Splendido Mare, a Belmond Hotel, enjoys a privileged location on Portofino’s Piazzetta. Reopened in 2021 following a complete reimagination, this harbor side jewel radiates the carefree sophistication of the Italian Riviera. The nautical spirit and relaxed refinement of its origins are evident in the 14 individually designed rooms and suites. Discovered along winding corridors, they boast rich Ligurian hues, artisanal details and picture-perfect harbour views. Murano glass lamps, understated Rubelli fabrics and vintage Gio Ponti furniture blend timeless style with a hint of dolce vita. Crowning the hotel is the light and airy Ava Gardner Suite with a magnificent terrace stretching its entire length – perfect for glittering private parties. Splendido Mare guests are welcome to enjoy a complimentary sailing excursion on a traditional gozzo, private loungers on the nearby secluded beach of Paraggi, and the exceptional facilities at sister hotel, Splendido.

A hotel that truly makes you feel like the most important guest in the world From the moment you arrive, Splendido Mare in Portofino makes you feel like the most important guest in the world. The setting is simply beautiful, and the hotel itself is spectacular. Food and service are impeccable at every turn, and even the smallest details — the tableware, the cutlery — are refined and thoughtfully chosen. A benchmark for what genuine luxury hospitality should feel like.

Splendido of course one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in one of the most beautiful places in the world .what truly makes it special are the people who bring it to life . They have help create memories in one of the most significant chapters of my life .

I couldn’t wait to leave this place. The location is beautiful, but I don’t stay at a luxury hotel just to admire the view, I stay there to rest and relax. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to do either. The staff clearly lack the training expected at a hotel of this level. Throughout my stay, I dealt with repeated misinformation and mistakes, and every issue was met with yet another, “We’re sorry.” Well, I’m sorry too that I chose to stay here. The property has narrow hallways, yet the staff seemed completely unaware of how much noise they were making. On two consecutive mornings, around 7:00 a.m., I had to leave my room and ask them to stop slamming the service doors because I couldn’t sleep. The most unacceptable part was that, while I was staying with my daughter, a male staff member entered our room twice without knocking. That is simply inexcusable. We were also offered a complimentary two-hour boat ride. After about an hour, while we were already in the middle of the sea, the boat driver informed us that we would have to pay if we wanted to continue for the second hour. Putting guests in that situation is completely unprofessional. These were just some of the many stressful situations we experienced, none of which are compatible with the standards of a luxury hotel. The bed was also one of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. It didn’t even have a pillow-top mattress, which is something I would expect from a hotel in this category. The room was overcrowded with unnecessary furniture, leaving very little space to store luggage or move around comfortably. Overall, I was extremely disappointed. It felt as though no one was truly managing or overseeing this hotel, and the lack of English proficiency among many staff members only made communication and resolving issues even more difficult. This was, without question, one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

Fabulous location, probably the best appointed suite we have ever stayed in. Too many little touches to mention. Staff are wonderful and found us great tables at exceptional restaurants every evening. Delicious breakfast. On the last day we had a breakfast box - feasted on it the whole day
