Hunter's Country House

This place is the best heritage resort ever! Spent 6 nights and had an amazing time in the resort and also exploring the garden route activities from this location is perfect. The staff are next level at this country house well done for making our stay comfortable and memorable

What a beautiful place! And the most wonderful staff. I’d organised a birthday lunch for my parents and the staff had baked a cake ahead of the day for my Father and came out singing and celebrating. Service and food was wonderful in just the most gorgeous setting.

The most wonderful setting. The staff really make everything so easy. The rooms were amazing and very well equipped with everything we needed. The grounds are maintained to an excellent standard. We often saw a little Bushbuck standing on the lawns or looking out from behind a scrub. The food choices with the three restaurants to choose from was amazing. The breakfast and the breakfast setting was just beautiful. It was all we could have imagined and more.

Incredible rooms just outside plett. We were lucky to get an upgrade to an incredible lodge. Plett is a really wonderful seaside town with good shops and restaurants. We went on a superb whale safari. Unforgettable. The three restaurants were all excellent at the lodge. A special shout out for the tree tops one. Travis was a superb host.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hunter’s Country House, just 8km before Plettenberg Bay from Cape Town’s side. I can’t believe I didn’t know about this hidden treasure, nestled in the forest. It felt completely private and serene. From the moment we arrived, the team went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We attended a morning wedding in their enchanting forest chapel, an incredibly special and atmospheric venue that felt like something out of a fairytale. The celebration continued at Zinzi Restaurant, the on-site restaurant, where we were treated to an unforgettable dining experience. Every dish was a delight! Knowing the wedding started at 11 am, they thoughtfully allowed us to check in early, drop our luggage, and freshen up. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and already warm and inviting, a special comfort on a chilly day. The bathroom was a standout, both luxurious and cosy, complete with robes, perfect for the chilly season. After the wedding, we returned to our cosy cottage and made a crackling fire in the in-room fireplace. It was so peaceful and comfortable in the cottage that we decided to skip dining out and ordered room service instead. Morning brought yet another highlight, a full English breakfast buffet, complete with hot options, and even a refreshing health smoothie. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We stayed in The Country House - Garden Suite (Cottage 12), as shown on the map attached. I’ll return, and next time, I hope to stay at the Tsala Treetop Lodge next door for another kind of magical forest experience!
