Friendly staff, location was okay - wish we were closer to downtown. Food at restaurants was good, however buffets were just okay and got food poisoning.

It's hard to choose what we loved the most. The staff has to be at the TOP of the list. You cannot make a place like this work without amazing people. And they have a BUNCH!! From the poolside activity coordinators to the poolside servers, the buffet, everyone here works hard and long hours. We interacted daily with all of these beautiful people. Fernando, Maria, Anahi, Denise, Victor, Carlos, Moisie, Jaqueline, many in the buffet whose names I cannot remember, so many! But all of them, always smiling and always doing their very best to keep us and everyone else happy, fed, entertained, safe. etc. Many, many thanks to all of you. They are the ones who have made us enjoy our entire holiday, and they are the ones who have impressed us so much that we feel compelled to return for the next winter season for an even longer stay. Can't wait to be back. The food from the all areas in the hotel was more than pleasant. A TON of variety. Literally so much to choose from. Not everyone likes everything, but I find it would be very hard to NOT be happy with their offerings, both in the buffet and the specialty restaurants. We tried all of them and found many choices to enjoy. Some items were not always heated as much as we would like. And sometimes the meat was not as tender as it should be. Minor things to get past. They have a lot going on for a lot of people 3x a day. Not an easy task. The grounds are beautiful. Lots of trees, flowers, rock work. 4 big pools, 2 hot tubs, tons of room to lounge. An activity area for Mexican Lottery... I highly recommend! And many various kids events. Inside, we loved that the lobby is grand, very spacious and beautifully decorated. Plenty of room to walk if you want to incorporate some extra fitness. And we did, lol! Every night a different theme show in the theatre and sometimes special events i.e. Superbowl! Very enjoyable, our favorite is the Mexican show. Beach is beautiful, but small area for walking, collecting treasures.. we always enjoyed the view from the buffet area. A few people were having much luck fishing from the shore OR seeing whales. We liked that excursions can be booked from the beachside or inside at the Concierge. Went into the lobby shops but unfortunately a tad pricey. We loved our room, plenty of space to relax with a nice size balcony. The view though....wow! The bathroom had so much room which is a sometimes necessary bonus. Very comfy bed. Loved having the small fridge stocked with various items. And the double closets..... Thank you!!! Complete with 3 drawers in each side. SMART. So, all in all, it's all the big things and all the little things that we felt checked all the boxes. WELL DONE BARCELO AND STAFF. See you again, come next winter.

The hotel is old and in need of repair. The rooms are the same. They are large but worn out, with chips and gashes on all the furniture. The furnishings look like they came from the pages of an old 80's magazine, with worn-down cushions and lampshades hanging sideways. Most of the front-facing staff do not speak English. You can not get food at the pool. You must dress and go to the snack bar to eat. I suggest that you do lots of research before you book. I booked through American Express Travel, and this hotel was listed as 4.5 stars. It was anything but 4.5! Had I booked this hotel thinking it was a 2.5 or a 3-star hotel, I would have been much more prepared for the experience.

Just visited as a family of 5. The rooms were great to accommodate families. The resort itself is dated but still nice. Armando Perez was an amazing server at the Italian restaurant!!! He was very attentive accommodating for our young children and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy. The shining star of the whole resort is Carlos at the Barcy Kid’s Club! He is full of energy and life and makes friends with the kids. The kid’s club is very interactive and provides a variety of activities for kids throughout your stay. The beach was closed many of the days we were there because of the large waves and the water was not conducive to swimming at all while we were there. The kids pool with the water slide is very shallow and great for young kids just learning to swim. We spent lots of time there. Would have been great if the kids evening programming was from 6-7 instead of 7-8 so we didn’t have to squeeze dinner in from 6:30-7. A good resort for young families.
