The opulence and beauty of Italy's storied past is told within the walls of Sicily's Antica Badia Relais Hotel. Borrowing its name from the Italian phrase meaning "ancient abbey", Antica Badia pays homage to the region's history in eloquent detail, from the soaring Roman arches over entryways to the perfectly preserved 18th century ceramic flooring. Masterfully redesigned and recently reopened, historians and international jet-setters alike will find the perfect vacation destination in the richness and classic style of Antica Badia Relais Hotel. Boasting just twelve expansive rooms and suites, each space is uniquely designed and thoughtfully appointed, offering every guest a piece of history. The finest Italian textiles drape the arched windows that draw abundant natural light into the airy, spacious rooms. Simple and sophisticated in design, plush custom furnishings and elegant details like vaulted ceilings add character to the traditional beauty of each room, while an attentive, yet unobtrusive staff exceeds your every expectation with turndown service, in-room dining, and 24-hour concierge service.

Good option if you need to stay in Ragusa and your primary interest is not Ragusa Ibla. The hotel is housed in a former baronial mansión which has been refurbished mixing stately piano nobile salons with modern areas of doubtful taste. We had a junior open plan suite, ample in size with a very nice big bathroom. AC could have been stronger. WIFI works well. Breakfast is served in a grand piano nobile stately room very ornate. The buffet breakfast is average. Staff at reception is very kind and atentive. If your interest is Ragusa Ibla, be aware the two city áreas are 25 minutes walking away from the hotel and are at a very considerable difference of level, which you will have to surpass with stairs.

I always start with the positives… The staff were first class and couldn’t do enough for us. They have a WhatsApp system which they respond to immediately, accommodating our every request. We hired a car and were given free parking in a car park nearby. We had a junior suite which was woefully inadequate for a 5 star. There was a balcony but not much of a view. Housekeeping had to , à la Faulty Towers… Bring in an extra trolley for the bathroom as the space was inadequate for toiletries, a magnifying mirror, as none was provided, extra coat hangers , and a trolley for extra clothes… I know we don’t travel lightly, but there is no point in having a chaise longue if there isn’t enough cupboard or drawer space. The floor in the shower was very slippery too. The coffee maker… Yes, I was familiar with the make, did not provide hot coffee, no matter what we did. Again the staff at breakfast were first rate, but the choice and freshness of cereal was below par. When we booked we didn’t realise that hot food was at an additional charge, which they kindly waivered. We had little choice but to use the lift to our room. We did eventually find a circuitous route through the dining room, if we wanted to use the stairs. There was no bar with comfortable seating area which was a shame. The wallpaper was peeling off the ceiling in the breakfast room. The majority of hotels we stay in are 5 star. They do vary from country to country , but here we experienced some of the best customer service, but the raw material they had to work with, just wasn’t up to standard. This could be a really good hotel. We had little notice but

We chose this hotel for our wedding, and it was the best decision we could have made. The staff's attention to detail was extraordinary, with every element of our celebration handled with precision and care, from the planning stages all the way through the big day. Nothing was missed, and nothing was left to chance. With family and friends traveling in from around the world, we had plenty of moving pieces and the occasional concern. The staff addressed every question properly and promptly, making all of our guests feel genuinely at home. Many of them are still talking about how welcoming the team was. The level of accommodation and customer service was top notch, and the overall experience was nothing short of exceptional. If you're looking for a first-class experience, whether for a wedding, a special event, or a getaway, we wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. Five stars, without hesitation.

We enjoyed our three nights stay here in Ragusa. Honestly, we were surprised at how quiet it is - seems to be less touristy than the other areas of Italy that we visited. The hotel itself is across from a beautiful church and definitely visit the Cafe Italia across the street for small bites. The rooms were large, breakfast was good, front desk staff were very helpful when asked about places to visit in the area. We walked down the bottom of the street and came upon a wonderful little area on the stairs overlooking Ragusa Ibla which is not to be missed. You can place an order for food (little stuffed bites, nuts, popcorn, sliced bread, bottle of wine, other drinks) sit on the stairs. They will bring you a wine box, napkins, pillows to sit on. The best authentic experience! If you are looking for the actual name "Al Gradino 284" Coffee & Wine Bar!

Very nice hotel in a beautiful building. Our room was quite spacious and it had ceilings at least 12 feet in height. For a small hotel, the breakfast was fantastic and set up in a gorgeous room. And the entire staff was very nice.
