Located in a building that, once upon a time, was head office for the National Bank of Canada, Hotel 71 is a stunning example of 19th century neo-classic architecture. The lobby is a welcome breath of modernity, with limestone walls and a walnut ceiling. The simple and elegant design glows in the sunlight that beams through the massive windows found in each room, some situated perfectly to offer views of the St. Lawrence and the city’s Old Port. All rooms are furnished with a spacious work desk, a DVD surround sound system and wireless internet access. The "Il Matto" Italian restaurant is consistently ranked amongst the best in the city.

What a lovely stay! For our third visit to Quebec City we chose hotel 71. We stayed four nights, and were extremely happy with our choice. Rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean. Bed and bedding was luxurious. Location is simply the best. So scenic and so close to everything. Highlight for us though was the staff. I am retired, and travelled for a living, and you simply don’t come across such a courteous, and genuinely friendly and helpful team. Fred at the front desk gets special mention. Warm and friendly greeting every morning, and always wanting to help. It always comes down to the people that make a difference. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at hotel 71. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. The room was very clean and we had awesome views of the river from our windows on the top floor. The location is perfect and walking distance to all the best parts of the old city.

My wife and I traveled from Maine to visit Quebec City for the first time for a vacation. We desired a boutique hotel in the Old Port and noticed there were many to choose from. Hotel 71 was perfect for us and our 9 year old daughter. We felt safe, comfortable, and quite content staying at this lovely and unique hotel for our 7 day vacation. It's located in the heart of the Old Port close to cafes, restaurants, art galleries, and shops. Our spacious room had two lounge chairs, a nice desk, and a very comfortable king bed. The bathroom featured a large bathtub and separate shower. There was free wi-fi, a small refrigerator, two bathrobes, a nice large screen TV, and beautiful wood floors complimented with high ceilings and gorgeous windows with views of the city. We were greeted with a treat upon entering our room (several macarons) - a nice touch! Breakfast was complimentary and there was more than enough selection to make our family happy for a continental breakfast (croissants, muffins, eggs, breakfast sandwiches, coffee/juices/espresso/cappuccino, fresh cut fruits/blueberries/stawberries, cereals, cheeses/meats). We had booked reservation at various local restaurants for brunch each day but ended up cancelling b/c we enjoyed the Hotel's breakfast and found the selections to be healthier. We are an active family and used the fitness room daily. It was small but had free weights, two treadmills, a weight bench, and a few other weight machines to use. There was also a wine dispensary in the lobby which was a nice touch (which we used often and they gave use two free wines on the house!). The lobby had several nice lounge areas to relax in including one with a fireplace. Valet parking was offered which we utilized only once as we found a parking lot two blocks away that was a little less expensive so we used that instead. Overall, we had a lovely experience at this hotel and will stay there again for future vacations to Quebec City - we hope to return in the summer! Hotel 71 offers a unique and exceptional value compared to surrounding properties. We recommend it to anyone visiting Quebec City!

Really nice. Very much enjoyed our visit. Great facility (original structure, hotel design, and furnishings), location, valet, front desk and room staff, restaurant - all very well done and friendly.

Hotel and Staff exceeded expectations. If you would like to experience Quebec in one of the most historic areas within Quebec this is your hotel. There is nothing I would recommend changing.
