Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa

This hotel is beautiful I booked it for me and my wife's 10th wedding anniversary and was very impressed. The hotel is elegant and decor is amazing, our room was outstanding from the secret bathroom to the outdoor courtyard, the staff were excellent and the food was exceptional we truly enjoyed our stay.

Booked this for our anniversary! So plus points great looking hotel lovely interior staff helpful breakfast and coffee shop staff great couldnt ask for more !room big bed comfy and rooms looked after! So all good! Now don’t get room 115 although so nice we had so much noise from the room about sounded like the occupants were trying for a marathon you could hear them constantly walking and scraping chairs ! Late at night ended up taking sleeping tablets every night ! So i guess the key here is get a top floor room and you wont hear that all wood floors so much noise ! Shame really

I stayed at the Alchymist Grand Hotel &. Spa for two days, and I have rather mixed feelings about the experience. Let me start with the positives. The hotel certainly looks grand. The Baroque style, the beautiful interiors and the little garden create exactly the kind of luxurious atmosphere you would expect from a five-star hotel. Although, having travelled quite a lot, I have to say that Baroque interiors are hardly something I have never seen before. My room was exactly as I had booked it, with everything I expected, and I have no complaints about the housekeeping. In fact, the cleaning staff were absolutely wonderful. They were attentive to detail and provided genuinely excellent service. The bed linen was also of very good quality and I had no complaints about the room itself. However, there is one problem that I simply cannot ignore: the smell. Unfortunately, there is a persistent smell of urine in several areas of the hotel. It is particularly noticeable around the entrance, the seating areas near reception and even in the lovely little garden. The garden itself is charming, but the smell rather spoils it. The entire bathroom in my room also had a strong smell of urine. And just to be clear, this was not my smell or anything caused by me. It was a stale, lingering smell that was already there when I arrived, as though it had been absorbed into the room over time. This is not something you can simply blame on an old building. Even in a historic five-star hotel, surely there are modern cleaning products and professional solutions that can deal with such a strong and apparently long-standing smell. It becomes a rather unfortunate companion throughout your stay. I also wasn't impressed with the towels. They had a slightly strange smell and felt rather worn and dated. The bed linen, on the other hand, was excellent, so the contrast was quite noticeable. The restaurant was perfectly fine. I ordered food to my room and everything was absolutely satisfactory. Some of the dishes were actually quite inventive and interesting, so when something was good, I am very happy to say that it was good. Breakfast service was also very good. Perhaps a little too attentive for my personal taste. There seemed to be a constant flow of staff coming back and forth trying to make sure everything was perfect. Some guests will probably love this level of attention; personally, I found it slightly overwhelming. I also found the staff a little too loud at times, laughing and talking to each other quite openly. Again, this is very much a matter of personal taste. One final point: when I arrived, nobody came to greet me or show me where reception was. I actually had to rely on other guests, who kindly pointed me in the right direction. Perhaps not a major issue, but at a hotel of this category, I would have expected a slightly warmer welcome. So, would I stay here again? No. The hotel has beautiful surroundings, an impressive interior, very good housekeeping and some genuinely excellent service. But for me, the persistent smell, the tired towels and the somewhat hectic atmosphere took away from the five-star experience I was expecting. These are simply my personal impressions after a two-day stay. Other guests may experience the hotel very differently, and that is perfectly fair. For me, however, the hotel looks very luxurious on the surface, but some details don't quite live up to the five-star promise.

Beautiful room, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff went above and beyond, perfect location, excellent value. I would gladly stay here again!

Amazing stay . Stop looking and book this hotel. Words cannot describe the unique and beautiful setting for these rooms . The property is a feast for the eyes. Service was the best we have experienced of any staying the world . Paying the small extra fee to have breakfast delivered to the room each morning was amazing . I could go on and on but book this hotel . Look at the pictures and enjoy . One of the most special hotels in the world.
