The Westin Mission Hills Resort Villas, Palm Springs

Westin, as a brand, fits near the top of Marriott’s brand hierarchy — supposedly offering “elevated” dining and other stay amenities. As 4-star properties, Westins also expected to be high end and rich in guest services and amenities. Most other Westin timeshare properties check all of those boxes. This Westin has virtually none. It’s a really nice Residence Inn. Not a Westin resort. Food is limited to one pool bar, open very limited hours. As a timeshare condo property, you’d expect a robust on-site market (like other Westin timeshare properties offer). Here, the market is laughable — with less on offer than a vending machine. Some bags of Doritos, 6 beers, some ice cream sandwiches, and 3 frozen microwaveable meals. There’s a nice pool. And an expansive lobby building that feels sad and underutilized. What’s really odd is that this property used to act as the ‘timeshare villa’ sibling to the much larger (and amenity-rich) Westin hotel next door. But they appear to have severed ties, and even gone so far as to censor out the existence of the hotel property and its amenities. That hotel has a wonderful full-service restaurant, a bar, a great coffee stand, a nice resort shop, and great golf amenities. But the villa front desk doesn’t even mention the hotel. Even when I checked in very hungry at 8pm and asked about food options. The “Walkway to hotel” directional signs across the villa property have all been redacted in some weird attempt to keep the hotel a secret. And the walkway to the hotel has even been removed from the property map provided at check-in … as though it’s not even there. Fortunately the hotel pathway does remain. From my timeshare villa room, the hotel was the same walking distance as the villa “clubhouse” aka lobby. So I went, and enjoyed the hotel food options. Early morning Starbucks at the hotel coffee shop was lovely. The bar and restaurant were great in the evening. Having them all a stone’s throw from my room at the villas was awesome. So why on earth do the Villa timeshare people keep it a secret? Until they make some changes here, in my mind it’s the nicest “Residence Inn” I’ve stayed at. It’s not really worthy of the Westin brand, and the only thing that makes it resort-like is a pool.

Outstanding service and amenities. Comfortable and spacious suite at a very affordable price. Excellent staff: Josue at the Reception Desk, Sam and Hannah in Lobby, Nellie in the Alois Cafe. Only drawback: malfunctioning balcony doors and deadbolt. Prompt service for repair, but problem continued. Otherwise: OUTSTANDING experience.

My family and I stayed here for one night from May 2-3 to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We arrived at the hotel at around 2 PM and were able to check in a bit early. We were given a room close to the pool on the second floor. Our front desk agent Jenna asked what we were in town for and when we told her that it was my daughter's birthday trip she took note and told us that something might be arriving for to our room later that day - and when we got back from the pool that evening there was a incredibly sweet note wishing my daughter a happy birthday along with a container of delicious gummy bears. It really made my daughter's day!!! The pool area was really nice and my girls loved the water slide and the secluded hot tub. It was a 100 degree weekend and the pool was the perfect temp - not freezing but refreshingly cool. We didn't do anything else at the hotel other than swim as it was 2-5 pm in the pool, then dinner, then 7-9:30 pm back in the pool. One of the hidden surprises at the hotel for us was the washer/dryer in the room so when the girls were done swimming we were able to wash all the chlorine out and not have to deal with the pool smell when packing up to leave. A huge bonus. We really enjoyed having a separate bedroom and a pull out couch in the living room along with 2 televisions so the adults weren't stuck watching Spongebob the entire time. We were just there for one night so we couldn't take advantage of the full kitchen but it was nice to have the refrigerator. The bathroom area was large as well as the patio. Plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 children. We had a great experience and we look forward to returning and spending a few extra days next time!

This suites hotel is fine, but dated. The rooms are small and could use a refresh. The patios were large and comfortable. The property has two pools, which ducks visit for a swim. The onsite restaurant has a very limited menu and was only open a few hours a day. The gym was tiny and hot, I didn’t feel A/C in there. Overall, there were no issues, it’s just that the hotel didn’t distinguish itself in any way.

1 Bedroom Apartment We have stayed for 4 nights in March 2025 using some Marriott Vacation Club points. The room was very comfortable, clean and had all the amenities we needed for this stay. We were on a trip from Australia and things like a washing machine and dryer in the apartment was so handy. Costco, Walmart and etc are 5 min drive down the road, which was handy, as we could stock up on supplies and having a full kitchen, we could cook dinner at the apartment. Which helped with trip costs and it helps to just chill in the calm surroundings. Great location and rooms, overall could not fault the stay. Yes, it is a Marriott Vacation location, so there will be the approach to attend a vacation sale presentation at check-in, which you can decline and we did and they left us to enjoy our time, but if you do attend, there will cover your time via a pre-paid visa.
