Disappointing. The Sagecliff resort is run down and poorly maintained. Service is poor. Nuf said.

I stayed at this resort for a couple nights in the last few weeks. I do not think this is a luxury property. Perhaps for the region it is in, but not generally. When we arrived our reservation had apparently been screwed up, and we were "upgraded" to a condo. These are small, standalone buildings about a fifteen minute walk from the main resort. There are no dedicated walking paths, so you would have to walk along the property roads, which are extremely narrow as it is. They do have golf carts you can call from the front desk apparently (the front desk did not provide this information at check in), but I didn't bother. We just ended up driving back and forth. The condo building we were in was clearly poorly constructed. Cheap materials and many issues like flickering lights, a missing light cover, a faucet that wobbled severely whenever you used it, water damage to base boards, cracks in sheets rock around the windows, etc. Beds are low, but comfortable. Lots of pillows. The lights on the bed didn't work and came with instructions on how if you wanted to use them you apparently had to find the cord under the bed and plug it in? I didn't bother. It was a studio setup with the bed placed in a sort of alcove area that could be shut with sliding closet doors. Condo had a fridge, microwave, kettle, stove top, and kitchen utensils. It was clean. There were real estate signs in the window and stuffed in various places in the unit (I think they're privately owned and rented out via the resort?). There were rows of closets at the entrance, mostly full of cleaning supplies, etc. The view was ok. I was right next to the vineyard, and there is a lot of construction with backhoes and other vehicles driving around out there, etc. Floor to ceiling windows are a double edged sword as they provide a nice view, they also don't provide much privacy. Particularly for the first row of units, where anyone walking out of lower units will be looking right in your windows. I am not holding this against them, as they're right by the concert venue, but it was SO loud. Even on the opposite end of the resort. If you are looking for peace and quiet, or to have business meetings here - check the schedule. The cost here seems to vary a lot. Apparently the weekend we were there the cost was about $1400 per night (we didn't have to pay ourselves, but that's what I recall being told it was). There was an event that weekend. Online it says it may be significantly cheaper other times of the year. I will simply say it wasn't worth anywhere near $1400 a night. Not even $500 frankly. The food was three stars. I want to be fair and say that I was told they had one chef working and she seemed nice and to be doing her best. In the end this, this resort demands high prices simply by being the best accommodation in the area for miles and being near a popular, remote venue. Supply and demand. As far as service, food, property upkeep and construction, etc. Our experience wasn't bad, it was perfectly fine. Just not luxury and not worth the peak prices in my opinion. It is just positioned as the best place for miles to stay unless and you want to camp because, well...it is.

The resort is set in an impressive location but many things in it are tired. The pool area is unloved with an overgrown garden, lights down the road to the pool are broken, the restaurant outside area needs a good sweep and tidy up....all in all the place looks sad. The staff were efficient and personable. I had to ask for another wine glass and some cutlery for the room, the shower cubicle area had blown plaster, the immaculate kitchen (I think newly fitted?) was smart but there were no instructions for the oven/microwave. Also you had enough cupboards that would be at home in flat....why as they were all empty? I felt I was underwhelmed by the resort as some clients drank cans of booze in the pool and generally seemed to treat the place like a down market cruise ship. The bed was comfortable, the room clean and the place peaceful......but it left me wishing for more. A shame.....

We celebrated our elopement reception and wedding anniversary at our favorite festival, staying in the Cavern Rooms. We used the event banquet for our reception. AMAZING catering services from Sarah and kitchen crew - they went above and beyond. My absolute recommendation for all brides--to-be. If you want a stress-free event, call Juni at Sagecliffe!

Stayed for an event at the Gorge and would not recommend. Place is overpriced and the staff are incredibly unprofessional and incompetent
