About the Hotel

Located in a building that, once upon a time, was head office for the National Bank of Canada, Hotel 71 is a stunning example of 19th century neo-classic architecture. The lobby is a welcome breath of modernity, with limestone walls and a walnut ceiling. The simple and elegant design glows in the sunlight that beams through the massive windows found in each room, some situated perfectly to offer views of the St. Lawrence and the city’s Old Port. All rooms are furnished with a spacious work desk, a DVD surround sound system and wireless internet access. The "Il Matto" Italian restaurant is consistently ranked amongst the best in the city.

Reviews for Hotel 71

A stylish, well-established hotel located in the heart of the Old City of Quebec.

From the moment we checked into Hotel 71, we experienced welcoming, professional attention. Roushan, the Reception Manager, provided us with information (and bookings) for nearby restaurants, a recommendation for a charming walking-tour guide of the old city as well as maps and must-see sights. In fact all the staff were kind and helpful. The hotel’s location is perfect - close to cafes, restaurants, galleries, the shopping precinct as well the waterfront area for river cruises. The rooms are large, stylish and quiet with great showers, luxury products and big fluffy towels as well as very comfortable beds. Views from the huge windows kept us in touch with our historical locality. We loved the well-designed, expansive reception areas with comfortable lounges, books and magazines. The self-serve bar with a great choice of wines and spirits was a new and welcome experience for us when we returned from our daily sight-seeing and shopping. Highly recommended.

This was my first visit to Quebec City and I couldn’t have hoped for a better introduction. I found it to be a great location to venture out from. Right from the start I was received with a warm welcome, my room was great, stylish, clean and very comfortable. Every member of staff I met were friendly and professional.

Anniversary Magic

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Anniversary Magic Our experience with the staff at the hotel began way before we even arrived. We booked our room through an online booking service but when we decided to change our dates, they were unable to make the change without much complications. It was the last room advertised so I was worried canceling the whole reservation would be a problem so I called the hotel and they promptly fixed the issue, allowing me to hold the room, rebook and even provided a small discount. When we checked in early they made sure that the room that had the “better view” was the one we got which took another hour of preparations. They called us while we were out at lunch and we returned a bit later only to find they had set up our room with sparkling wine, chilled, truffles and a hand written note celebrating our 20th anniversary. Something I had noted on the call the very first time. The room was lovely, the view spectacular and the staff consistently wonderful. We would recommend this hotel to all!

We have spent 2 nights with the family at this wonderful place. From the minute we arrived we felt the warm welcome and the exciting vibe in this beautiful boutique hotel. Make sure to make a reservation in the Matto restaurant!

Wonderful Hotel, conveniently located. Very satisfied with our visit, friendly efficient staff, worked to facilitate early entry to room and also a request for delayed departure.
