Reviews for Sentinel

Definitely would come back - perhaps sans auto

What I love: The room - mine has a fireplace. Although there's no view. It was in the corner top floor away from everyone else. You can still hear the transit train but it did not bother me. The location was perfect. I can walk to Powell books and to some boutiques that carry esoteric labels. Highly recommend Frances May What I tolerated: The valet parking was $65 a day AND the wait is long 20 mins - even if you give them notice, if there's no one there to give you your keys - you are stuck waiting

The place to stay in the heart of Portland!

In the heart of the vibrant Portland scene, Sentinel is a treasured historic hotel, with fabulous Jake’s restaurant on ground floor. Our room was perfect, so comfortable and beautifully appointed. It was the perfect home base from which to venture out and partake of the wonderful cultural attractions, all within walking distance. Special thanks to Dylan at reception for answering our many questions, guiding us and enhancing our visit to this lovely place.

Everything you want in a Portland hotel

Loved our stay at the Sentinel, I can't recommend it enough!! It's such a neat historic hotel with smart modern touches. The bed was comfy and it was surprisingly very quiet. There was a steamer, not just an iron, for your clothes. All the staff were friendly. Great location in the central city, it is a short walk to the Pearl, Powell's, Pioneer Square and more! There are two fabulous connected restaurants and a wine bar. If you stay in a suite on the 6th floor, be sure to check out the book room at the end of the hall!

Great Stay at the Sentinel Hotel in Downtown Portland

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

My stay at the Sentinel Hotel was overall a great experience. The bed was very comfortable, and even though we didn’t get a chance to use room service, I feel like it would’ve been amazing. Since it was our first time in Portland and we were coming from out of state, we spent most of our time exploring the city and the nearby amenities. The hotel itself has a really nice atmosphere the staff at check-in and check-out were friendly and welcoming. Dylan at the front desk was especially helpful. We did experience an inconvenience on our first night: a full emergency building evacuation. We got up, got ready, and evacuated as instructed, but it ended up being nothing, which definitely disrupted our night since we were already getting ready for bed. I mentioned it at checkout, and Dylan let me know he would take care of the resort fee for that night. I’ll be checking the final billing statement to make sure it reflects that adjustment. Another thing to note is the parking situation. The hotel doesn’t have its own self parking, which I wish I had known ahead of time. Luckily, we found a nearby lot for $24 a night much better than paying $65 for valet. There were also a few external holiday parties happening at the hotel during our stay, so the elevators were a little congested at times, but it didn’t negatively affect our experience. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Sentinel. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is kind, and the vibe is great. Despite a couple of minor inconveniences, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
