About the Hotel

Immerse yourself in nature, art and design at this ultimate seaside escape. Just a 90-minute drive from San Jose International Airport, between the towns of Jaco Beach and Quepos, you will discover Alma del Pacifico Hotel, hiding in the rainforest next to one of the country’s quietest, prettiest beaches, Playa Esterillos Este. Here you will enjoy glistening ocean waves, steep verdant cliffs and walking paths that wind through colorful ornamental, herb and vegetable gardens to your oasis bungalow. The highlight of each bungalow is the mosaic-tiled shower that opens into a private tropical garden, perfect for spotting an endangered scarlet macaw spreading its wings over the treetops.

Great experience, wonderful hotel and staff!

Nestled along the pristine shores of Playa Esterillos Este on Costa Rica’s breathtaking Pacific Coast, Alma del Pacifico Beach Hotel & Spa offers an idyllic escape between the vibrant surf town of Jacó and the lush rainforests of Manuel Antonio. This luxurious beachfront retreat features elegantly designed Caribbean-style rooms and suites, each adorned with vibrant local art and offering stunning ocean views. We stayed in one of the beachfront villas with hot tub and we were lucky enough to witness a two-toed sloth coming down from his tree right outside our patio! The food in Costa Rica is delicious and this resort serves gourmet cuisine at the on-site restaurant, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We had the continental plan so breakfast was included but the food was so good we also had a few meals (steak and taco soup were both delicious I did not take advantage of the on-site spa but it offers a wide range of rejuvenating treatments inspired by Costa Rican traditions. Whether you're seeking adventure or tranquility, Alma del Pacifico caters to every traveler with a variety of exciting activities—from surfing and horseback riding to nature tours and yoga on the beach. With its distinctive architecture, rich artistic ambiance, and exceptional personalized service, Alma del Pacifico really stands out and would recommend this place to all my friends and family. Beautifully designed hotel, it’s close to Parrita where you can explore local restaurants (Sharky’s for a quick bite, chicken tenders are a must try and La Trattoria Italiana for the best ceviche evaaaaaah) get some groceries and Chili-Guaro (a popular Costa Rican drink). It’s the perfect choice for discerning travelers who wish to explore the wonders of Manuel Antonio while enjoying the serenity and direct beach access that only Esterillos Este can offer.

Amazing small non-touristy beach front hotel. A real Find!

Small beach front hotel in a very non-touristy area between Quepos and Jako in Punterenas, Costa Rica. 2 hour drive from San Jose. A number of rooms are right on the beach - we walked out our patio door, onto a small patch of grass, and then the sandy beach to the ocean. Wild life included flocks of McCaws Beautiful. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Restaurant on site. Miles and miles of beach to walk down, also included a lovely swimming pool and area.

Another great stay at Alma

Can't say enough great things about this hotel. The villas, the pools, the restaurant (breakfast is included), the spa (husband had a massage that was exceptional), the beachfront location, the staff and service - all amazing. We stayed 5 nights in a garden bungalow with king bed, located behind the pool area and furthest from the beach, but so private and the beach is still only steps away. The parking lot is staffed 24/7 with a guard who will check you in, and then open the gate as you leave/enter. The beach has miles of beautiful carpet-like sand and is not terribly busy. We felt very safe to leave our backpack on a lounge chair - with phones, watch, sunglasses etc. - while we went in the ocean or walked along the beach. The air conditioned villas are huge. Bed, side tables, long desk area, sofa, kitchen sink, water filter, bar fridge, glasses, mugs and cutlery, w/c, wardrobe, safe, sink and large vanity, indoor and outdoor showers accessed by a sliding door between the two. The restaurant serves a full complimentary breakfast as well as self serve fruit, yogurt, toast and jam. Nice selections for dinner and drinks (happy hour 4-6pm). Service was friendly and accommodating throughout. Pools are clean and refreshing - lots of chairs, loungers and tables with umbrellas.

Not for the food…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

We are local went for lunch…. Never ate. Asked for a Coke, never got it. Ordered calamari they came cold, twice. We didn’t eat them and couldn’t ever get anyone to bring that Coke or take a Lunch order. We paid for a water and left. Food is too expensive today to waste time with servers and cooks who simply don’t care. We won’t go back. So glad we didn’t stay there.
