Reviews for Coronet Ridge Resort

Overall good stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed April 13, 2024

Views were amazing totally worth paying extra for the view, Pretty impressed with everything at nugget point definitely mixed reviews on it so was a little skeptical - I do agree the building is a bit tired and in need of maintenance cleaning probably could be a little better in areas but minor things over all was clean and tidy, the staff and facilities were great and the pool is well worth it. Steam room wasn’t working for our stay and we didn’t eat in the restaurant at all.

Glad we stayed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed February 3, 2024

There are so many mixed reviews for this hotel. Yes, it’s older and has seen better days but the rooms are clean and partially renovated with new bathrooms and heating systems. The beds are comfortable and we found the hotel peaceful. I can only imagine what it must have looked like in its heyday. What this hotel does have going for it are the most amazing views, make sure to get a river view room. The dining room also overlooks the river valley, very beautiful. The chef has put together a very nice menu featuring local items and well priced. The true asset to this hotel are its staff. The check in team were welcoming and the two Spanish restaurant staff were exceptional in their kindness and hospitality. We can’t thank the two of them enough for making our stay so special. We recommend this hotel.

Great stay

Just had a great weekend at Nugget Point, apparently it is under new management, food was great, really good facilities, staff super friendly and helpful. Great quiet location to relax, restaurants near by. Wish the new management all the best. The spa lady was great and so were the spa pools, pool and steam room.

Tired, dated facilities with minimal guest services available

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed May 15, 2023

I am currently staying here and the room was booked on my behalf as part of a conference. I would not stay here if I had a choice. The hotel and the grounds are very tired and in serious need of an upgrade. Arrived earlier than check-in time and could not eat at the restaurant as it was closed (seems like it's been closed for quite some time). Was told I could use the facilities while waiting for my room, but the spa pool was out of order, the sauna was out of order, and the gym was pretty dark and uninviting. There were two functional private spa pools that were not in use, and I asked if they could be made available for use instead of their usual public one. Was told that they would let me use it for a "discounted rate" of $99 for one hour. If they had any decent customer service, they should have made one of them available to compensate for their facilities which were mostly out of order. Was also told that if I wanted to use the room before the 3pm check-in, I would have to pay $40. Again pretty poor when most hotels would let you use the room early if it was available within 1-2h of check-in time. Finally got to the room and although it looked tidy, the bathroom still had a stench and the room just had a stale smell - not sure if it's a mouldy carpet smell. I am here for work so wifi is important. Unfortunately the wifi signal in the room was also terrible and keeps cutting out, so have to go to the reception area to get a good internet connection. The only thing going for this hotel is the amazing view of the river. This is supposed to be 4-star but I have stayed in plenty of 3-star places and this is pretty bad even for a 3-star. Do not stay here if you can help it. Plenty of other options in Queenstown or even across the road.

Dissapointed

There were unfortunately a number of issues that came up during my stay which regrettably made my experience below acceptable of a four star standard. No shampoo, milk, toiletries in the rooms Bar & Restuarant, only operational for coffee at breakfast (not open for lunch or dinner) Gym equipment, treadmill does not work Spa tub - was out of order Steam room - was out of order Gas fireplace - out of order Fireplace in lobby and restaurant - not operational No shampoo, milk, toiletries in the rooms No mini bar No room service

What a magnificent place to stay! Not only beautiful inside in an exquisite setting, it had the most friendly & accommodating staff that just weren't happy unless we were. Thanks for going to all the effort to see that we had a great time in Queenstown.
