Disappointing experience. More of a conference venue than a family hotel. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired—nothing out of the ordinary. The breakfast manager seemed constantly in a bad mood and unfriendly when approached. The waitress was nice. The biggest issue is that the hotel is heavily focused on corporate events rather than families. The hallways were constantly crowded with conference attendees, and they completely overrun the breakfast area every morning, which ruined the relaxing vibe of the stay. I would not return. The room was big, but the pillows were as hard as they could be.

We stayed at the Almanac for two nights. The location is perfect. It is close to many attractions and restaurants but on a side street so not noisy. The room is small but nicely laid out. There was even a sofa in the room. There was a nice selection of coffees and teas. Wine glasses were in the room along with an adapter which is a nice touch. Like the room itself, the bathroom is also small but the shower is perfection. Breakfast is a treat. There is a wide variety of delicious choices on the buffet and guests can also order from the menu. The bar looks like a relaxing spot to unwind at end the day ¬ or could have been if the disco beat would have been lower. Also you may want to pass on the burger. But the chocolate salted caramel tart is worth all of the calories.

The location is good. It’s beside the shopping area and 10 to 15 mins walk from old town. However, it is a disappointing experience for a five-star hotel and Michelin Key Hotel. No one helped with our luggage on arrival. During the stay there was no greeting or acknowledgement. When I returned with a large shopping bag for my check-in Luggage, staff simply watched and didn’t offer to help. The concierge/bellman was often seen leaning on the reception desk chatting rather than assisting guests. The room was bare-bones: no slippers, and only one vanity kit for two people. Turndown service only appeared on the last night, and the staff seemed unsure of what to do. One of the night, I was woken up by people screaming in the hallway and we were able to hear people next to our room talking and playing music. My friend, a Platinum Discovery member, asked for extra water bottles and got a purely transactional response from the duty manager stating hotel policy is 2 bottle of water per day and she will make an exception. She only received an apology after posting on TripAdvisor. The manager then emailed to request a conversation, but only found out we checked out already. She mentioned she attempted to reach out the day before. Not sure why she didn’t email us the day before. Similar situation happened to me before, the manager knew our checkout date and reached out immediately via email when she couldn’t find me. Here, it felt like damage control rather than genuine care. Just before Prague, I stayed at Grand Hotel Las Dunas in Spain, and the difference in service was huge. Five stars should mean attentive, proactive hospitality, and this stay fell short.

Almanac X enjoys an excellent location on Štěpánská, close to Wenceslas Square. The historic building has been fully renovated, and beautifully maintained. I stayed in a suite with a spacious bathroom and a separate WC off the entrance hall. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept exceptionally well. Breakfast was a highlight, combining beautifully presented à la carte dishes with a generous buffet offering plenty of choice. The gym was also well equipped, with machines, free weights and treadmills. Service was consistently prompt and professional, both at reception and during breakfast, with staff always readily available. Alcron Bar deserves a special mention. Its intimate atmosphere and Art Deco style give it real character, while the cocktails were unusually creative and expertly made. A destination in its own right, and one of the highlights of my stay. I look forward to returning and hope to experience the planned rooftop terrace on my next visit.

We had a fantastic stay and would happily give this hotel 5 stars. The location was excellent and made it a great base for exploring Prague, with many of the city's sights easily accessible. The staff were also excellent — friendly, helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. We particularly enjoyed the food, and the bar was a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Overall, a really enjoyable stay with a great location, excellent staff, good food and a lovely bar. We would happily stay here again when visiting Prague.
