ATELIER Playa Mujeres

Buckle up because here comes a deep dive into my stay at Atelier Playa Mujeres! Overall it is very clear that the staff want to ensure from the moment you step on the property, that this is truly a luxury experience. My stay was for myself and a friend in the “Inspira Suites” for three nights. Let’s start off with the “good/meets expectations”. Atelier will comp transfers to and from the airport with a minimum stay- my stay fell below the minimum so it would’ve come at an extra cost. Nice to offer, but there are other options that are cheaper. I would also put the steakhouse in this category- definitely a good meal but it’s not anything to write home about. Finally, the beach access is as expected. The cabanas and chairs are often reserved early by guests- so definitely recommend beating the rush to get the space you want. Otherwise it is private access and had a swim area marked and monitored by a lifeguard. Supposedly there is a section for Inspira Suites guests, but I didn’t see that being enforced. Moving on to the “great” category, starting with the options for dining. Every restaurant we stayed at had vegan/vegetarian options. What’s more, every restaurant had some kind of non-alcoholic specialty drink. The variety of dining kept us from being bored with meal options! The best meals we had were at the Mediterranean restaurants- specially the shrimp dishes. The coffee served in all locations was spectacular. As an avid coffee drinker I was impressed! Finally, the cleanliness of the overall facility exceeded similar places I’ve stayed. The floors are clean, a pleasant smell lingers through common areas, and frequently staff are ensuring sand and dirt are clear from the common areas. Finally, the “exceeds expectations” category. As stated previously, we elected a swim out Inspira Suite. This came with personal butler service. Our particular butlers (shout out to Oswaldo and Luis!!) found every chance to make our stay exceptional. They reached out BEFORE we even arrived to ensure our room was stocked exactly as needed, but the best part was how personalized they made our stay when we came back to our rooms decorated for our birthday! Housekeeping was amazing with their timing to come by during dinner, and kept the room clean and tidy without feeling invasive. Finally, the activities staff lead some great activities- highly recommend the guac class, bike tour, and zoomba. The activities team (Ethan, Ernesto, Johnathan, Andrea, and Ramon) brought such great energy and excitement to each event. If I had to offer one critique (and this feels picky to even note), I would say that there is an assumption that guests are familiar with the “norms” of all-inclusive resorts. For example, checking in was a tad confusing because we arrived with several other guests and had to wait. While waiting we weren’t sure if we could go by the bar and ask for a drink, water or snacks (we were brought a glass of champagne!). In addition, it wasn’t clear when dining if we just “walked out” when you’re done (you do) versus waiting to sign a receipt. Finally, it wasn’t clear what the expectation was for gratuity. I still am not clear if it was included in the room rate. We chose to offer gratuity to the butlers, house keeping, and small tips to bartenders and food staff, but I didn’t notice other guests doing the same. Overall Atelier is a great example of “you get what you pay for”. While a pricier option in the region, you get service to match. Great option for folks looking for a getaway from the real world.

We had an amazing honeymoon at Atlelier Playa Mujeres. Our butlers, Cesar and Carolina, were wonderful and made sure everything during our stay was absolutely perfect. When my husband was sick and had to visit the hospital, they both assisted and checked in on him regularly. When we returned later in the evening from the hospital, Carolina had a hot bath ready in our room which was a wonderful surprise and allowed my husband to relax and recover. She also ordered us room service right away since we had to miss our dinner reservations and were quite hungry upon our return. The extra effort made to make that day better was much appreciated. We have only positive things to say about both Cesar and Carolina as well as all the hotel staff at the resort. Everyone was wonderful. We can’t wait to return.

Truly felt spoiled on my honeymoon trip here with my wife. I can't think about planning a trip anywhere else in the future! There are so many different things to do and enjoy here, but the facilities are so excellent that it felt like a treat even when we just wanted to relax in our suite. Opting for the Inspira experience is truly worth it to be able to enjoy more of what this resort and the incredible staff have to offer. You can tell the staff of butlers, along with everyone else on the hospitality team, are given the latitude to provide really great service tailored to each guest. Lazaro & Alberto were incredibly helpful and responsive. There was something special or a pleasant surprise each day of our stay because they really do make sure you have a memorable and pleasant experience. The dining options are also wild. We loved every meal we had here. Between the two of us, we had a pescatarian and an everything-tarian, so we had a wealth of options at every single restaurant — but from the service I experienced and the variety of every menu I scanned, I'm sure people with all sorts of dietary restrictions / allergies are still spoiled for choice and can have great meals here. We did (of course) have an incredible meal at the Michelin recommended Maria Dolores at the resort — that was of course to be expected, though they still managed to exceed our expectations! But even more notable is how great the food and service were at every other restaurant we went to as well. We had an exceptionally notable experience during breakfast(!) at Suspira one morning. Shoutout to the breakfast team there for giving us such a lovely start to the day we chose Suspira for breakfast! Thank you Ianis, Wendy, Francisco, Herberth, Humberto, and Armando! And thank you to Javier at Cilento for good laughs and a great table-side cheesy pasta dinner one night :) We also enjoyed our hydrotherapy experience at the NUUP spa. We recently stayed at the hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The resort is beautiful, well maintained and situated in a gated area around 45 mins from the airport. We enquired with concierge about an excursion but found the prices to be quite a lot compared to Viator etc (though there are limited third party options that pick up directly from the hotel). As a coeliac, a lot of research had gone into the dining options for the stay and we were surprised at just how good they were. All the restaurants were able to offer appetisers, mains and gluten free breads. It was a real treat to actually have a choice of meals rather than have to default to one gluten free option. The food is prepared in a separate kitchen, with a separate fryer, so there are no concerns around cross contamination. Always ask if there is something you fancy which is not labelled GF as a couple of the menus did lack a couple of labels. The one slight disappointment was that the icecream was ‘may contain’ gluten and mango sorbet was often the only GF dessert options in the majority of the restaurants. We visited the Michelin accredited restaurant during our stay, which again catered extremely well for my dietary requirements and was a lovely setting. Make sure to check out the bistro cheese and wine cart! We visited a couple of times and GF bread was provided - it’s a great appetiser before dinner. Also check out the terrace bar at sunset for a cocktail with beautiful views over the ocean. We would thoroughly recommend staying at the hotel if you are looking for good food, cocktails and a relaxing break.

Returning to Atelier Playa Mujeres for our second stay felt like coming back to a place we truly love, and once again, it exceeded all of our expectations. What makes this resort so special is the people. Every member of staff we encountered was genuinely welcoming, kind, and attentive. Their warmth and dedication created an atmosphere that made us feel valued and cared for throughout our entire stay. The food and drinks were outstanding from start to finish. Every meal was beautifully prepared, and the quality and variety across the resort were exceptional. Whether enjoying a relaxed lunch by the pool, a special dinner in the evening, or cocktails throughout the day, everything was consistently excellent. The pool and beach teams deserve special recognition for their incredible service. They worked tirelessly to ensure guests were comfortable and having a wonderful time, always with a smile and a friendly conversation. Their attention and care made our days by the water even more enjoyable and relaxing. We also loved taking part in the activities offered by the entertainment team. The Paint & Wine experience was so much fun, and there are so many different activities on offer, something to suit everyone’s taste, and give you an opportunity to try different things. These activities added another dimension to our holiday experience, which was new from our previous visit in 2024. A very special thank you to Daniel at the INSPIRA Rooftop Bar. Daniel’s friendly personality, genuine hospitality, and exceptional service made every visit a highlight of our trip. He always made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Daniel’s cocktails are amazing! We would also like to thank Heubert at El Suspiro for his outstanding service. His warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made every meal a pleasure, and his kindness did not go unnoticed. After two wonderful stays, it’s clear why Atelier Playa Mujeres remains one of our favorite places to stay in Mexico. The combination of exceptional staff, amazing food and drinks, beautiful surroundings, and memorable experiences are what we love so much.
