Barcelo Puerto Vallarta

I will preface this by saying in general we are not travelers who typically do the all-inclusive thing, but we have stayed at a handful in recent years and travel a fair amount. For what it’s worth, this particular hotel was hands down the worst we’ve been to. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The majority of the staff are hard working and pleasant, which makes this harder to write. We really appreciated the bell men! However, the food in the general buffet/restaurant and snack bar is terrible. My husband and I both got sick, as did many families we talked with at the pool. The last day they began giving hand sanitizer to every person as they entered the restaurant if that wasn’t telling. I stumbled on moldy bread twice and all of the yogurt and cereal were past their expiration dates throughout the entirety of the stay. Not the end of the world, but when you’re paying for a service, it’s disappointing to not receive a basic level of goods. Lots of menu items are on repeat between the two spaces. We were never able to snag a spot at any of the other restaurants they have on site, so I can’t speak to those, but it became apparent many of those seats are priority to the premier level customers. I understand a lot of this is fairly common at some of these places, but we’ve been lucky to have better experiences. The rooms themselves are fine, looking a little tired, but not terrible. This beach area also has had some issues in the last few months with high levels of bacteria in the water, but not so ironically no one mentions this. Just a heads up and many visitors were still enjoying the ocean. It is available to check on the Playa MX app though. We stayed elsewhere for the first half of our trip and had a wonderful time and continue to enjoy Mexico, but unfortunately this resort leaves much to be desired. Keep looking!

This is a great family resort, I would highly recommend it. Great for families of all ages. The hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly. We really appreciated all the daily activities and pool games. By reading the reviews before we booked a lot of folks have an issue with the food. It's not going to blow you away but for the most part it's very good. I'm not sure what people are expecting given the price point of the hotel? Lots of different options so finding something you like shouldn't be an issue unless you're an extremely picky eater. We stayed in a family premium room which was very spacious. Premium guarantees you will be on the top two floors (8 or 9). The premium lounge was nice, and we liked having the free minibar in the room. You can tell it's an older hotel but it's very well maintained and clean. The beds, pillows, linens and towels were all clean and comfortable. It's a bit of a drive from the airport (45 minutes) but only 15 minutes from downtown.

This was out first time visiting the Barcelo resort and we will be back! The location was perfect for our 3 families. The food options were good and had an excellent variety. Every room in the resort had a beautiful view of the water. We could not have asked for a better week away for Christmas!

Good All Inclusive Hotel for Families. The hotel rooms are spacious and have a nice view of the beach. Large swimming pools for the kids to enjoy. The bad side are the restaurants; they have limited food and drinks that one would consider of quality. The only decent restaurant is “La Fuente” with its breakfast menu. The other restaurants are of poor quality and service. One did not have the AC on, and the servers took forever to bring the food. I enjoy the time spent with the family, but I would look for other options next time I am in PV.

We just arrived today and have been greeted by Cesar in the preferred club who has been nothing but awesome. He has provided the best service and laughs for me and my family. I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of my vacation and meet the rest of the amazing staff here at Barcelo.
