thoughtful sense of place, and absolutely delicious food with unique flavors. Service is great, super friendly and unassuming, everyone seems so genuinely happy and the vibe of the whole place is perfect. You don't want to miss this place.

Blown Away by My First Cancun Luxury Adventure!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I travel quite a bit, but this was my first time experiencing Mexico—and especially my first taste of ultra-luxury. To say my expectations were surpassed is a massive understatement. From minute one, Sabrina and Francine took exceptional care of us. These ladies aren’t just great at their job—they genuinely seemed invested in making sure we had the best trip possible: Check-in, excursions, room service, everything. I asked about buying the hats and sleep poncho from our room, and next thing I knew, they showed up as gifts. Talk about unexpected generosity! And when my roommate Jorge realized he’d forgotten his pants (classic!), Sabrina and Francine didn’t miss a beat—they arranged to ship them back to Mexico City for us. Seriously impressive. If you love snorkeling, don't miss the boat trip. Crystal-clear water, excellent guides, and it felt meaningful to see the coral restoration happening up close. The hotel nailed the small details that made a huge difference. Personalized notes in English for me and Spanish for Jorge, baseball caps embroidered with our initials—thoughtful touches that turn a good trip into an unforgettable one. Stephan (the General Manager) and his entire team deserve huge credit. This isn’t just a 5-star experience; it’s a 10-star memory. I'm already thinking about coming back—and next time, I'll double-check that Jorge packs everything!
