Located in a building that, once upon a time, was head office for the National Bank of Canada, Hotel 71 is a stunning example of 19th century neo-classic architecture. The lobby is a welcome breath of modernity, with limestone walls and a walnut ceiling. The simple and elegant design glows in the sunlight that beams through the massive windows found in each room, some situated perfectly to offer views of the St. Lawrence and the city’s Old Port. All rooms are furnished with a spacious work desk, a DVD surround sound system and wireless internet access. The "Il Matto" Italian restaurant is consistently ranked amongst the best in the city.

This was our second stay at Hotel 71 and we specifically chose this hotel based on our fond memories from our original stay. The hotel is centrally located in the historic Old Quebec City and are steps away from many sites and restaurants. The rooms are spacious, which is nice after a full day of walking around exploring the city. The coffee and tea available to guests in the lobby was wonderful for the chilly days. There is a small gym with a handful of machines, sufficient for a basic workout.

Our stay at 71 Hotel was fantastic. The comfort and location of the hotel and service was amazing. I appreciated the complementary coffee and lounge areas in the lobby. Thank you to Pierre-Antoine for his smile and recommendations. He was exceptional in his customer service and we appreciated his friendliness and will return to this hotel. :)

The hotel is a nice choice if you want a modern design hotel in a historic building thats located in the center of it all. The lobby and grounds were all comfortable, good use of social spaces and the espresso bar is great in the cold weather. Nice place to grab a coffee and relax. The room was just as advertised, good layout, nice amenities, and worth the price tag. Seems like rooms ending in *29 or *30 have good views of city. Staff really made the hotel good, checkout (at 3am for an early flight) was easy and pleasant and check in was super friendly and room was ready right at 4pm. The only small quirk was the internet was terrible (password didn't work for anyone, tech came out, then it dropped every 5 minutes for a couple days on computer but phone connected fine), which isn't a big deal, but made checking in for flights etc a phone based option only. If you want a nice central location with comfort and 4* feel this is a wonderful choice.
