Once again, I travelled to Secret Bay, Dominica in March 2026. It's the perfect private paradise that I enjoy going back to as often as I can. This time, I traveled with three friends, and everything about our experience was designed for both relaxation and connection. Our villa was beautifully designed, had the most incredible ocean view and surrounded by lush rainforest. Waking up to the sounds of nature and enjoying breakfast on the terrace quickly became a favourite daily ritual. What truly set Secret Bay apart was the level of service. The staff and villa attendants were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and special. Everything was taken care of, allowing us to fully unwind and be present. The perfect balance of luxury and nature. I loved the private plunge pool, quiet beach area, open air gym and meeting new people at the lap pool and bar area. Dominica itself is incredibly beautiful, and Secret Bay provides the perfect home base to experience it all while still feeling tucked away in your own private oasis. So much to do around the island, if that is what you are looking for, or the perfect place to relax and unwind. This trip gave us unforgettable memories and meaningful time together as friends. I would highly recommend Secret Bay to anyone looking for a unique, luxurious, and soul-refreshing getaway.

This is a bucket list, must do resort. The hotel is nestled on the wild and undeveloped island of Dominica. This is not a place to see see and be seen but a place to truly relax and reset. We stayed 5 nights and despite it being the furthest and longest we’ve been away from our kids - we weren’t quite ready to go home. The pace of secret bay is the same as many on the island refer to themselves - calm. Villa We stayed in the Summit Mapou. It was absolute perfection. When life gets too chaotic or I need to go to my happy place I’m going to envision myself in the pool in our villa overlooking Coconut Beach with the sun setting. I’ve not felt so at peace in almost 15 years. The villa was stacked with amenities, including charging cords for any device you could possibly need. The kitchen was so well equipped you could’ve cooked a five course meal there no problem. The outdoor shower is another spot that I will bring myself back to. It was private, secluded, and I can’t imagine there ever being a better view from a shower. Food We ended up deciding to do the full board just because we didn’t want to have to worry about whether or not we were going to eat lunch, breakfast or dinner on the property. We had all of our meals on property, including lunches to go for a few days where we did an excursion or we took the lunch to secret Beach or Coconut Beach to enjoy a picnic while we swam. Tip: be very descriptive about what you are hoping for lunch and make sure they pack cold packs for you! The island can be hot. For breakfast, we only ate one time in the dining room. Other times we had a light breakfast in our villa or even had them deliver the tasting tower up to our room! We really enjoyed being able to eat our breakfast from our villa with our incredible view. Our dinners were amazing. One night at ZinZing was a little off but our first night was impeccable. All dinners at Bwa Denn were very very good. We ordered sometimes off the tapas menu - no problem. Excursions We did the Boiling Lake hike with Shevon. It was HARD and we’re pretty good hikers. Shevon made it look and feel easy. It was like spending 6 hours with a new friend whose only goal is to make sure you’re safe and happy. Everyone needs a friend like Shevon! We ended the hike with a dip in the Ti Tou Gorge - perfect ending to a rigorous hike. An absolute highlight of our trip. We also did an Indian River tour with Fire! He picks you up right at the Secret Bay Beach and takes you up the river to a rum bar. He is an absolute gem on the island and this is a must do for all. I recommend the 4 PM tour because it is not so hot and a perfect time to be on a sunset cruise. Staff The real gem here is the staff. Keldon, our Villa Host, the Concierge and Waters sports team were incredible. No request was too large and they were easy to reach on our secret bay provided phone. The wait staff at all the restaurants were friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. Notes: The wine here is very, very expensive. I know that it is expensive to get things to the island, but the bottles were 3 to 4 times their original cost. Also in ZingZing the wine list is very limited with only 8 bottles and my husband was pretty disappointed with the wines when he ordered the pairing menu. The cocktails on the other hand were a highlight across all bars and restaurants. Must have the Bush Rum - especially the Relaxing Coco. We had many! We did some really incredible snorkeling from secret beach. If the water is calm enough, you can swim out and go to the left. You’ll go over a first set of reefs and then a little bit of seagrass onto another reef. That second reef is large and goes out pretty far. We must have seen between 20 and 30 different species of fish, including cuttlefish, a stingray, a lion fish, and a puffer fish to name a few. We brought a safety bubble with us, but if you feel unsure about it, I bet someone from the water sports team would be more than happy to accompany you. All in all this is a truly unique place and we can only hope it’s kept exactly as is - perfection!

There aren't too many places that make you forget there are other places. Secret Bay is one of them. The villas are built from beautiful Brazilian ipe, all have a private infinity plunge pool and accordion doors that open onto deep terraces with stunning ocean, cliff and rainforest views. Our villa felt less like a hotel room and more like a personal sanctuary, better appointed and equipped than any 5 star suite I've ever stayed in. The service is genuinely one-of-a-kind: a dedicated villa host who often anticipates needs before you, a concierge reachable by your personal villa phone, and an attentiveness that never crosses into intrusion. On our last day i left my phone and didn’t realize it until we got to the airport. We called the resort where Tara and Jessica sprang into action, located the phone and sent it with a driver to the airport more than 70 minutes away. I got it just in time, in my seat as the pilot was preparing for take off! The restaurants, particularly Sing Sing, which is perched where the rainforest meets the Caribbean Sea are fantastic. We ate dinner at Sing Sing 3 of 6 nights (the 3rd was graciously offered by the resort’s amazing GM, Keith) Here, the no-menu” concept lets the chef draw on seasonal, local ingredients available that day, sourcing seafood, meat, and produce from nearby farmers and fishermen he visits daily. The resort setting has a primeval feel, lush, dramatic, and somehow both wild and serene. It is the #1 resort in the Caribbean for a reason, but even rankings like this don't capture what this place actually feels like. Thank you Secret Bay!
