Secret Bay

We recently celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary at Secret Bay and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like a family - warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making every moment special. The villa, Zabuco III was incredible. It was immaculate, peaceful, and private with breathtaking sunrises and a plunge pool that made every morning special. The food was incredible, fresh, local, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. We felt completely at ease the entire stay. Secret Bay isn't just a beautiful place - it's an experience. The service, the privacy, the natural beauty is unmatched. From our villa host, Francesca (who was so amazing, and even left special treats for us each night and made our anniversary extra special), to the golf cart attendants, to the General Manager, Craig, and Almer, Johnny, Jacob, everyone at concierge, reservations, all were all truly happy wonderful people to meet who goes above and beyond! We even left a bag of souvenir's after we returned home, Bernisha with concierge helped us find it and was so kind to ship it back to us in the U.S.! This is the place to celebrate something special or simply recharge in total luxury - Secret Bay is perfection. We can't wait to return!! Thank you for making our trip so memorable!

My wife and I recently travelled to Dominica and stayed at Secret Bay for a week in July 2025 (Clifftop Zabuco I). I've been eyeing this resort for some time (almost two years), but hadn't had the opportunity to visit until this year. The resort, was amazing, food was great (especially the fine dining experience). The staff were friendly and always ready to help you out. If you are into adventures, there is plenty of stuff to do which the staff will coordinate and you will not have to worry about anything. Scuba diving there was amazing. If you choose to simply enjoy your room with pool, and enjoy the sunsets, you will be rewarded as well. Great place for couples to relax, unwind and enjoy nature.

This place is incredible!! We travelled to Dominica via Miami on a family holiday over the Easter break, having read many wonderful reviews of Secret Bay we were filled with intrigue and excitement but were still a little unsure what to expect. We had lots of great communications prior to our visit planning our activities in advance to make sure we made the best of the visit and we were certainly not disappointed. The whole team at Secret Bay lead by the charming Craig Sands are just wonderful and made a special place even more special. We took many great trips including whale watching where we did not see Sperm Whales, but did see Pilot Whales. The mandatory Indian River cruise with Fire, a lovely day in the rainforest with Dr Birdy and a magical boat trip and snorkel with Captain Don who was funny, informative and a true Dominican. The location is something else, the rooms amazing and the peaceful mantra to ‘go smooth’ meant the time just drifted by intermingled with marvellous food and cocktails. One of the highlights that we would certainly recommend was the in room cooking class, we had chef Hilroy who was so brilliant and took our children under his watchful eye as Sous Chefs creating a marvellous dining experience. Secret Bay is a secret worth sharing!

I’ve been fortunate to stay at leading hotels around the world. That said, this review is in comparison to properties like St. Regis Rome, Ritz-Carlton Venice, Hotel Chable Yucatán and countless of other “5-Star” properties across the globe. Location - 3.5 out of 5 - You can hear traffic from the busy road almost everywhere on the property. In addition, it’s a very hilly property which requires you to either call for a golf cart or ride the funicular. Food - 4 out of 5 - The chefs were creative with their dishes and tried to use local sourced produce and meats. Room - 4.5 out of 5 - Very nice rooms with fantastic views, private pool, complete kitchen, hardwood folding doors that could open up the entire space to the outside. Service - 3.5 out of 5 - Most employees tried but were either undertrained or it was just a culture thing. In general, the way they greeted us or lack there of, their lack of attentiveness or anticipation of our needs and the general feel that we were more of an annoyance by being there. Specific examples were when we returned to the hotel in our rental car no one was there to greet us nor help us with our things. Often, I had to retrieve my car myself. At the poolside bar one particular bartender (not Melissa) was one of the worst. She wanted to be anywhere but there serving us. It was uncomfortable. Front desk staff was poorly trained. Beach - 3.5 out of 5 - A lot of seaweed, rocky and the water was not real clear. In summary, Secret Beach tries to be a “world-class destination” but falls short in too many areas for us to consider returning.

My husband & I had the opportunity to celebrate our anniversary here, away from our young children, so we were seeking a truly intimate getaway. Secret Bay is that & more. We actually now hope to return with our children someday, as the island offers adventure for the whole family. We spent 4 nights, and much of our time reading by the beach, snorkeling (day AND night - night snorkeling was so cool!) & enjoying the property. The property itself is so lush & natural, and largely untouched; the beautiful, spacious villas are built right into the hillside...and the funicular was so unique to get up/down. We often felt like we were the only ones there! Breakfast in our villa's screened porch was the perfect way to begin our days, and the plunge pool was a delight in the evenings. Yoga & massages were relaxing, as both overlooked the sea. The Indian River tour was a great way to learn more about Dominica, and you departed right from Secret Bay's beach. Any passing rain showers or mosquitos were not a bother, even in July (and bug repellant was provided, if asked). *All* of the staff is truly wonderful, knowledgable & attentive. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
