Favorite Place to Stay in Portland

What I enjoy about "The Sentinel" is that it has it's own unique charm and character that many of the more modern hotels lack. It is also conveniently situated right in the heart of downtown and everything is within walking distance. This was my second time staying here (first time was back in 2017 and there was quite a lot of construction going on within earshot of the hotel) , however, this stay was exceptional and was one of the highlights of my trip. One of the benefits of going in the off-season is that it gives a better chance of obtaining a room upgrade and WOW did they ever deliver!!! I was bumped up to the 6th floor and into a "Bridgetown Parlor Suite". Absolutely blown away with the room and being on the 6th floor also gives you access to "The Room at The End of The Hall" which is a nice little place to hangout or more likey just go in and grab a snack, coffee, or a soda/water. The room itself offered a King bed (very comfotable) with fireplace as well as a separate living room with pull-out couch. Unfortunately, the windows didn't offer much on the view side and if there was one slight negative about the room is that you did get a lot of exterior noise coming in and even during the night. I was actually woken up a few times by loud voices from outside, cars, or the heavy thumping of the MAX Light Rail on the tracks. Having said that I am a bit of a light sleeper so others may not have the same issue ;). If you stay here I also recommend dining at Jake's Grill (had a very good dinner there) and for those who enjoy their wine, take some time out to taste some great Oregon pinot or chardonnay at Domaine Serene (attached to the hotel).

Had a wonderful time. Beautiful old hotel that gets first place for most awesome adaptation of a former Elks Temple! Truly gorgeous…

Amazing experience, the website does not give the place full justice. A classy place that is comfortable and exceptional staff.
