Singular Lodge Patagonia

What an outstanding experience. The hotel itself is first rate and the food was excellent. One lovely touch was the electrical converters that were provided on the bedside desk to help with charging American appliances. The views from the rooms were a constant delight and I could have spent a good deal of time simply watching the bird life in front of the hotel. I should also note that the museum concept sounded kind of hokey when I first heard about it, but my sons spent a lot of time in the three museum rooms fascinated by the old machinery - an unexpected delight. We did the all-inclusive option and I highly recommend it . I would also recommend the traditional barbecue dinner at El Asador if you can get reservations. The venue is amazing - the former foundry. The grill that the chef is working on is about 12 feet across and goes all the way up to the ceiling - visually stunning - my husband wanted one immediately. You will be fed every meat that is available in Chile and all of it is prepared wonderfully. There are also grilled veggies and traditional desserts. The staff was a pleasure with every interaction. Cecilia who was often in charge of our dinners and Benjamin who was one of the waiters were high points. In general, we ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and while the menu didn't change, we found ample choices among the many offerings and didn't get bored with our selections. Finally, you will be fed...a LOT. You are provided with a hotel prepared sack lunch for every expedition. It consists of two sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a granola bar, and a dessert (as well as the beverage of your choice). We had one epi-pen dependent member of our group and the hotel was meticulous in their handling of his food. The expeditions we participated in were eye opening and introduced us to new experiences and breathtaking natural sights. You should be aware that even in summer, the weather plays a huge role in what expeditions will be run daily. We were disappointed not to be able to do the fjord exploration because of high winds every day we were there, but the other activities that we participated in were all very satisfying. Just plan to meet with the expedition staff daily to get your next day's trips planned based on what is available - planning ahead is futile. Also, expect wind....lots of wind. The hikes are rated easy to expert. Harder generally means more elevation gain, but it can also mean scrambles over boulder fields, traversing loose pockets of shale, or being along cliff edges and very exposed to the winds. Ask the expedition coordinators detailed questions if you are concerned about the specific conditions. I am probably too old to make it back to Patagonia, but were I ever to return, I know exactly where I would stay.

Outstanding expansive views

This hotel is on the outskirts of town, about a 20 minute walk or an easy 5 minute taxi ride. The hotel is an architectural marvel and blends in with the surroundings. Located on the banks of the Ultimo Esperanza sound, it's in a very picturesque and quiet location. There are 2 levels and our room was in the lower level (lots of steps). The rooms are large, we'll furnished with beautiful bathrooms and a wall of glass overlooking the water and mountains beyond. One could spend all day in the room and watch the view, especially during sunset. The dock from where the tour boats leave is a short walk. The staff was friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was very good. The food in the restaurant was excellent, but make sure to let them know that you plan to dine. They have bikes available and a nice lobby area to hangout with other guests and sip wine. They will call a taxi for you if you want.

Fantastic trip to Patagonia

The facility, the staff, and the food exceeded expectations. The food rivals Michelin restaurant with expansive choices. The staff was friendly and on point. A great experience and I would return any time.

nice historical hotel

NICE HOTEL with a historic land site. they gave us a tour of the property. Staff was friendly helpful. There were wonderful views from all the rooms. the downside of this hotel is there is no air conditioning. the guest before us had cranked the heat up at max and the room was a sauna when entering it. It took over 24 hours to cool down. the added heat made the room stuffy with a chemical smell to it. They did give us a fan to help. they also have a turn down service with carmels left nightly for guest.
