The Good: The location cannot be beat. It’s right in the middle of everything and a few minutes walk to the city center and the old Town Square. A grocery store, pharmacy and several restaurants are just minutes away As far as service goes, I found it to be hit or miss. Archon (sp?) the young man (lean, dark hair and glasses) at the front desk in the evening was excellent. He gave us a few great recommendations which were exactly what we requested. Five stars for him. Domenika at the front desk was also very friendly and responsive. The hotel and room were very clean The room service was conscientious and prompt. The food from the restaurant menu is okay, nothing gourmet. Limited menu choices. We ordered from it a couple of times as we were tired. I would highly recommend a small local restaurant called Sapore Vero, very close to the hotel. Delicious food. Gracious, welcoming service. Reasonable prices and run by Italians. There were Italian people in the restaurant so you know it’s good. Reasonably quiet considering it’s in the middle of a large city. There’s a little noise but not much. We slept fine and I’m a light sleeper. The Bad: Laundry service is expensive as it usually is at high end hotels. The Great Pillow Kerfuffle! We were booked at the Andaz Hotel through our cruise company plus an extra night. My husband sustained an injury and needed extra pillows for leg and sleep support. We figured at a five star Hyatt Hotel, they would be able to supply that. We asked for them at the desk and they sent them up, but then we noticed the next day, a maid had taken a couple of pillows back. Unfortunately that was not enough for us so we again asked for a couple more. Later, we get a knock on our door. At first, a woman apparently in management although she didn’t identify herself, asked why we didn’t respond to the bell. Then she pressed the doorbell and it made no sound in the room. She realized that our doorbell was broken. Then she came in and I was half dressed, which made it awkward. She said she needed two pillows back right away because apparently they only have six memory foam pillows for a luxury hotel with over 170 rooms! Under order much? She was cordial, but we felt chastised for requesting too many pillows. This isn’t a Motel 6 or an EconoLodge where a request like that might be over and above what they could provide. The Andaz markets itself as one of the most luxurious hotels in Prague and a few extra pillows break the bank? Go figure. This same request was no problem at the other three hotels we stayed in on this trip. Nobody even blinked. We also wanted to use the sauna and steam room (again, for medical reasons). On the menu of services on TV and the QR code you scan, it said the sauna and steam room were open from 9 AM to 9 PM but when we asked at 8PM how late they were open at the desk, they said 7PM. My husband was in pain and would have gone earlier if he had known. Please post the correct hours. It’s not that hard. Again, this is a FIVE star hotel. My husband has worked at luxury branded hotels. At that level, management inventory problems should be *invisible* to their guests. Instead we felt chastised for the management’s shortcomings. He said in his hotel days, he would have immediately apologized and offered a couple of drinks in the bar or some little token that costs a hotel almost nothing. Sometimes he’d just go out and buy what the guest wanted. While this incident wasn’t that big a deal as a whole, it was irritating and initially left us with an unfavorable impression. In conclusion after reading other reviews it seems the service is hit or miss. It has some good things, but you have to weigh whether it’s worth the cost or not. The Ugly: There was no ugly but I couldn’t resist a Clint Eastwood reference :)
