Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya

I got food poisoning from a drink at one of the bars (no I did not consume any of the tap water while in Mexico) and the amount of seaweed made the beach very undesirable and made the ocean unattractive to get in.

My wife and I spent four unforgettable nights at Belmond Maroma, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and truly irreproachable. We were upgraded to a spacious suite that made our stay even more special, and the team went above and beyond to celebrate my birthday with thoughtful surprises that made me feel genuinely cared for. The food was another highlight—fresh, vibrant, and deeply rooted in local flavors. Every meal felt like a celebration of the region, beautifully prepared and full of authenticity. What stood out most was the way the staff made us feel—not just like guests, but like family. Every detail was handled with care, every interaction filled with warmth. Belmond Maroma exceeded our expectations in every way. We left feeling grateful, spoiled, and already counting the days until we can return. We can’t wait to come back.

Secrets Maroma is a beautiful resort. The musicians there are phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the pianist and the violinists. The spa is great. The rooms are very clean. The beds are very comfortable. And Oscar from entertainment staff has THE best dance moves and games. We had so much fun.

Belmond Maroma is a gem. The resort is stunning, the service warm and personal, and the food excellent. We stayed in a two bedroom plunge suite with plenty of space for our family of four. Breakfast was included and outstanding, with fresh coffee delivered outside our room each morning. We enjoyed Freddy’s menu a few times and loved sitting under the stars at Casa Mayer. There is a secret hideaway/lookout on top of the building that is worth finding your way up to to look at the stars. The staff went above and beyond for our son’s 9th birthday with balloons, cake, and milkshakes, and also made our day trip to Xcaret seamless. Airport pickup and drop off with their in-house transport was flawless, safe, easy, and reliable. This is a true boutique property where the team gets to know you. It is small, intimate, and easy to navigate, honestly Four Seasons+++. The connection to nature is so fun from the native plantings to the melipona bees.... and they called us over from dinners as the sea turtles were hatching.
