Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa sits on a bluff where the South American pampa meets Lake Sarmiento. The building is immersed in the landscape and emerges from the hillside. The award winning architecture complements the flow of the geology in this privileged location and showcases the magnificent views of the Torres del Paine National Park, declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978.

We are a late 20-s couple from North America that spent our honeymoon in Patagonia (both Argentina and Chile). In Argentina we rented a tiny home in Chalten before coming to our luxury experience in Chile - Tierra! Tierra hotels did not disappoint based on price, location, and amenities! We spent 5 nights at the lodge, although if I were to plan this again I would do 6 nights to budget in one day of rest between our hikes. The variety of excursions they provide was phenomenal - horseback riding, glacier cruise, and the challenging iconic Base Torres hike. The guides we liked best were Alonso and Eduardo for their expansive knowledge about the geology, plants, and general information about the area. When you’re not hiking, the lounge area is a perfect place to grab a cocktail and read/play cards/call loved ones and the pool/spa has everything you need to relax. As an all inclusive resort, all meals and drinks are included. The meals were well curated and featured local flavors, and the wait staff was very happy to discuss these flavors with us and tell us an anecdote or two about a time when they like to enjoy the dishes with friends and family. The hotel was able to pick us up from Calafate for an extra fee, but it was worth it to not have to take the bus all the way back to Puerto Natales. They helped us with border crossing from Argentina to Chile which was a breeze! The views from each room are phenomenal! You can see the back side of the 3 towers on the right side of the mountain across the lake. We had breakfast in bed one morning and it was one of the highlights of our trip! Overall, Tierra exceeded our expectations and effectively brings luxury to the Patagonian wilderness.

The setting here is stunning. The view from the lobby is iconic. Our arrival was handled well, transportation very easy and we received a thorough discussion about the excursions. The excursions were impressive, guides friendly and knowledgeable. Hiking poles are available, along with snacks/packed lunch on some of the longer days. That being said our overall impression ended up mixed, primarily because of the dining experience. This felt like a recurring pattern across both Tierra properties. The food and cocktails are fantastic, however, service is disorganized in a way that doesn’t align with the level of the hotel or the cost of the stay. There were many instances of long waits, incorrect items, and an inconsistent sense of who was responsible for what. We’d receive entrees before drinks or appetizers, wait over half an hour for cocktails or something as small as a side of hot sauce, and frequently had servers ask if dishes belonged to us with visible uncertainty. It wasn’t a matter of staff attitude, because everyone was friendly. It felt more like training or coordination issues. We raised our concerns after multiple nights of this, and the kitchen supervisor genuinely tried to help. The solution offered was to pre-schedule our dinner time and dining table for the rest of the stay so that the team could better manage. While I appreciated the attempt at service recovery, we did not want to have every moment of our trip scheduled. Towards the end of the stay my husband and I just laughed our way through it. Breakfast had similar inconsistency. Some days I wasn’t acknowledged by a server at all when I sat down. Getting served coffee was a 50/50 chance, and a second? no way. This is despite a mostly empty dining room. Several guests we spoke with also didn’t realize eggs could be ordered until midway through their stay, simply because they weren’t shown the menu. The same thing happened to us, and also with the bar menu, which we only discovered on our last day. The information is available, but it’s not consistently communicated. The spa was a mixed experience as well. The sound healing and yoga offerings were lovely. We also had a great massage which we booked massages using the Tierra Patagonia app, which is linked directly from the welcome materials. The app listed massages at $130, but after the treatment we were handed a bill saying $180, and at hotel checkout were told the charge is $150. When we asked why the prices didn’t match, we were told the hotel was “not affiliated” with the app, which was confusing given that the same app had been used successfully to request pillows and coffee to the room. If the app is going to be part of the guest experience, the pricing and communication should be consistent. There is much to enjoy about Tierra Patagonia: the landscape, the food, friendly guides. But the inconsistencies in restaurant service and guest communication do affect the overall experience. With more structured and reliable service at meals and clearer coordination around guest information, the stay could match the beauty of the location.

We had an amazing experience at Tierra Patagonia! It's a beautiful place with unique architecture, great facilities and it has the best views from everywhere around the hotel. Their friendly staff took care of every detail from arrival to departure. Their excursions and guides were great and we had a lovely time. Also loved their pool and spa facilities and the food was amazing!

We went here for our honeymoon and wish we could’ve stayed longer. Highly, highly recommend this place. The service was amazing, place was clean and beautiful, and bonus points for being environmentally friendly. All of the staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The food was delicious and the wine was great too. I appreciated having options and choices for meals even as a vegetarian. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and clearly had done training and study in guiding. The transfers were easy and not too much more of a price considering the length of the drive. Even with a few hiccups with our room, everything was so well managed and taken care of quickly. Only negative experience was one night when it took 2.5 hours to be served dinner. There were two massive groups that were getting priority over most of the rest of us. It was frustrating because we weren’t really communicated with about what the issue was and why it was taking so long, but honestly it seemed like they were short staffed and things were better the next night. Just a blip in an overall superb experience
