Amazing boutique hotel

What a special and spectacular place to stay. Amazing service and beautiful decor that is unique, luxurious and extremely comfortable. Views that are just brilliant and then the canapes, drinks and breakfast that are delicious. Truly highly recommend staying here.

Hulbert House is a gem. It’s stunning views, convenient location, staff and service that was warm and genuine. My wife surprised me for my 60th birthday, 4 enjoyable nights, drinks and canapés each evening,,, fresh tasty produce for breakfast. Special thanks to Laura, Jay, Chris, Alisa, you guys made our stay memorable,, thank you all for your kindness and the true meaning of service. We will be back, next time with more friends and stay longer.

Absolutely gorgeous.

This small boutique hotel is a gorgeous historical gem nestled in beautiful gardens. The bedrooms are dreamy and the main shared lounge area should be in an interior design magazine. The whole property has been decorated with admirable taste and there are amazing little touches everywhere, from the fully operational cast-iron water heaters to the little amenities dish shaped like a silver rose, to the Japanese porcelain vases on the mantlepieces. The best thing, however, was the staff. It's a small team, but every single person went out of their way to be welcoming, warm and helpful. We felt so nurtured, so well cared for, that we could hardly bring ourselves to leave. We hope to return again soon - what a gorgeous experience.

Hulbert House - A Victorian Hotel with Immense Hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

We travelled the North & South islands of New Zealand for 20 days staying in unique, diverse, quality lodgings. Hulbert House was our favourite sojourn, hands down. This lovely villa has seen many transformations over its 100 plus years. Now as a boutique hotel with its custom broadloom and English wallpaper, it offers luxury and elegance. Tav warmly welcomed us and gave us an overview of the boutique hotel and Queenstown. Our room, on the ground floor with spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains, had a comfortable king bed with quality linens, a wardrobe, desk, mini fridge, kettle, a selection of teas, a plunger coffee maker, coffee beans replenished daily and a coffee grinder. A beautiful soaker tub (and shower) completed the ensuite bathroom. But more than the furniture and fixings, we enjoyed the hospitality of Tav, Chris and Jay and the entire team, the nightly drinks and canapés (where we had lively conversations with fellow guests) and the superb breakfasts. Hulbert House will without question, be our most memorable stay in beautiful New Zealand. Thank you for your masterful hospitality!

Stunning boutique property

This beautiful and intimate boutique hotel was the highlight of our New Zealand trip. Every one of the staff are exceptional and make you feel both like royalty and family. The rooms are beautifully appointed with every comfort you need. The beds were so comfortable. The staff went out of their way to help us plan meals and excursions and anything we needed. I hope to come back one day and experience this exceptional property again. Jay and Chris were so helpful during our time and we were so grateful for all of their accommodations.
