Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa

I will start with my thoughts on the facility and end with why their service was incredible. The hotel is stunning and all the views are beautiful. The way the architect blended the hotel into the landscape really sets this hotel apart. We booked a suite primarily for the perk of having a private guide. We wanted the ability to tailor our trip activities and for us it was truly worth the premium pricing. Private transport was provided to/from the airport. The room itself was very nice. The two-story windows provided amazing views. The upper lounge area was nice to relax and an ample bar/coffee area was included. We were asked to provide a general wish list of what we wanted to do ahead of time. Our assigned guide, Eduardo, had received it and we went over it the first afternoon of our arrival. He explained the different hikes in detail and we set a schedule for the visit which could be adjusted later if we wanted. For those in nonsuites, there was a list of daily activities that you could sign up for and for the most part included hikes/activities we were doing but just in a potentially larger group. Weather in Patagonia can be variable so we expected it. Fall weather was mixed with first day lots of snow and other days beautiful sunshine. High winds were off/on. Things provided by hotel, trekking poles, a backpack (wish I had known as I would have left mine at home), gaiters and crampons if trail conditions required, lots of snacks at the exit door so you could stock up for the trail. A surprising feature was a drying service for your shoes, jackets, and over-gear. This was really appreciated after a hike in snowy conditions. The sauna was nice as well as the heated pool. The outdoor hot tub was cold so we didn’t stay long. It was very windy so may have impacted low temperature. We stayed at Tierra Atacama before arrival at Tierra Patagonia so of course we had some set expectations and comparisons. Tierra Atacama hands down had better service and an edge on better food at the restaurant. We felt there were long wait times for service both ordering and receiving food. Mistakes were made in the orders. I would give bar service at Tierra Patagonia a slight edge over Tierra Atacama. Both private guides provided hot drinks/soup on the trail and a variety of drinks afterward for the ride back to the hotel. Eduardo also provided some snacks on the way back to Tierra Patagonia which ended up being really appreciated. Now to the unbelievable customer service that we experienced at Tierra Patagonia. Toward the end of our stay, a brief lapse in my attention resulted in a fall that broke my arm. Our guide, Eduardo formed a sling with his coat and we walked out to the car. Eduardo then drove us to the hotel for a brief stop and then to the Emergency Hospital in Puerto Natales. He was instrumental in acting as an interpreter for us with the medical staff. X-rays confirmed a compound fracture of the humerus and elbow. ER doctor said you need to see an Orthopedic Surgeon as it was too bad for him to do anything but to put on a splint. He also said that he could not sign the necessary clearance for me to fly commercial. My husband spent most of the rest of the night trying to work with our Travel Insurance Company, Aegis to try to get emergency evacuation to Santiago. Even after seeing the x-rays and acknowledging that the fracture was bad, they said that they could not provide an emergency evacuation flight to Santiago. Best they could do was a commercial flight in 5 days since all the commercial flights were full. Also told us not to cancel our own reservations as they would get us back to Santiago sooner. Our policy coverage was listed at $500,000 for emergency evacuation but Aegis failure to provide paid for coverage is not a discussion for here. We were just not sure how we were going get home without the ability to fly commercial. When we woke up the next morning, Eduardo said that Lucy at the front office had arranged a car and driver to get us Punta Arenas where the only Orthopedic doctor in the region was located. Ricardo drove us down to the hospital and Eduardo came along to help with interpretation. Pulled the only Orthopedic doctor into the hospital on Easter Sunday to look at the x-rays. He also said the fracture was very bad but I really should have it fixed by a US Surgeon. However, he said that the fracture should be externally stabilized to prevent more internal damage from the broken bones. He would sign an authorization to fly after the surgery. After the stabilization surgery was completed, Ricardo drove us back to Tierra Patagonia. Drive time was about 5 hours each way on not great roads plus the 6 hours or so waiting around the hospital was a very long day for everyone. When we got back Lucy had arranged some food for us delivered to our room. We were able to fly out the next day on our regularly schedule flights back to the US. Tierra Patagonia made that possible. We will forever be grateful for the care and concern shown us in a very trying time by the wonderful people at Tierra Patagonia. I hope to return in the future to finish a few hikes I didn’t get to do and seeing the elusive Pumas.

We spent a month in Chile and Argentina and Tierra Patagonia was the standout lodge. The building itself is beautiful and sits so well in the landscape. The view from the room was amazing, and ever changing. The staff all so helpful and engaging. The outings all interesting and different with great guides and drivers - who are all clearly quite passionate about what they are doing. The food and service in the restaurant was good (with a special shout out to Sebastian). They only negative of our stay was still a positive - when we were leaving our bags were put on the wrong vehicle. However one of the staff went after the other vehicle, collected our bags and then met us on the road to return them to us. Mistakes happen but they fixed the issue efficiently and quickly. Loved every moment.

We chose Tierra Patagonia to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary — a milestone that deserved somewhere truly extraordinary. What we found exceeded every expectation we had, and set a benchmark for experiential travel that will be very difficult to match. The Location — Otherworldly Doesn't Cover It The setting is simply insane. Perched on the edge of Lake Sarmiento with the towers of Torres del Paine rising directly in front of you, the hotel feels less like a building and more like a front-row seat to one of the most dramatic landscapes on the planet. The floor-to-ceiling windows ensure the views are never incidental — whether you're at breakfast, in the spa, or simply sitting quietly in the lounge, Patagonia is always right there, in full, unfiltered glory. At sunrise and sunset particularly, the light on the Torres is something that no photograph does justice to. You simply have to be there. The Food — Far Beyond What You'd Expect at the End of the World The quality of the food was a genuine and very pleasant surprise. This is not hotel food that gets a pass because of its remote location — it is genuinely excellent cooking, thoughtfully sourced and beautifully presented, that would hold its own in any serious restaurant. Every meal felt considered, every ingredient purposeful. After long days out in the Patagonian wilderness, returning to a dining room of this quality felt like an extraordinary luxury — and it never once disappointed across our entire stay. The Guides — The Heart of the Experience If the location is the soul of Tierra Patagonia, the guides are its heart. Knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely invested in every guest's experience, they elevated every excursion from a walk in a remarkable landscape into something far more meaningful. Their depth of knowledge — of the terrain, the wildlife, the ecology, the history of the region — was exceptional, and their ability to read what each guest needed from a given day, whether that was challenge, contemplation, or simply wonder, was remarkable. The excursions themselves were extraordinary: Torres del Paine at that level of access and guidance is a privilege very few travellers get to experience. The Friends We Made Perhaps the most unexpected and treasured part of this stay was the people we met. There is something about Tierra Patagonia — its remoteness, its intimacy, the shared experience of being somewhere so profoundly beautiful together — that creates genuine human connection in a way that few travel experiences do. The friendships formed over those three days are ones we will carry well beyond this trip. That is not something you can manufacture or market — it is simply what happens when the right place brings the right people together. Summary Twenty-five years together, and Tierra Patagonia gave us one of the most memorable three days of all of them. It is a rare gem — remote, intimate, and utterly extraordinary in every dimension. If you are considering it, stop considering and book. There are very few places in the world that genuinely live up to the word unmissable. This is one of them.

Spectacular from the moment we entered- breathtaking views and extraordinary customer service. Full array of excursions for all interests. We enjoyed the glacier cruise, horseback riding and easy hikes for stunning views of Torres del Paine. The food is delicious and accompanied by attentive staff. One of our favorite things was the warm, enclosed pool with amazing views. Beckons and Tierra Patagonia have it all figured out!

Everything about Tierra Patagonia was wonderful.Every member of staff worked seamlessly to make our stay memorable and to make us feel pampered. The food was top class, including the packed lunches. The property is a beautiful piece of architecture, in an amazing location, with fabulous views and a very ‘un-hotel’ feel.
