About the Hotel

Located in a building that, once upon a time, was head office for the National Bank of Canada, Hotel 71 is a stunning example of 19th century neo-classic architecture. The lobby is a welcome breath of modernity, with limestone walls and a walnut ceiling. The simple and elegant design glows in the sunlight that beams through the massive windows found in each room, some situated perfectly to offer views of the St. Lawrence and the city’s Old Port. All rooms are furnished with a spacious work desk, a DVD surround sound system and wireless internet access. The "Il Matto" Italian restaurant is consistently ranked amongst the best in the city.

Fantastic hotel in a great location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed for four nights in May 2026. The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to old Quebec City and the port, and at the foot of the new town. We had a one bedroom suite with lovely views of the river from the bedroom and living room (I never get tired of watching massive ships float by). The room was well laid out, comfortable and immaculately clean. The water pressure, wifi and all the fixtures and fittings were in great shape. It was a comfortable, spacious room and we really enjoyed it. The hotel itself also has a great restaurant and bar if you don't feel like venturing out. And the staff were friendly and helpful (without being pretentious). Overall, one of the best hotel experiences we've had and we would happily stay again.

5 Star

5 Star! The service was excellent and friendly. We enjoyed the lobby area and ordered take out from the attached restaurant and it was excellent. We also ordered Uber eats and eight in the lobby area, which has a lot of tables for leisure time. When the valet discovered that Uber eats messed up our order, he took it upon himself to order a dinner from the restaurant and have delivered to us. What service! I would like to acknowledge the valet “Said” for taking the initiative to provide personal service. Thank you! I would also like to acknowledge Angie and Roushan for their service.

The location was spectacular. The hotel is modern, comfortable and very clean. We loved the attention and hospitality of the receptionists Roushan and Angie. Special kudos go to Said who helped us with an uber delivery to make it right. Thank you Said!

Perfect Hotel to Explore Old Quebec

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed here several nights for a family vacation. We loved everything about this hotel. Our room was clean, spacious, had an espresso machine, and a much needed soaking tub. The room was on the second floor and was very quiet. Front staff were polite and helpful. We didn’t have any trouble driving in and using the valet service. We got the continental breakfast once, and it was a good spread (pastries, yogurt, cereals, fruit, boiled eggs, etc). The location was perfect to easily explore the Old Town and Petite Champlain. There were several great restaurants on the same street as well. It was a great value, and we would definitely stay here again.
