Located in a building that, once upon a time, was head office for the National Bank of Canada, Hotel 71 is a stunning example of 19th century neo-classic architecture. The lobby is a welcome breath of modernity, with limestone walls and a walnut ceiling. The simple and elegant design glows in the sunlight that beams through the massive windows found in each room, some situated perfectly to offer views of the St. Lawrence and the city’s Old Port. All rooms are furnished with a spacious work desk, a DVD surround sound system and wireless internet access. The "Il Matto" Italian restaurant is consistently ranked amongst the best in the city.

This hotel is a gem. Tucked away in the old town, quiet, elegant, and sort of unassuming. The room was so lovely. Quiet with high ceilings and plenty of room to store your belongings. The bath products and design of the bathroom was great. Service was stellar. Always provided with warmth and kindness. I forgot to mention prior to arrival that I have a feather allergy and then neglected to mention it until late the following day. No problem! We went to dinner and the room was completely made feather free while we were out. The location of the hotel is also excellent. We will happily return and highly recommend.

Such a great place to stay after our cruise! The front desk, bellman, spacious rooms location and common areas were well above average. I would highly recommend it to travelers. Delicious complimentary coffee, a beautiful, spacious bathroom with a soaking tub was very much appreciated after my cruise and it’s lack there of.

We came here at the end of September. Girl who checked us in was very nice! Unfortunately, that was the only time we saw her and then had to deal with the other staff who did nothing and were unfriendly. I also asked for a room NOT near an elevator and what did they give us?? The first room closest to the elevator! Our toilet clogged up the first full day we were there. We had to ask 3 times to send someone up to look at it! The first two days we'd go out in the morning then come back in the afternoon to relax a bit and freshen up. Well, the first day, which also happened to be our anniversary, we came back late in the afternoon, and the room was not cleaned yet! We had to get ready for dinner. We just got new towels. Second day, same thing happened. Came back and I was exhausted and wanted to rest and they didn't clean the room yet. Apparently, you have to tell them if you want your room cleaned early which we found out then. So if you stay here and want your room cleaned, you have to tell them. Room is very small. I saw a room down the hall which was bigger, but the nasty girl at the front desk said we couldn't change. Said she couldn't do anything. Not enough electrical plugs in the room either. The bed is very uncomfortable. Luckily we brought our own pillows so I can't say about the pillows. Breakfast is very pricey for what you get! No hot foods whatsoever!! I loved the location. We walked everywhere! I wouldn't stay here again if I came back to Quebec.

Located at the lower part of Old Quebec, this is an excellent hotel situated near everything you need to see, visit, eat and drink. Service is friendly and helpful. Valet parking a must. Parking there is at a premium and expensive. Our suite (330) was an actual suite, not just a large room, with a great bed, assortment of pillows, two large TVs, Nespresso machine, small fridge and sofa-bed. 18 feet? ceilings, splendid bathroom with a large tub and rain shower. The few cons were: no welcome water bottles (seems to be common now); robes not of my liking (just give me old fashioned fluffy white ones); and no slippers. Overall, a perfect choice for a beautiful city.

From the moment we checked into Hotel 71, we experienced welcoming, professional attention. Roushan, the Reception Manager, provided us with information (and bookings) for nearby restaurants, a recommendation for a charming walking-tour guide of the old city as well as maps and must-see sights. In fact all the staff were kind and helpful. The hotel’s location is perfect - close to cafes, restaurants, galleries, the shopping precinct as well the waterfront area for river cruises. The rooms are large, stylish and quiet with great showers, luxury products and big fluffy towels as well as very comfortable beds. Views from the huge windows kept us in touch with our historical locality. We loved the well-designed, expansive reception areas with comfortable lounges, books and magazines. The self-serve bar with a great choice of wines and spirits was a new and welcome experience for us when we returned from our daily sight-seeing and shopping. Highly recommended.
