Immerse yourself in nature, art and design at this ultimate seaside escape. Just a 90-minute drive from San Jose International Airport, between the towns of Jaco Beach and Quepos, you will discover Alma del Pacifico Hotel, hiding in the rainforest next to one of the country’s quietest, prettiest beaches, Playa Esterillos Este. Here you will enjoy glistening ocean waves, steep verdant cliffs and walking paths that wind through colorful ornamental, herb and vegetable gardens to your oasis bungalow. The highlight of each bungalow is the mosaic-tiled shower that opens into a private tropical garden, perfect for spotting an endangered scarlet macaw spreading its wings over the treetops.

Beautiful location and gardens right on the beach, peaceful and remote (one good local restaurant next door but nothing else walkable). We really enjoyed our stay overall but did find the service was really rather rude in the restaurant. Two members of staff in particular. The breakfast was really good , lots of choice and good portions. ...but the dinner menu was expensive (20 dollars for houmous ! Might aswell have steak for 27 dollars). and the food only alright - not amazing. Restaurant was mostly empty therefore. No atmosphere in the evenings. Cocktails at happy hour 4-6pm were delicious and good value and there were good tunes and beautiful sunsets and everyone came out so there was good atmosphere. The rooms were big and beautiful, but in need of a refurb n a few places. Locks and tv and a/c all on last legs. But bedding , towels and bathrooms all lovely. Some Pool furniture broken and old. Some Tiles missing in pool. But still a lovely place to stay if you are in this area - the design is great - just feels like time for a brush up here and there!

We have stayed at the hotel several times and enjoy it very much. Unfortunately, for our upcoming trip in February, I have emailed the hotel several times to confirm the not insubstantial deposits but have not received a response. I called several months ago and the clerk indicated that only the manager could respond. Needless to say, I have never heard from the manager. Perhaps the hotel will see this message and respond.

Wonderful colourful. Wonderful beautiful. See for yourselves: here are our over two dozen new 360-degree photos. Some might call it "brightly colorful," others perhaps "Central American vibrant," we say "wonderfully retro." Even though it's reminiscent of an 80s disco, you can tell it's only about 20 years old. It's also incredibly well-maintained, with perfect paintwork. Everything else is great too. Very spacious rooms (unfortunately, we accidentally booked two queen beds instead of one king). Our bungalow was right on the beach, with a lovely garden in front of the terrace. The sound of the ocean was constant. The bathroom with its shower (and double vanity) is the highlight. There's a separate drinking water tap. Coffee and tea are provided. The service was very friendly, both on days when we were practically the only guests and on other days. Breakfast is served à la carte, with a selection of about 10 options. Delicious and plentiful. (But be aware, additional items are available for an extra charge). The à la carte dinner is also very well done (and not more expensive than usual for the region). Yes, it's not a tourist center, a rather sleepy little town, but that's exactly what we were looking for: peace and quiet on the miles-long beach. Plus, it's only an hour's drive to Manuel Antonio.

Amazing stay at Alma del pacifico hotel. Beach front bungalows are great, Staff is very nice and the beach in front of the hotel is just incredible. It was the perfect stay to end our trip in Costa Rica. Hope to be able to come back.

Overall we had a good experience at Alma Del Pacifico. It was nice to actually have a room that can fit 5 people. The pool and ocean access was perfect. They provide towels. The staff is very friendly. The two things we didn't like were the prices for lunch and dinner, and the "Kitchenette' has no plates or anything to eat on. So if you're doing your own food, you need to bring some with you. We would definitely stay here again.
