Elegant Setting, Exceptional Dining, and Warm Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

From the moment we arrived at The Marlborough, we felt genuinely welcomed. Lauren greeted us warmly, setting the tone for the stay. As we arrived early, we had lunch at the Harvest Restaurant, which turned out to be a wonderful introduction to the property. Afterward, Macy showed us to our room, which was incredibly spacious and beautifully appointed—even the bathroom felt luxurious. I especially appreciated the small touches, like the fragrant candle and matches, which gave the room a lovely scent. Dining was a highlight throughout our stay. The food was consistently excellent—from the homemade bread and butter to the appetizers, main courses (we especially loved the lamb shoulder), and creative desserts. The service was equally impressive, with a friendly and attentive international team that made every meal feel special. We also enjoyed a tour of the grounds and had the pleasure of meeting Santiago, who oversees the garden that supplies many of the restaurant’s ingredients. His tour added another layer of appreciation for the freshness and quality of the food. The Marlborough is a beautiful and relaxing retreat in wine country—an elegant place where you feel both pampered and completely at ease.

Quint gem!

The moment we arrived the staff spoiled us. Macie and her team were very attentive to our requests. This former convent has been turned into a quint ten room hotel with its beautiful gardens and winery. Loved taking a walk in the vegetable garden where they grow so many different varieties of vegetables which then is served on your table. Loved happy hour in the chapel where very special wine and cocktails were served with delish canapés to accompany the drinks. Loved every moment of our time spent there. Highly recommended one will not be disappointed.

From The moment we arrived we were enveloped by the warmth and professionalism of fhe staff. This hotel does everything right . The staff are well trained to greet guests by name and take a genuine interest in your activities for the day. They can’t do enough for you. The hotel itself is lovely warm and inviting the grounds are beautiful the dinners are excellent the room is very comfortable. Wine and snacks are left for you. Pre dinner drinks are served with lovely canapés where you can chat with other guests . Kudos goes to Macey the hotel manager who is extremely warm and engaging and at the top of her game. She managed to know our comings and going’s and room. Genuine interest in us. Also big kudos to her assistant vio who made sure to greet us when we came back for Daily activities. Also huge thanks to sundae Neal and Raul in the had eat restaurant who made us feel welcome every meal and despite their busy schedule managed to get time with us. This hotel is the epitome of excellence

A wonderful location in the Marborough winemaking district

The Marlborough is a wonderful resort. With only 10 or so rooms you’re guaranteed peace and quiet while being pampered by the ever attentive staff. Located in the Marborough wine region you are close to some world class wineries, including dog point vineyards, and cloudy bay vineyards. The food at the Marlboro was wonderful as was their wine list. They have walking trails throughout the entire property and Vineyards on the property from which they make their wine.

Absolutely incredible lunch.

We visited today for lunch as part of an excursion from our Azamara Cruise, which had docked in Picton. Following a day which included lovely wine tastings our visit to this property was for lunch and wine and it absolutely capped the day for us. The grounds are stunning even on a rainy day which we experienced. The restaurant is beautiful and very inviting and the staff could not have been more welcoming. The wine is lovely, also - they do offer wines from other places but do not miss the opportunity to try what you can only taste and sample on site. It’s really good! The sommelier is happy to help with suggestions for other local wines as well, and we enjoyed a lovely local Syrah. Then there is the food - WOW! We had a larger group of maybe 20ish so the dishes came family style, and included a beautiful salad, risotto with peas and mint, a beautiful charcoal roasted mussel dish, estate beetroot salad (simply divine), lamb, fish, and a roasted estate cabbage that was to die for. It was beautiful presented, healthful, and delicious. We couldn’t have asked for more and quite honestly, this was the best lunch we have had on our entire trip. The chef is quite honestly deserving of a Michelin star. Would we stay here? Absolutely, based on the location, the interiors which we could view, and the grounds….and most especially the meal. A wonderful part of our wine tastings day for certain!
