Rooms smelled like mold all bedding ect. Bathroom shower/bathtub didn't drain well. When reposted to house keeping was told they would fix it, was there for 5 days and issue was not fixed

Our family, the Bendavid family, recently spent our vacation at Barceló Puerto Vallarta, and we can honestly say it was one of the best resort experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we felt welcomed, appreciated, and truly cared for. The hotel itself is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and very well maintained. Our room was spacious, comfortable, spotless, and cleaned perfectly every day. The entire property reflects a high standard of professionalism and attention to detail. A very special thank you goes to Cassandra at the Premium/Front Desk. Cassandra went above and beyond for our family throughout our stay. No matter what we needed, she handled everything with kindness, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help. She made us feel valued and ensured our vacation was stress-free and enjoyable. She is truly an asset to Barceló Puerto Vallarta. We would also like to recognize Ramon Carrillo, Food & Beverage Manager, for doing an outstanding job. The dining experience at this resort was exceptional, and it is clear that his leadership and dedication are reflected throughout the entire operation. The buffet was always immaculate, organized, and beautifully presented. The food was fresh, delicious, and offered a great variety every day. We were especially impressed by the cleanliness of the kitchen and serving areas. The staff's professionalism, including proper food-handling practices and attention to hygiene, gave us complete confidence in every meal we enjoyed. A sincere thank you as well to David from Food & Beverage. His kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help never went unnoticed. Together, Ramon and David have created a dining experience that truly stands out and keeps guests coming back. Our heartfelt thanks go to Esther, our housekeeper, who kept our room spotless every day with a smile and wonderful attention to detail. The Pool Bar team made our vacation even more memorable. Thank you to Alfredo, Ricardo, Juvento, Jonathan, Moses / Allen. Their positive energy, friendliness, great service, and sense of humor made every day more enjoyable. I am typically an incredibly patient customer. I understand corporate bureaucracy and that frontline representatives often have their hands tied. I rarely write negative reviews. However, my recent experience with Barcelo Puerto Vallarta was so predatory, stressful, and toxic that I feel a moral obligation to warn other middle-class families before they trust this corporation with their hard-earned money. In 2025, my family and I stayed at Barcelo Huatulco. We had a wonderful time and made a family pact: we would save up and visit a different Barcelo resort every single year. We spent months saving for a 2026 trip to Barcelo Puerto Vallarta. In January 2026, I attempted to book using a publicly advertised "Blue Moon" promotion (26BLUE10). During checkout, my automated browser plugin found a better discount code (BTRAVELAGENTS25). I finalized the reservation, and my credit card was immediately charged. Only AFTER they took my money did a message pop up stating that if I couldn't prove I worked for a travel agency, all discounts would be stripped. Two massive red flags immediately went up: 1. Why does a major global hospitality brand use completely public coupon codes for specialized internal rates instead of a secure, dedicated portal? 2. Why did Barcelo completely hide these high-stakes terms and conditions until after my credit card was charged? I immediately reached out to Barcelo so they can correct the system error. I sent screenshots and asked them to simply apply the original "Blue Moon" rate I had planned on. Instead, they refused to give me a straight answer, stating only that they would "adjust the rate." Barcelo uses artificially inflated base rates so that coupons and promotions reveal the real price. Traveling to Puerto Vallarta without a confirmed rate meant placing my family at the mercy of a predatory organization that could demand whatever they wanted at check-in. Keep in mind that if you are traveling to Mexico, it’s likely that organized crime is active, so Barcelo knows that you are not going to start looking for another accommodation outside of the protective bubble of the all-inclusive when they demand whatever they want at check-in. I contacted Barcelo customer service line and was told to contact the Puerto Vallarta Hotel Manager and informed him the whole situation and that I would be disputing the charge. In writing, the manager promised me that Barcelo would not fight the credit card chargeback. Trusting his word, I thought the nightmare was over. I was wrong. In April, my bank informed me that the charges were being reinstated because Barcelo had fought the chargeback tooth and nail. When I emailed the hotel manager, he claimed they hadn't disputed anything. For weeks, I was trapped in a bureaucratic hell. I spent dozens of hours on multi-hour phone calls acting as a middleman between my bank and a dishonest hotel. The breakthrough came when my bank provided me with written proof: the actual rebuttal letter sent by Barcelo fighting for my money. The bank representative reading Barcelo's correspondence explained to me that the corporation was likely lying, their behavior was outrageous, and that I should seek legal counsel. Imagine a major American financial institution customer representative implying that a global hotel chain is so corrupt that they warrant legal action. When I presented this undeniable proof to the manager, he continued saying that they have not disputed the charge back and told me the issue was sent to their legal department. To me, this was a a textbook example of corporate brush-off. They hid behind a legal department overseas, fully aware that an individual consumer doesn't have the time or resources to sue a massive Spanish conglomerate in an American court. By April, I had accepted that I was scammed out of nearly $2,000 USD. Our family vacation plans were completely ruined. It was heartbreaking to look my family in the eye and tell them the trip we saved for was not happening because the money was gone, stolen by a huge, faceless corporation Then, out of nowhere on June 4th, the money was suddenly deposited back into my account. No explanation. No apology. Did their legal team realize what they were doing? Did an audit expose their fraud? I will never know. Barcelo held $2,000 of my money interest-free for six months, subjected me to endless hours of mental exhaustion, lied to my face, and ruined my family's vacation. They proved themselves to be either utterly incompetent or intentionally malicious. If you are a middle-class family looking to enjoy a safe, stress-free vacation, do not trust Barcelo. They will protect their bottom line at the expense of your peace of mind, your hard-earned savings, and your family's happiness. I am still waiting on a formal apology, but their silence speaks volumes.

I am being generous giving them 2 stars. Truthfully the second star is for the few smiling faces we were met with on our 1 week stay. The rooms are clean and the overall hotel is nice but for it being a “all inclusive resort” they truly lack on alot of things. After 11:30 there is no where to grab a quick snack everything shuts down. The food selection is very limited to mostly popular vallarta dishes. There at 3 additional restaurants that you must make a reservation for but they are first come for serve and they are closed on certain days. Secondly most of the staff is rude aren’t very helpful. You can relax by the adults only pool but you’ll have to wait for someone to walk by before you can get a drink or go to the other pool where the swim up bar is. They have an arcade room that you have to pay to use. 1 hour play on pool table will cost you $100 pesos. We had several waiters at the buffet that were great, as well as the waiter at the steak house.The late night shows are great!But most pleasant experience was getting off the resort into an uber and into the city. If you are looking to relax and enjoy yourself this wouldn’t never be my first choice.We wanted a change away from Cancun for our honey moon and unfortunately wasn’t great but we made the most of it!
