Beautiful hotel and wedding reception. However they overcharged wedding guests with supposedly “discounted” rooms, and sold rooms on booking.com for $50 cheaper/night.

My best friend got married at the Sentinel last weekend. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the reception was equally lovely. However, the room blocking and booking experience left a lot to be desired. The hotel uses a third-party reservation service, which made the process confusing. The representatives didn’t even know what was included in the blocked rooms. When I found the same room for half the price on Booking.com, I called to ask about price matching. I was told that the blocked rooms “lock in the cheapest rate at the time they’re reserved,” which apparently means the hotel can charge more than current rates if prices drop later. It felt like the room block was more beneficial to the hotel than the guests. Eventually, they found me a slightly cheaper room and assured me it was bigger than the blocked rooms, with access to a 24-hour lounge stocked with refreshments. While the lounge was a nice perk, the room was noticeably smaller than the blocked rooms. When I brought this up to the front desk, they told me to contact the third-party booking service — not exactly helpful. Also, valet parking is off-site, about six blocks away. If you’re using valet, make sure to call well in advance when you need your car.

Great hotel- somehow the whole lobby smells like this amazing cedar cologne… every time I walked in! The pillows here so soft, the staff was so kind.

Super friendly staff, valley was quick with car and friendly. Room clean, good amenities. Cute historical building that was just modernized enough to be up to date while maintaining original charm.

We visited The Sential for a wedding and while the hotel itself is amazing, what really shined were the staff. At every step of the way they showed the flexibility, courtesy, and professionalism that is rare to find. Not just one here and one there, but every staff member we encountered made our stay outstanding.
