Iron Gate Hotel & Suites

The hotel is centrally located and great for sightseeing. we found our suite comfortable, warm and quiet. We managed to access Netflix on the Tvs, but other than that, the Tvs are for news unless you speak Czech. the bed was very firm but manageable, water hot and plentiful, but the mini bar was expensive. large supermarkets (Tesco & Lidl plus more) are nearby so buy water etc from there, avoid small local supermarkets as they are very expensive. we found the tap water was safe to drink. the hotel breakfast is luke warm but plentiful, what you usually expect in a buffet breakfast. We were surprised at checkout that there was a £100czk per day tourist tax (I would prefer to have been notified of this at the beginning of my stay) plus an outrageous £200czk daily service charge! The main man on reception is very rude and abrupt, and unless he is the owner, I don't understand why he is still employed! all other staff are very friendly and helpful. all in all, Prague is a lovely city and well worth a visit.

Very nice hotel. Highly recommend. Central location, close to everything. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. Unfortunately some rude & unhelpful reception staff & one waitress at breakfast lets it down from me giving it 5 stars. Also a compulsory “service charge” of CZK200 per night is added to your bill at the end of the stay in addition to the city tax. At no point prior to booking or upon check in was I advised of the service charge which actually shows as a “tip” which is added onto the same invoice as the city tax! It’s the hotels way of getting a tip regardless of whether you want to leave one or not (which I wouldn’t have based on most of the staff I encountered). I have informed Jet2 who I booked through who were also unaware that the hotel are charging guests additional fees. It’s not something I’ve ever encountered at any hotel before & is not ethical.

What an amazing hotel. Yes it looks dated but that is it's charm. I booked it for that reason. Our room was great and it is in an ideal location to all the sights. The staff were lovely, breakfast was plentiful and we loved our stay.

The hotel was very clean and in a perfect location. The staff were friendly. We arrived 3 hours early but were permitted to go into our room straight away. On booking.com we’d booked a large double, superior room and the hotel put us in a standard twin room. Whilst adequate, it wasn’t what we’d paid for. Apart from that we’d recommend this hotel for its location, facilities and cleanliness.
