About the Hotel

Located in a building that, once upon a time, was head office for the National Bank of Canada, Hotel 71 is a stunning example of 19th century neo-classic architecture. The lobby is a welcome breath of modernity, with limestone walls and a walnut ceiling. The simple and elegant design glows in the sunlight that beams through the massive windows found in each room, some situated perfectly to offer views of the St. Lawrence and the city’s Old Port. All rooms are furnished with a spacious work desk, a DVD surround sound system and wireless internet access. The "Il Matto" Italian restaurant is consistently ranked amongst the best in the city.

Reviews for Hotel 71

Will return in September

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

From the moment we drove up Pierre was there to greet us. From luggage to friendly banter with us, made me immediately feel comfortable. It was a long drive from Connecticut. That was welcomed. A friendly greeting. Check in was flawless especially since I forgot some important papers. I mailed for them and your staff especially Pierre made sure to give me updates. Package was delivered and your staff delivered to my room. Location was perfect. Within walking distance to everywhere. One night we took uber to restaurant which was around $ 12 us. Cheap. Wife wants to return in September and stay at hotel 71.

Service driven hotel, beautiful room, good location!

Enjoyed our 2 night stay here. We were here for the Winter Carnival so did not spend too much time at the hotel. Room was very comfortable, and definitely at the 4 star level with tall ceilings, nice view and most importantly comfortable bed. Washroom was a reasonable size with an amazing rainfall shower. The front desk, concierge and valet service was on point as we utilized these. A special mention to the valet who was very friendly and service oriented. We also ate at the Italian restaurant on site, and liked the food a lot. Will definitely consider coming back here next time we are in Quebec City.

Perfect Location

Ideal location to explore Le Petit Champlain neighborhood - a 5 minute walk away. Rooms are modern and polished. Self-service wine bar in the lobby is a nice touch. Hotel did a wonderful job accommodating our preferred view of the river. My one complaint was that when we arrived, the porter was somehow absent, so we had to carry our own bags in from the snow. The clerk at the desk didn't make any effort to find him or assist us, which seems odd for a 4-star property. A little while later the porter returned, but by then our bags were already in the lobby. Overall still a wonderful property and I would definitely stay here again when I am back in Quebec City.

Fantastic Boutique Hotel

We stayed at Hotel 71 for three nights. We were pleased with the customer service from the moment we arrived. Check in was quick and easy and we loved our cozy room. Bed was comfortable, a gorgeous view and the bathroom was spacious with fantastic robes too! Oh, the shower was so nice! We loved the coffee available anytime- the coffee machine offered every type of specialty coffee that one would like. The lobby had several quiet and comfortable locations to sit and relax on plush sofas and chairs. We had breakfast every morning and we were pleased with the food option and the service. We also ate dinner in the same location one evening. The room is used as overflow from the main Hotel restaurant. I also enjoyed the gym. Highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Chic and comfortable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Very nice boutique hotel. Our superior room was large and comfortable, with a nice view of the river, great linens and bathrobes, a large bathroom with tub and separate stall shower. Nice pillows--not overly soft, like most hotels. Decor in rooms is spartan chic. Hardwood floors, yay! Was excited to see they have TV casting (why is this so rare in hotels?), but could not get it to work. Concluded you can't use American accounts in Canada as my Hulu account said none of my shows were available for viewing. Not a big deal, didn't go to QC to watch TV. Lobby areas were very attractive and comfortable. It's a hike from the harbor area to the main town up above, but that's the nature of QC. On the upside, very quiet here at night.
