Waldorf Astoria Spa

We had massages at the spa, and it was incredible. The reception team was very polite, upbeat, and friendly, catering to her every need. Alex and Lisette are two wonderful therapists. I would highly recommend asking for them by name, you will not be disappointed!

Excellent experience

My husband and I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya Resort and had a lovely experience. The staff was very personable, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our personal concierge, Mayra, was very respectful, attentive and helpful. The rooms are very clean, spacious, modern and very comfortable, and all include a beautiful shaded ocean view terrace. The staff at the beach and the pool area were very helpful, attentive, and courteous, specially Patricia. Raul, in charge of water sports, took us out into the ocean and showed us how to handle a paddle-board and kayaks. It was a very fun activity. Astor, the fitness instructor was very knowledgeable, personable and led amazing classes. She offered a Floating Core workout every morning as well as Yoga, and Pilates classes; they were all excellent. Chef Mariela from Chaya restaurant was very helpful, and catered to our dietary needs throughout our stay. The kitchen staff and waiters were very cordial and attentive at all times, specially our waiters Alberto and Miguel. The resort has a beautiful state of the art Spa with an outdoor hydraulic pool, which it’s use for an hour, is included with any Spa treatment, as well as the sauna and steam room. The Swedish massage treatment hit the spot! The bell team, specially Antonio and Javier were very helpful and cordial. The Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya Resort is located in a quiet and secluded area between Cancun and Play del Carmen, away from the hustle and bustle of the city of Cancun, on a beautiful beach.

I booked the hotel thru Amex FHR for one night. We were traveling from MIA to CUN to Paris (don't ask) and we decided to stay one night in Cancun. I picked it for the price, reviews and my ability to use various business amex cards for the $50 Hilton credit. I'm typically a Marriott person and travel with my husband. The hotel entrance is approx 10 mins from the airport and then another 15 minutes to get to the hotel...The hotel is gorgeous and the room was gorgeous. It is connected to a Hilton, but the amenities are not shared. We walked to see the Hilton and it is night and day from a design and serenity perspective. A few days before arrival, I got a notice that we had been upgraded to a room with a plunge pool. (I don't remember what I originally booked). Per the email, it was because of my Gold status with Hilton and not FHR. We were in room 110 - ground level. The room was beautiful and well appointed - spacious and luxurious. We had an outdoor bathtub (not a hot tub) and a plunge pool that was pretty big. Since it is on the ground floor, all the upper floor balconies look down on to the pool and there are foot paths to the pool area that are in front of the room. There is shrubbery to semi-privacy, but you will not feel comfortable skinny dipping. And, on ground level, there is no real ocean view (that you would get from a higher floor balcony). Food at the pool/beach was amazing and gourmet. Lunch is approx $150 for guacamole, 2 burgers and 2-4 cocktails. Breakfast was great and the a la carte egg dishes were done with a gourmet flair. The beach is small. They did have this anti-seaweed pontoon things in the water, so the water and beach were not filled with seaweed. We were there Apr 30th and the hotel was empty, so it was very peaceful. It felt like there were 10:1 staff: guests, so everyone was attentive, but not intrusive. Overall, the hotel felt very luxurious, modern and what you would expect from a high-end hotel with regards to room, food and service.
