Hunter's Country House

The most wonderful setting. The staff really make everything so easy. The rooms were amazing and very well equipped with everything we needed. The grounds are maintained to an excellent standard. We often saw a little Bushbuck standing on the lawns or looking out from behind a scrub. The food choices with the three restaurants to choose from was amazing. The breakfast and the breakfast setting was just beautiful. It was all we could have imagined and more.

Incredible rooms just outside plett. We were lucky to get an upgrade to an incredible lodge. Plett is a really wonderful seaside town with good shops and restaurants. We went on a superb whale safari. Unforgettable. The three restaurants were all excellent at the lodge. A special shout out for the tree tops one. Travis was a superb host.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hunter’s Country House, just 8km before Plettenberg Bay from Cape Town’s side. I can’t believe I didn’t know about this hidden treasure, nestled in the forest. It felt completely private and serene. From the moment we arrived, the team went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We attended a morning wedding in their enchanting forest chapel, an incredibly special and atmospheric venue that felt like something out of a fairytale. The celebration continued at Zinzi Restaurant, the on-site restaurant, where we were treated to an unforgettable dining experience. Every dish was a delight! Knowing the wedding started at 11 am, they thoughtfully allowed us to check in early, drop our luggage, and freshen up. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and already warm and inviting, a special comfort on a chilly day. The bathroom was a standout, both luxurious and cosy, complete with robes, perfect for the chilly season. After the wedding, we returned to our cosy cottage and made a crackling fire in the in-room fireplace. It was so peaceful and comfortable in the cottage that we decided to skip dining out and ordered room service instead. Morning brought yet another highlight, a full English breakfast buffet, complete with hot options, and even a refreshing health smoothie. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We stayed in The Country House - Garden Suite (Cottage 12), as shown on the map attached. I’ll return, and next time, I hope to stay at the Tsala Treetop Lodge next door for another kind of magical forest experience! Thank you to the incredible staff, especially Travis, for making our stay so seamless, special, and truly memorable.

We’ve traveled the globe and stayed at some of the world’s best resorts. We have to say: this is one of the finest resorts we’ve ever stayed at. Period. The grounds were pristine, the room was stellar. The service, impeccable. We were only but a few visitors to the resort during the stay (low season), but were given the absolute royal treatment throughout. Patrick was the consummate host and the staff accommodated every request with aplomb. Hats off to the owners, staff and support personnel who make this an unforgettable 5-star experience. Will definitely return!

Booked to stay here for 2 nights after reading the reviews and we are so glad we did. From the moment we checked in and being greeted in the lounge with a drink and then being escorted to our room was such a nice touch. The grounds are beautiful and we wished we could have just stayed here for the 2 days and relaxed but we had plans in Knysna and Plettenberg. We had dinner in Zinzi and thoroughly enjoyed it and the breakfast was very good. The best thing about Hunters is their staff though. I wish I had made a note of all the names but Golli who greeted us was so lovely as was Ace when we had drinks by the firepit. Our breakfast waitress was amazing too but I did not get her name. We will definitely be back as loved the place.
