Sat on a limestone throne at the peaceful pinnacle of Ravello, Belmond Hotel Caruso gazes out over the Tyrrhenian Sea. The hotel was originally built in the 11th century by a wealthy family, shipwrecked on their journey to Constantinople. It was once called Palazzo d’Afflitto—the Palace of the Afflicted. Inside, our 50 rooms have been lovingly restored to their ancient Neapolitan glory. Expect hand-crafted terracotta floors and Naples-yellow walls adorned with neo-classical antiques. Fresh flowers and stunning coastline vistas complete the experience.

The setting is gorgeous, the views are breathtaking, and the hotel is beautiful—but what truly makes Hotel Caruso special is the people. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel like family. Antoinetta at the front desk went above and beyond, helping with everything from questions, bookings, changing tours and even ice for an injury. Josie was equally kind and welcoming. The food at Caruso was our favorite of the entire Italy trip, even compared to the Michelin restaurants we tried. We loved the bar menu most, followed by the Grille. The bar became our favorite place to relax—Carmine greeted us each evening with the warmest smile and made every night fun. Tommaso, the manager, was wonderful too (his special gimlet is a 10/10!). And of course, Luigi, the doorman, greeted us every day with genuine warmth and charm. Caruso is so much more than a beautiful hotel—the staff and their thoughtful touches make the experience truly unforgettable.

The staff were lovely and made the experience even more special. A must-visit! While staying at the hotel, we discovered the boutique and were amazed, we found the most comfortable and stylish shoes ever!

From the moment I arrived, I felt embraced by grace. Everything flowed effortlessly — the smiles, the warmth, the calm beauty in every corner. Belmond is not just a hotel; it’s a feeling of belonging, of being genuinely cared for. My heartfelt thanks to General Manager Iolanda Mansi and her wonderful team for making every moment unforgettable. There was serenity in the details, emotion in the view, and soul in every gesture. I left feeling grateful — and already longing to return.

This boat day was a birthday surprise, and it turned out to be one of the best days of my life. The Aprea was immaculate and felt brand new, but what truly made the experience unforgettable were our captains, Francesco and Antonio. They went above and beyond in every way — from taking beautiful photos for us, to showing us hidden coves and the most picturesque spots along the coast, to serving wine, champagne, and the most gorgeous plates of fresh fruit, cheeses, and prosciutto. They even brought us to a hidden gem, Maria Grazia, for an incredible seaside lunch that we’ll never forget. Francesco and Antonio were the perfect hosts: true gentlemen, thoughtful, kind, and so knowledgeable about the area. Their attention to detail and care made us feel like royalty. If you have the chance to book the Aprea, don’t hesitate. It was pure magic — the kind of day you dream about, and one I will treasure forever. (Note: This review is just for the boat experience. I’ll be sharing a separate review on the hotel soon.)

My wife and I went to lunch here and were treated like royalty. I had a lobster special that was truly the best dish I’ve had in my time in Italy. Luigi, Giusi and Giovanni provided excellent service and were very hospitable. Would go back in a heartbeat!!
