Spreading across hectares dominated by a dramatic and dazzling, arid, rocky landscape, the Hotel Fasano Punta del Este combines private homes, hotel bungalows and other luxury amenities like spa, equestrian center, golf and polo fields and a 3-km beach stretch on the riverside of Arroyo Maldonado. The luxury hotel offers two sizes of accommodation, both of which offer private terraces, limestone bathrooms, and living quarters with sofas. Serenity is to feel all around the spa, built as a single-story concrete volume, where rooms are placed in the perimeter leaving an open indoor garden in the center of the building.

The property itself is beautiful and well maintained. Our bungalow, on the other hand, had a totally outdated feel. Chipped furniture, old fittings and a dated bathroom with a toilet that clogged three times during our stay and it was not easy to get them to fix it. For almost USD1000 a night, we were extremely disappointed!

The hotel is set within a vast estate, approximately 20 minutes from Punta. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped (coffee machine, minibar, glassware, Bluetooth sound system, etc.), featuring a large bed and exceptional bedding. The scenery is stunning, with beautiful sunsets enjoyed both from the bar and the outdoor pool. The property offers tennis courts, a spa, an excellent gym with Technogym equipment, an indoor pool, a soccer field, and a golf driving range. A special highlight is the availability of golf carts for guests, making it easy to move around the expansive property. The staff is consistently attentive and friendly. This is not a drawback, just a consideration: the hotel is located away from Punta’s city center and the beach. The restaurant is a Fasano; however, the execution of the dishes is slightly below that of other restaurants in the group. The terrace bar could indeed offer a broader selection of food options (currently limited to snacks, pizzas, and paninis) and perhaps a wider range of seafood dishes. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at—worth every penny! I would definitely return.

Beautiful property with great amenities, but a few misses. The equestrian center is a real highlight, and we loved the pool area and the pool restaurant/bar—great vibe and service. That said, we were surprised by the hotel transfer pricing: an evening ride to Punta del Este was $78 each way, which feels very high compared to local options (Uber is often closer to $30). For longer stays, breakfast (and lunch) could use more variety, and mosquitos were an issue on a few days, which made the outdoor areas less enjoyable.

I was at Fasano with my family and I had a terrible experience. I’m Brazilian and I’ve been attending the Fasano group for years. I was on vacation with my family in Punta. We chose to have dinner on the 1st at the Gero restaurant. I’ve never been so badly served: food took a long time, horrible meat point, a lot of noise in the restaurant, no adequate service. Nothing like what I know from Fasano. In addition, the next day I sent a message to talk about the corrido and only days were going to find out. Fasano lost a client of years. Disappointed.

The best of the best, we had the most wonderful experience staying at Fasano las Piedras. The service is outstanding, top of the line. Played tennis, swam, went to river club and had the best meals. I highly recommend this for anyone traveling to Punta del Este
