Waves crash near the lanais of Koa Kea Hotel & Resort's oceanfront guestrooms, a collection of low-profile buildings that blend with the nature around them. Inside, fresh flowers accent simple, modern island décor and art prints of coral. Koa Kea means "white coral," a tribute to the life-giving power of the reefs. According to Hawaiian mythology, coral is the goddess granddaughter of the world’s creator. From November to May, Koa Kea’s slice of the Pacific hosts a migration of humpback whales, so keep an eye to the horizon.

Great resort with super friendly staff. Loved the intimate feel of the place. Room was very nice with comfortable bed and wonderful shower.

My wife and I have visited most of Hawaiian Islands except for Kauai. We did our research and spent four days in the Princeville area (north) and then four days at the Ko'a Kea in Poipu (south). We normally avoid large hotels with the accompanying sunburnt crowds, but heard good things about the Ko'a and booked our stay. Excellent location as one is able to walk directly onto the sand and into the water. Our room was clean and adequate with a partial ocean view that afforded views of the surf and passing Humpback whales. The grounds were expertly groomed and there was plenty of places to sit to enjoy the breeze and sunlight. The Red Salt Restaurant was excellent for all meals - great views and service. Although it is a moderate to large hotel (with another large hotel next to it), it never felt crowded or noisy. And I suspect it felt this way because of the excellent staff and service. The Ko'a staff simply gets it - service from the manager to the valet to the desk staff to the cleaning staff was some of the best that we have experienced in years. And that type of service separates the Ko'a from other hotels of similar size and location.

Lovely weekend getaway. From the beginning service was lovely, valet to check in to the rooms - everything was great service! Hotel was conveniently located and all the workers were extremely welcoming!

Weather was not ideal during our trip but the hotel was very accommodating and comfortable- excellent location- quieter and more peaceful than a big resort. Food was quite spendy both at hotel restaurant and poolside menu but gourmet.

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay on the island of Kauai! The Ko’a Kea resort was the perfect size with a lovely pool, relaxing, hot tub, and very nice room accommodations. The whole staff was very friendly and went above and beyond what we could have expected. This trip was celebrating my special 60th birthday, and we ended here after visiting Maui and Oahu.

The Koa Kea was top notch! We loved every minute. Beautiful landscaping, rooms nicely appointed and great quality sheets and towels and superb housekeeping. Red Salt restaurant was perfect and delicious. Breakfast, meals, and wait staff were wonderful, especially Raven - our waiter most days. Not one negative about this boutique hotel. Will return again.
